Chapter 21: Hurt

Aiden POV“Something happened with Sinclair. Adrian is furious. I need to go to Sinclair’s room,” I said to my Mojito.“I’m coming,” she said definitively. We go down to the guest wing, and as soon as we are on the floor, I feel Adrian’s aura radiating throughout. I knock on Sinclair’s door, and Adrian opens it roughly.“I’m fucking killing someone, Aiden,” he growled.I looked behind him, and Sinclair was holding onto the dress that her brother had given her. It’s in shreds. My anger rises immediately.“Oh, Sinclair!” Thalia said, rushing over to her and hugging her.“Tally, I don’t understand this behavior. A rejected she-wolf is cast out of society? When did this become the standard?” she asked, crying.I’m fucking furious. I kneel in front of Sinclair. “This has never been the standard, Sinclair. Something is going on, and I’m going to find out what it is. If we have traitors in this pack and they are targeting you, they are dead.”Thalia continues holding Sinclair. She opens the p

Chapter 22: Candy?

Adrian POV“Son of a bitch,” Aiden said. He reached for his phone and called Isaiah.“Brother, what’s up?”“Candy snuck onto our pack borders and destroyed Sinclair’s things,” Aiden said in a deathly tone.Isaiah snarled. “I’m coming now.”They hung up, but I’m the only one confused. I know Candy was a bully towards Sinclair, but I’m clearly missing something.“Can someone fill me in?” I asked.Aiden ignored me for a moment. “Sinclair, access all other security footage around the pack. I want to know how she got in.”Sinclair was already clicking away, and Thalia was behind her, observing the screen. I turn my attention back to Aiden and pull him aside. “Explain. What am I missing?”“What do you know?”“Sinclair told me about her foster families. The Crosses were the last ones. She said that her father sat around collecting the checks, neglected her, and allowed his asshole son to treat her like a servant, while doing nothing about Candy’s bullying. She said that Candy made her starve

Chapter 23: The Warning

Candy POV I made it through undetected. I found her scent and followed it, just like he showed me. He wanted me to send a warning. So I tore up the cute little dress. The objective wasn’t to hide that I was there. It was to show her that I could get in undetected. My father is rotting in the basement of some freak wolf. Sinclair became a wolf. Disgusting. No wonder she was able to beat my Dad and brother. I was the only one who was spared from the basement because I was quick on my feet and managed to stab a security guard in the neck. Julian wanted me to bring her back. Ronan, however, said he would train me. Said he would show me how to make the potions, sneak in undetected, and then, when I’m ready, officially make me a hunter. Sinclair should not get to live better than me. She should not have the respect of a pack. She should not be smarter than me. She won’t be able to find me, but I know where she is. Ronan found out easily after he fought her. The fact that she is still ali

Chapter 24: Shopping

Sinclair POV Kaia, Thalia, Mom, and Rory are all determined to take me shopping. I feel so out of my element. The only one who understands me is Mom. “When Austin first found me, I followed him. I left with the clothes on my back. The next day, Lacey took me shopping, and I felt the same way.” “Mom, how was your life before you found Dad?” I asked. All of us turned to Mom expectantly. She never really wanted to talk about her past. She’s always glossed over it. She focuses on all of us and not on herself. Dad doesn’t even talk about it because Mom doesn’t like bringing it up. “Let’s get lunch, and I will tell it to all of you. Then I will never speak of it again,” she said. We all agreed, got food, and literally sat for two hours talking about Mom’s past. When she was done explaining, she smiled. “I see myself in all of you. I see the fighters, the cleverness, the neglect, the abuse, and the loneliness. I felt it the same way Thalia, Kaia, and Sinclair have. The love I have for

Chapter 25: Temptation

Adrian POVAiden, Isaiah, and I are talking about Candy. We are trying to figure out how Candy got onto the premises undetected.“Didn’t Ronan come in undetected? We know that he came in with the rogues.”“Yeah, but his scent could have gotten lost in the rogue’s scent,” I replied.“Thalia mentioned that she could have been recruited as a hitman,” Aiden said.“Yeah, but I doubt that human hitman know how to or if they even can hide their scents,” I countered. All three of us were stumped trying to figure it out, but we were coming up with nothing. Isaiah then switched gears.“How are things going between Sinclair and you?”“We are figuring it out. I messed things up pretty badly when I first realized she was my mate. She thought I didn’t want her because I left. Really, I was in shock. I was still grieving.”“You walked out on Sinclair?” Isaiah asked, stunned. “No wonder Kaia was ready to tear you apart. She wouldn’t tell me anything, but she was seriously ready to rip you a new one.

Chapter 26: Comfortable

Sinclair POVI felt a shiver go down my spine when Adrian whispered in my ear. Before we were bonded, I could banter with him so easily, and my breath wouldn’t catch. Now he whispers in my ear, and my body responds so damn quickly. I wonder idly if this is Mali or the mate bond.‘It’s definitely the mate bond, and it’s definitely all that male specimen in front of us, Clair. Can we go model for him now?’ she said panting.‘Calm down, Mali. Now you are the one acting like a wolf in heat.’‘He makes us both hot and bothered. Who are you trying to fool?’‘I have second-hand embarrassment for you.’ I said.‘Second-hand hell! I want first-hand experience.’I closed her out. I already feel my cheeks warming at her brazen attitude. I turned my attention back at Adrian, who was looking at me intently. He smirked at me again.“Mali?”I sighed. “Yes.”“What’s she saying?”I shook my head. “I’m going to start putting things away,” I deflected. He smiled widely and grabbed some of the pink bags fr

Chapter 27: Gulp

Adrian POVI was enjoying feeling Sinclair’s body. She doused cold water on me with that comment of hers. I don’t want her trying to fit into a box she thinks I want her to fit into. I’ve seen women do that before. They lose their personality trying to shrink themselves into something they think their men will want. Sinclair’s a genius. I don’t want her shrinking herself for me. I wasn’t going to hide the fact that I like that red lace set she bought, though, and when she asked if I wanted her to try that on, well, I’d be dumb as shit to say no. Her face is flushing a lot, and I know it took a lot for her to ask me that question. She took the set from me and moved to the bathroom. I heard the shower turn on. I took the opportunity to bring the rest of the bags inside the room. The omegas left them outside the room. Once inside, I decided to take a look at all the sets she bought.I admit I have a raging hard-on after looking at the green, black, white, and purple sets. Especially the

Chapter 28: Where is she?

Julian POVI have useless people working for me. I’m waiting for Sinclair to be brought to me, and still, no one has eyes on her. When they do have eyes on her, she isn’t alone. I could take her regardless, but I want her by herself. If what Conrad said was true, no one will even notice she is gone when the time comes. By the time they realize she is missing, she will already be here with me. I will not let her go once she is here.“Where is she?” I asked.“Still at Blackstone; however, there has been a development, Alpha,” my beta said.“Speak.”“She is now mated.”“To whom?” I asked, feeling my anger rise.“Adrian Willis. Also, there is one other thing, Alpha.”Adrian Willis? Why does the Willis family have to be at the center of my plans, screwing them up as they go?“What else?”“We’ve noted that Ronan is working with Ms. Cross’s foster sister, Candy Cross. She has even infiltrated the pack. We are not sure what she did while she was there, but she got in and out and was undetected.

Chapter 29: Leaving

Sinclair POVI woke up, my body aching. I moved, and the soreness between my legs was there. It almost got me aroused again. Gods, it felt like Adrian was trying to embed himself inside me.‘I want him to do that again. It was incredible, Clair,’ Mali said.It really was incredible. At one point, I didn’t think I would be able to gain control of my body again. It was so intense, and my legs wouldn’t stop shaking. I smiled. Afterward, he held me and helped me sit up to eat.I don’t know what I did, though, because he suddenly wanted me again. For the first time in my life, I feel like someone loves me deeply. He hasn’t said it yet, and I am not going to push for it. I want that to happen organically. It feels like love, though. I don’t have any experience with this, so I’m not sure.I slowly get up and walk to the shower. I clean myself and then slowly get dressed. I’m wearing comfortable clothes this time. Adrian needs to keep his hands to himself for a little while.I think he told

Chapter 30: Time

Adrian POVIt’s been four weeks. She vanished. My mate vanished. I’ve been going crazy looking for her. Why did she leave? I don’t know, but the mate bond is still intact. She hasn’t tried rejecting me again.Maybe she doesn’t know, but it’s my only connection to her. She is too far away to link to, and according to Kaia, she has gone dark. I didn’t understand what that meant until Kaia and Thalia explained that it was deeper than disappearing. It was completely erasing her existence.I crumbled to my knees. She left me. I didn’t do anything. I held her and left her to sleep while I spoke to Aiden. Everything was fine.Aiden walked into my office. “Bro, I thought of something. We were so caught up in finding her that we didn’t think to trace her steps.”I looked at him expectantly. “What did you find?” Why didn’t I think of it?‘You are hurting, Adrian. We both are. I miss Mali.’‘I miss our mates, too, Thor. I will find them. I promise.’Aiden put a laptop in front of me. “Check the s
