“Mariah, what are you doing here?” A young man with long golden hair rushed Mariah on seeing her and he stopped moving when he saw the sleeping man she was sitting beside on the ground. “Who is this?”“Dionysus, please, I need your help.” Mariah pleaded.Dionysus knew he should ask more question but instead, he sighed and helped her carry Alaric. “Lord Vertimon is in your father’s palace as we speak, this is the best time to sneak into the waters without him noticing.”“Thank Goddess,” Mariah breathed a sigh of relief. As they approached the big sea, Dionysus turned to Mariah. “He is not a wanted man, is he?”Mariah didn’t answer.“Mariah, I won’t get in trouble with my uncle for doing this, will I?”“Dionysus, I can’t tell you more other than the fact that this man saved my life and I have to save his to repay my kindness. Please, help me.”Looking into her beautiful blue eyes, Dionysus sighed, he can never say no to her. With that, they walked into the sea and before diving in, Dion

Aliyah turned at the mention of the name and jumped on her feet when she saw the young lady. “Mariah,” she called in relief and rushed her, grabbing her hand and pulling her into her arms. “Oh Goddess, I am so glad that you are safe.”“Mom,” Mariah choked and the tears started pouring. It has been a kind of a messed-up night. The day had started great with Alaric waking up and apologizing to her. Then they had conversed like never before, she just never expected for so much to happen in one day. She was both mentally and physically tired and now being in her mother’s embrace, she just wanted to cry her eyes out.“Oh my dear, it’s alright now, you are safe.” Aliyah said just as Irene and Noah approached them. Aliyah let go of Mariah to wipe away Mariah’s tears. “Your father and brother have been looking for you.”“I know,” Mariah sniffled and her mother wiped away her tears again.“Are you okay? Are you safe?” Aliyah asked.Mariah nodded. “I am, just tired. Need to rest.”“Of course, I

Aliyah glared at Asher, “easy Asher, why are you so harsh on her?”“Why shouldn’t I be, Mom? Not only did she lie to us, but she is protecting that man, choosing him over us.” Asher spat out.Mariah shook her head immediately, “no, of course not. I’m just trying to repay his favor. He was in that state because of me, because he tried to protect me. The last thing I want is to leave him in danger when he can’t protect himself. You must understand that if it wasn’t for him, I may be dead by now. That arrow came straight for my heart, Asher, if not for anything, then understand that he saved me, he kept me alive.”“And you are so stupid to not see that he is doing that to buy time.” Asher refuted.“Time for what?” Mariah asked, perplexed, “what is he buying time for?”“To kill you, you idiot!”Mariah closed her eyes and heaved a deep sigh, when she opened them, she stared straight at Asher. “If Alaric wants me dead, Asher, I will be dead, there is no need to buy time.”“So, his name is A

“Dad, please, I have to go.” Mariah pleaded for the hundredth time from her room. She never expected her father to cast a spell on her, preventing her from teleporting. She really needs to check on Alaric, and she can’t contact Dionysus in any other way. Because they were always in water, Merfolk hardly used gadgets, so almost none had a cell phone. It was not a problem to them, after all, they just need to think of where they want to go and teleport there.“Mom, I beg of you, help me and talk to Dad. Really, how long are you guys planning on keeping me locked up here? It’s been two days!” She cried. The guards stationed outside of her room glanced at each other and shrugged. They had been as surprised as every other servant when the king told them to guard the princess’s door and prevent her from leaving. Right outside her window, guards are guarding there as well, preventing her from jumping out of the window in her wolf form. For two days now, they have all taken turns watching the

Alaric was stunned and it was obvious in his golden eyes that that was not something he had put into consideration. He glanced at Edward and Edward gave a slight nod and his gaze strayed to Asher who was still holding his chest from the blow he took from him earlier. Alaric was finding it hard to believe, if Mariah was the demon king’s daughter, doesn’t that mean that son of Aspa is her brother, thereby making her… “Mariah is the daughter of Aspa?” Impossible, Alaric thought, he never perceived a trait of Aspa in her.“What? No!” Edward said, “That woman will never be my wife, not even in any life she is to reincarnate.”Alaric frowned, what is he saying? Is he taking him for a fool? “I may be lost in years, but I am no fool, Demon King. Your son clearly has Aspa’s powers, if she is not his mother then who is?”“I am,” Aliyah said behind him and he turned to see the woman walking out from the broken gates.Alaric frowned, he perused her and could clearly see resemblance to her and Mar
