Ciara's POV We arrive at the hospital in a few minutes. I rushed to my mother’s ward. She’s still resting when I step in. I sit beside her, arranging her drawer, then pick up my phone and play a game to pass time. When I checked the time, I'd been there for an hour. She’s still asleep. I decided to leave and come back later. As I step out, I spot Mr. Hale walking toward the ward. "Good morning, sir," I greeted him. "Ciara, how do you do?" "I’m well, sir." "And your husband, Simon?" "He's fine. He traveled for a Redford partner’s emergency." "I had no idea there was an emergency," He says. "Well, it was at the last minute." I nod, covering for Simon. "You look stressed," I add. "You should rest." "I can’t rest. My wife is lying in that hospital bed." "I understand, but—" "No," he cuts me off. "I’ve been married to this woman for forty years. Forty years of my life.
