Scarlett waited for hours for Jordan, but he didn't return. Her instincts told her something must have happened, but she ignored it. She knew he wouldn't do anything to harm Tabitha or her sister. He would protect them. So she waited, pacing around the bedroom impatiently. But when noon passed and Jordan still didn't return with both girls, she couldn't keep pretending everything was okay. She rushed out of the room and hurried down the stairs. Strangely enough, the mansion was empty. The guards were gone. The maids were nowhere to be found. She was the only one inside. "No," she gasped and hurried towards the front doors as fear started to creep into her heart. As she rushed out the door, she bumped into Caleb who was just returning. He grabbed her arms, steadying her before she could fall. "Caleb!" She exclaimed. "Where are you off to in such a hurry?" He questioned. He looked exhausted, and the smile he gave her was tired. "I have to find Jordan. Have you seen him?" "Jor

Scarlett couldn't sleep. All through the night, she tossed and turned restlessly, plagued with images of Tabitha's dead body. One time when she managed to doze off, a bad dream terrified her. She saw herself standing before Mirah's dangling body, while Tabitha and Gretchen lay underneath her, their bodies slowly decaying. Then a mysterious figure appeared out of the darkness and pointed a finger at her, followed by an eerie whisper that said, "You are next..."She jolted awake with a shrill scream, her skin glistening with sweat. Her heart raced heavily as she got out of bed and hurried to the bathroom to splash water on her face. "Please come back, Dylan." She whispered. "I don't think I can do this without you here."She remained in front of the mirror for a while before returning to her room. The sun was just rising, sending streaks of dawn into the sky. She hadn't gotten any sleep. She felt like hell. A soft knock sounded then, alerting her. "Who's there?"The door opened an

"Dylan, you should be resting." Scarlett said as Dylan pulled on his shirt and buttoned it. "You're ill. You can call for a meeting another time.""No, I can't." He refused. "I left the pack for a single day and three deaths occurred. Something like that can't be ignored."He turned towards the door, and when she didn't follow him, he paused. "Aren't you coming?"She shrugged. "You stopped me from attending court with you. I didn't think you would want me there.""Of course I do. I need you with me." He held out a hand. "Come on."She smiled and entwined her hand with his as he opened the door and stepped out. When they arrived at the temple, it was empty. The elders hadn't arrived yet. Dylan settled into his seat and pulled her down beside him. He still looked pale, and he winced from pain occasionally. Scarlett noticed and placed her hand on his. "How long until you're completely healed?"He squeezed her hand before answering. "About six hours, maybe less. Don't worry about me,

Scarlett banged hard on the door with her fists, rattling the door knob and trying to pull it open. Nothing worked. Her first suspect was Helgar and Beowulf. With the tight tension between them, it was only normal for them to try and hurt her. Her heart raced as she paced around the room, then walked over to the window and squinted out, trying to find Dylan. Dylan had just entered the courtyard. With the direction he came from, it seemed he just stepped out of the mansion. Suddenly he turned towards the window and looked up. His lips curled into a smirk, an indication that he just did something mischievous. Realization slowly dawned on her. He was the one who locked her in. Muttering a curse under her breath, she barged into the terrace and glared down at him. "Dylan, open the door or I'll jump." Her voice sounded high pitched and unsteady. He gave her a bold look, like he was daring her to actually jump. Then he slowly turned and walked off. "DYLAN!" She screamed after him,

Scarlett expected it to hurt. She prepared herself for it, knowing fully well that the first time came with a lot of pain. But nothing prepared her for the excruciating agony that hit her. It felt like she was being torn in two. She barely registered Dylan's hand clamped over her mouth as she screamed from the pain. He was too big, ripping her wide open brutally. She felt something warm and wet trickle down her inner thighs. She didn't need to check to know it was blood. "It hurts," she cried, shaking her head and hitting Dylan's chest. "It hurts so much." Dylan's heart broke when he saw the tears streaming down her face. He had been worried that this would happen, and watching it happen now only made him feel worse. He pulled out swiftly and cradled her, dropping light kisses on her face, her cheeks, her lips. "I'm sorry," she sobbed. "It just hurts really bad." "You have nothing to be sorry for," he assured her sweetly. "I should be the one apologizing, for hurting you.
