A week laterSalvatore Time flies over us but leaves its shadows behind. It's been a week of torture. Not to everyone though. Just me because everyone else in the house seems to be enjoying themselves. After that night, Aunt Ann managed to stay out of my face. She minds her business and I do mine too.And my brothers? Sympathetic as hell. They haven't said anything about how I behaved nor did they let it affect our affairs. We still did our parts only that they made sure to see the party arrangements themselves. I didn't lift a finger, even my suit was chosen and delivered by them. One thing we all do for ourselves is to give the grieving heart enough time before discussing whatever the bone of contention is. So, right now all I have to do is get dressed and get downstairs because visitors will begin to trudge in.I stared at the white and burgundy stripe suit in my bed and sighed.“I just want to get this over with,” I muttered I stared back at the mirror in the room. A new one b

Vittorio As much as I loved to play, I hated this gathering. I know we spend a lot of money and energy on it but I sincerely wished we stopped doing it. The gathering, although meant to bring all allies together, does the opposite. If anything it creates tension between rivals and enemies. They wished they could have one another's throat but they dare not, at least not on our watch.Every smile and handshake in the room are merely for show. Beneath lies deep secrets that better not see the lights of the day. As I sat down beside Stefano, I sighed tiredly, the night hadn't even begun and to say the truth, it was always filled with drama. You get to know a lot of things and unravel deep hatred amongst them.“Where the hell is Sal," said Red? Stefano muttered. The seat between us which was meant for them was still empty. I checked my watch and saw they were fifteen minutes late.I signalled to one of the guards by the door. He walked over and bent closer. I moved closer to his ears, re

Alessia I adjusted the front of my dress again and checked to make sure my cleavages were out in the right amount. There were going to be more than enough men there to go round and I wouldn't mind having one of them under me tonight. Normally I wouldn't do that but it's the gala night after all. It's meant for everyone to mingle and unwind.Just then the door of my room opened from the other side. My sisters and I have our rooms joined to one another. Mine is in the middle, Chiara and Anna's were joined from each side. We wanted to be within one another's reach. It was also another way of keeping my eyes on them. I don't want to miss anything. Not that I love spying on them but I love them that much and I want everything about them to be known to me.“Don't you ever knock?” I snapped, applying the last layer of make up on my face for the night. The black lipstick matched the black dress I had on and complemented my skin. For no particular reason, I love black, maybe because it's tant

Salvatore I stood behind a pillar by the stairs, watching the party unfold. Men whispering and women answering in whispers to what I assume to be a date under the sheet later that night. Others' faces were tight faced, piercing horrible gazes at their opponents whilst seeming uninterested in everything going on.Aunty Ann and Gilbert spoke in hush tones. I saw as she continuously shook her left leg under the table vigorously and checked the watch in her wrists. It is almost time. I guess we both have one thing in common tonight. We were waiting for the same thing I saw Vittorio raise his hands to Ziyana's back, massaging it gently while Stefano held her thigh in place. I knew what they were planning to do. Knowing Red, she might writhe too much and call attention to herself, hence the reason why Stefano held her down.Vittorrio removed his hands from her back and dropped it on her other thigh, just above the slit there. He hitched his hand up and let it slide to the corners of her t

ZiyanaEveryone scurried quickly as the sound of the gun silenced all noises. The violinist began playing again and everyone swayed to the music again but I couldn't. I couldn't stop myself from repeating the thunderous sound of the gun from my head. I held my hand to my ears to stop myself from hearing anything but it didn't work.It didn't take long for me to start shaking. My hands and feet felt cold instantly from inside. I tried taking a steady breath but I was unable to do that. No matter how hard I tried,it just didn't work. What if the gun had hit the women, they would have died right there in the room.“Zee?” Vittorrio called, shaking me slightly. I still held my hand to my ears, tightly still. After calling me to no avail. I felt him raise me up on my feet. He muttered a bit of explanation to Stefano and stood up. Taking me past a list of busybody visitors and the naughty old man who smiled at me earlier, we got out of the ball room and past the long hallways. After several

Stefano “Tell me you have good news for me Marcus.” I said as I walked into the boardroom that morning. All the executives were waiting patiently for me before I got in. The tension in the room looks as palpable, the air tense. There was trouble brewing with one of the contracts we had submitted, hence the reason for the impromptu meeting.Vittorio was also seated in the room but Salvatore was not. He has missed two meetings in a row now and every time, he gives excuses about his company needing his attention. Not that I'd tell him to not attend to the needs of his company but I knew it was all excuses to prevent him from staying in the same room as me and Vittorio. He is not over all that has happened over the week. I've tried getting him to converse with me but he makes sure that never happens. And now, he's absent again.“Here,” Marcus said. He opened the file in front of me. I collected it and flipped through it. I perused it a couple of times, each time, I frowned. It seems impos

StefanoI thought I knew everything about them both. They are my brothers. The only family I've had since both of our parents died. I made sure to notice even the most insignificant things about them and took mental notes of them. I figured I'm the closest to being a father and mother for them. You'd probably wonder and ask about Ann.Well, she's just our favourite aunt. She's just…there. Not that I'm complaining but she never had a child of her own, so maybe that's why she saw us as her children but something still felt missing and that was why I took it after myself to look after my brothers. So, how come I never noticed what Vittorio had said? Not even once could I ever think he'd believe such a thing. That he killed mom? How gullible is he?The door of the room opened. Enzo walked in briskly. He used to be a personal assistant to the three of us when we hadn't expanded but he had since ceased to be when we did. Now he only works as Salvatore's P.A.The hesitancy in his steps gave

Massimo.I gulped down the water, washing down the bitter drugs in my throat. I winced a bit as I dropped the mug on a nearby table. It's been three weeks, yet I still feel pain when I stress too much which is impossible not to because I'm the only one here. I certainly cannot do everything by myself. I've gotten too used to being waited on that it feels surreal to do this all.But I had to, for my safety, for my child's life. Florence had been the one to find me that day. I had passed out and it took days to bring me back. The beatings and bashings were too much for me to handle. Not that I'm a weakling, don't get me wrong. I'm one who invested in my health the same way as I did in my business but that day, luck simply was not on my side.If I had been a weakling, I couldn't have thought of partnering with Arseni; a man whose name everyone dreaded in the streets of Singapore. The more reason why I felt he'd be the best to build a business with. The events of that day were out of my

Massimo Damp.Old.Dark.These were the three smells I had gotten accustomed to over the past few weeks but this morning, what wafted in my nose was nice, serene and warm. Contrary to how quick and eager I am to rise today is different. I didn't want to open my eyes.I felt warmth radiate through me as her hand clung to me. She snuggled closer, her warm breath fanning my cheeks. She placed one of her legs on mine under the blanket covering us. “I know you are awake, open your eyes,” she whispered, biting my hair lobe slightly. She licked the inside of my ear, slowly, tauntingly. I smiled as she did and opened my eyes.“Got ya!” She said smiling. I pulled her close to me, hugging her properly. She responded by pecking my lips. I didn't want that, her touch was amazing, her smell ignited a fire in me. Truly, I shouldn't even be thinking about anything of such for now. I have lots of messages to deal with. However, it's Chiara I'm talking about. The one woman who welcomed me into adult

Stefano I marched into the store with furious steps. The sharp contrast to the tiled floor said it all, someone is in trouble.Marcus tried scurrying behind me in an attempt to catch up with me but my legs refused to allow him do that. They simply had a mind of their own. I wanted one thing; to look him in the face and ask why my business got compromised. He was supposed to make every single detail count. I expect that my job will be done well and supervised with no errors.“Boss,” one of the men in the room waiting for my arrival said. He offered me a chair. I sat on it, with a grunt. I really didn't feel like sitting but it's been a long day, standing and visiting construction sites.I snapped my finger in the air, the man nodded and cleared his throat. A door opened in the opposite direction. Two hefty men dragged in a man who had been tied with rope. His head was covered with a black cloth. The man in captivity tried struggling for freedom but the ropes were too tight. The men tied
