BLAKE The moment Tristian finished the entire hall went wild. The crowd was divided now…some took my side arguing my work as Alpha and others took Tristan’s. I stood there at the center…stunned, all fire directed at me. Then— I felt it…warm hands around mine. It immediately grounded me. Slowly, I turned and saw Tricia. She held my hand firmly, her eyes firmly on mine. I stared in shock. Was she…? How..? Goddess knows how I needed that. She blinked like she had just realized what she did and pulled her hand back slowly. “No.” My hands moved and caught hers. Our eyes locked then. “A little longer..” I said softly. She nodded slowly. The entire room around us was still in chaos. Elders were standing on the edge of their chairs screaming out. Alphas arguing with each other, some even close to the spot of throwing blows. And there he stood…Tristan. He wore that sick and victorious smile on his face. Foolish of him to think he’s won… Charlotte was videoing the scene on her ph

BLAKE I didn’t waste a second longer. “Send the order! I want a full estate lockdown now!” The words were flying out and all guards on station were flying out at once. The authority in my voice alone was almost enough to literally and physically shake the pack walls, In less than ten minutes…the entire Blackwood Pack was under full lockdown. All the gates were sealed shut and the guards at each perimeter were doubled… No one moved in or out without my knowledge. The entire pack was dead silent now as I marched through the hall. Xavier got the order via Rector because I still didn't fully trust him. Somehow I’ve always felt that he acted out on his own even if I didn’t physically see it. There was something rogue about him regardless of how good of a warrior he was… Maybe it was the betrayal of the Nullifier, it had made me paranoid and literally suspicious of even a shadow. But still..trust them or not… I needed every body available. If the traitor was still inside these w

BLAKE The moment I saw him..my body tensed up. Gerald was leaning against the wall with a smug smile on his face… My first instinct was to shift in one go and let the wolf take over, to tear my father off that wall with my bare fangs and watch him bleed. Even after all these years in exile, the rage I had towards him hadn’t dimmed… My second instinct, the one that won, was to not give Gerald the satisfaction of seeing me lose control. I saw it in his eyes. He wanted proof I was still the angry, broken boy he'd left behind. I wouldn't give him that satisfaction. Gerald dropped down from the wall with the grace of a man twenty years younger than he should be. His movements were fluid and smooth as he walked towards us… Then I watched his eyes turn to Tricia for a few seconds… I didn’t know why but my protective instincts kicked as I stepped forward without much thought…putting myself between them. Gerald lips then formed into that infuriating smug smile of his… "The bond is

Chapter Eighteen BLAKE "No. That's impossible." The words left my mouth on instinct. I held onto it for about forty-five seconds before my Alpha brain took over and reminded me that feelings were not evidence.. Rector had fought beside me for fifteen years. He'd bled for me, killed for me, become the brother I'd never had. But instinct wasn't evidence. And impossible wasn't the same as innocent. Tricia stood in front of my desk, keeping her expression fairly serious… She had just told me what Charlotte said, that Rector was the mole feeding Tristan info… Hearing the words leave her mouth almost felt like poison to my ears. I kept my expression neutral, then I thanked her with a short nod. “You can go.” I said, walking back to my chair. When I sat…she was still there. She didn’t even move an inch. “Did I stutter…I said you can go back up.” My tone was colder this time. She did not go back upstairs. Instead, she stood exactly where she was, then crossed her arms and

BLAKE The garden fell absolutely silent. The tension felt almost physical, pressing against every person gathered. Tricia was standing completely still, her hand still raised where she had pulled it back from the wolf. Then she turned to me… What? I froze the moment I saw her face— Her face… it was doing something I had no name for. I had seen fear..I had seen anger, seen defiance and despair and exhaustion. But I had never seen this specific combination of hope and terror on one person before. She looked like a child who had been told her dead parent was waiting for her just around the corner. The look in her eyes…it said it all. She desperately wanted to believe it was her mother…goddess knows she wanted to. But she was just as terrified if she let herself believe a lie… I stood up from the involuntary knee, which I was going to think about later. The First Wolf's presence had forced me down, and I was not happy about it, not one bit. But… that was a problem for fu
