I just stayed there, suspended between sleep and waking, afraid that if I stirred, it would all vanish and that I would find myself back on that hard, unforgiving floor, surrounded by shadows and silence.But then soft fabric brushed against my arm and a faint scent reached me, nothing like the stale air below.My breath hitched then slowly, hesitantly, I opened my eyes.Light filtering through sheer curtains that swayed gently with the breeze greeted me. The ceiling above me was familiar and that was when I discovered i was back in my room.For a second, my mind refused to accept it.My gaze darted around, taking in everything at once the wide bed beneath me, the delicate drapes, the polished furniture, the faint glow of morning slipping into the space.
