Scarlett expected it to hurt. She prepared herself for it, knowing fully well that the first time came with a lot of pain.

But nothing prepared her for the excruciating agony that hit her. It felt like she was being torn in two.

She barely registered Dylan's hand clamped over her mouth as she screamed from the pain. He was too big, ripping her wide open brutally.

She felt something warm and wet trickle down her inner thighs. She didn't need to check to know it was blood.

"It hurts," she cried, shaking her head and hitting Dylan's chest. "It hurts so much."Dylan's heart broke when he saw the tears streaming down her face. He had been worried that this would happen, and watching it happen now only made him feel worse. He pulled out swiftly and cradled her, dropping light kisses on her face, her cheeks, her lips. "I'm sorry," she sobbed. "It just hurts really bad.""You have nothing to be sorry for," he assured her sweetly. "I should be the one apologizing, for hurting you."He la

Every coherent thought dissolved from Dylan's mind when he heard those words. He grasped the edge of her night dress and tugged at it, his fingers warm and insistent. "I promise, I'll be gentle." He murmured. He gently pulled off the night gown and tossed it aside. Then he took off his shirt, kicked his pants off and climbed back into the bed. He kissed her first, his lips merging with hers in a hot dance of desire. A little pressure from him coaxed her lips open and he slid his tongue into her mouth. She gasped at the sensation, her eyeballs rolling back, lids fluttering close. She moaned into his mouth when his tongue swirled erotically with hers. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her hands tight around his back, nails raking over his skin. Her thighs clamped hard around his waist, her hips lifting up to rub against the hard bulge straining against his boxers. He pulled away and leaned his head against hers. "Patience, Scarlett, I'm trying really hard to go slowly.""I can't h

Scarlett banged hard on the door with her fists, rattling the door knob and trying to pull it open. Nothing worked. Her first suspect was Helgar and Beowulf. With the tight tension between them, it was only normal for them to try and hurt her. Her heart raced as she paced around the room, then walked over to the window and squinted out, trying to find Dylan. Dylan had just entered the courtyard. With the direction he came from, it seemed he just stepped out of the mansion. Suddenly he turned towards the window and looked up. His lips curled into a smirk, an indication that he just did something mischievous. Realization slowly dawned on her. He was the one who locked her in. Muttering a curse under her breath, she barged into the terrace and glared down at him. "Dylan, open the door or I'll jump." Her voice sounded high pitched and unsteady. He gave her a bold look, like he was daring her to actually jump. Then he slowly turned and walked off. "DYLAN!" She screamed after him,

Scarlett stormed into her bedroom in a fit of rage. She ripped the hairclip out of her hair and flung it at the wall. She had never been this angry at anyone. After everything, Dylan still didn't believe her. She had been counting on him, hoping he would at least take her side. Why wasn't she surprised? Of course he would believe his fellow shifters instead of his human wife whom he didn't want to marry in the first place. He came through the door then, his eyes searching the room until he found her. "Scarlett...""Don't talk to me." She moved away when he tried to hold her. "You've embarrassed me enough.""Embarrassed you?""I expected you to back me up, Dylan. We might not love each other, but I'm your wife. I told you what happened, and you just ruined everything. You were supposed to take my side.""It's not about taking sides." He yelled. "It is, to me. I'm trying to establish my authority in this pack, and you know how hard that is, since I'm a human. I needed you on my sid

"Dylan, you should be resting." Scarlett said as Dylan pulled on his shirt and buttoned it. "You're ill. You can call for a meeting another time.""No, I can't." He refused. "I left the pack for a single day and three deaths occurred. Something like that can't be ignored."He turned towards the door, and when she didn't follow him, he paused. "Aren't you coming?"She shrugged. "You stopped me from attending court with you. I didn't think you would want me there.""Of course I do. I need you with me." He held out a hand. "Come on."She smiled and entwined her hand with his as he opened the door and stepped out. When they arrived at the temple, it was empty. The elders hadn't arrived yet. Dylan settled into his seat and pulled her down beside him. He still looked pale, and he winced from pain occasionally. Scarlett noticed and placed her hand on his. "How long until you're completely healed?"He squeezed her hand before answering. "About six hours, maybe less. Don't worry about me,

"Touch her and die." Scarlett whirled around, her heart skipping a beat the moment her gaze met Dylan's. He stood at the door of the temple, leaning slightly against it while Caleb stood beside him. He looked pissed. His skin was pale, and spidery veins were latched around his eyelids, along with dark circles. The tips of his canines were visible, and as he walked further into the temple, they retracted. "Dylan," she whispered in relief. He walked up to her and slipped an arm around her waist. His eyes assessed her for a moment, then he brushed his thumb over her cheek. "You've been causing trouble in my absence, haven't you?" He teased. She laughed and shook her head. "I'm so glad you're back. A lot happened and... oh what am I saying? I should be more worried about you. Are you okay? You look ill." He smiled tiredly and caressed her hair. Then he slowly turned to the elders and a murderous expression took over his face. The five elders were astonished to see him back
