The Binding

Weeks Later…MatthewLight fractures into soft beams of orange and yellow as the sun begins its descent toward the west, casting longer shadows on the trees, though we are far above the forest on the bare, grassy where we’ve gathered by the altar. On this evening, the air itself stirs excitement in me.As is tradition in the Chestnut Pack, we are awaiting the sunset before beginning the ceremony.I love everything about the traditions of my mate’s pack, which is soon to be mine as well, but I will also remain true to who I am and what it has meant to me to have my place in my family. In our many conversations on the subject, Freya has wholeheartedly agreed. So, I stand here in the regal colors of the Dark Forest royalty, my sapphire blue blazer displaying the various ceremonial pins of the accomplishments I have made as Prince Matthew of Dark Forest. My parents, along with my brother Ethan and his mate Rylee, sit in the front row on simple benches carved from logs, looking slightly in

A New Kingdom Begins

Months Later…FinnI promised myself I wouldn’t take Reeva again in the morning, but dammit if it isn’t hard to hold back from this beauty. Her green eyes glance up at me sleepily, and our legs are still entwined together, placing me cock right smack in the spot where I can feel her warm pussy against me. My cock swells.“We don’t have much time,” she says.Well, that’s not a no.I roll us both over to the sound of our laughter, but I soon drown it out when I take her lips in mine. I don’t waste time, sliding my cock right away. Feeling her walls stretch around me is the best fucking way in the world to start the day. There’s no time for the slow, playful teasing I love to do with her.Next time.Right now, I just get myself into her, pushing with the fast strokes I know will make her come damn near immediately. And right on cue, her sweet pussy tightens around me, lubing my cock up with juices that send me over the edge along with her in a satisfying release.I pull up off her so I c

Crystal Waters

Twenty-five Years Later in a Distant KingdomPrince Zachariah“Father, be reasonable,” I implore him.But he narrows his eyes, his left brow twitching with disapproval. Alpha King Tobias of Crystal Waters is anything but patient with things that might bring change to this rotting kingdom.“He’s not welcome here,” he grunts.“Prince Kai of Green Mountain has already set sail,” I argue. “What are we going to do, turn him away at the shore?” The prince was understanding when he realized we have no modern airports here. He’s wasting months of his precious time, and my father is so ungrateful. We need to reach out to the modern world to start making a better life for our people. My father will never understand that.“Yes!” he bellows. “I’ll order my guards to fire on his ship if he gets so much as one mile from our shores.”“I don’t have a way to inform him of this,” I argue. “His delegation left weeks ago.”“Not my problem,” he says, crossing his legs and picking at his thumbnail.“It’s n

Just Trying to Survive

Book 3: The New BreederMaddie“May I help?” Little Katy looks up to me with pleading eyes while I tie my boots. Pausing for a moment before answering, I make a note of the multiple patches already holding together one of her last three dresses, weighing the risk of inflicting more damage on the poor fabric if she shadows me while I do chores.“Let her go,” Mother calls from the kitchen, which is not much more than the corner of our main living room in our small farmhouse. There’s barely a hint of pink-tinted morning sunlight filtering through the windows, and she’s already elbow-deep in flour, kneading our ever-shrinking daily batch of bread. “She’s six,” she adds. “She’s going to have to learn to help with the chores soon anyway.”A twinge of regret passes through me at the thought. I’d prefer that my sister spend more of her younger years playing with our youngest sibling, two-year-old Cindy, rather than start helping out on the farm. But it’s clear the years of worry and hunger ar

Ship's Captain

KaiI smooth out the yellowing, folded maps along the flat surface of the ship’s gear control. Almost nobody has navigated these waters since these were drawn, probably a good seventy years ago. Maybe more. But I’ve programmed all the information into the sophisticated navigational equipment aboard the Zephyr, the ship I’ve been using for my ambassador voyages around the Crimson Sea. So far, my trips have been successful, netting enough trade agreements to keep the merchants at home busy.Double-checking the compass, I’m sure we’re on course, though visually, lifting my gaze to the endless waves around us, each whitecap flickering bright when the sun hits it just right, provides me no clue. We’re out in the open ocean now, on our own without a single stretch of land to guide us.I ignore the creek of the door behind me, sensing my future Beta entering and knowing he’s about to give me shit.“My dude, do we even know where we are?” Niko asks. And there it is....I turn to give him a na

Heir to the Throne

Zachariah“I won’t do it,” I say out loud in my suite. My father isn’t here. Neither are any servants, or even Lucas—my best friend who would be my future Beta if I ever wanted to rule Crystal Waters, which I most definitely do not. There is no physical human being present who would care that I object to my father sending out a call for breeders for me.But I am speaking to someone. Catherine’s portrait hangs on the wall, her copper eyes painted so perfectly, I can almost feel her emotions when she sat for the artist in her stunning burgundy gown. I remember that day, months before we were married, when her porcelain-white cheeks blushed pink when I told her how I would cherish this likeness of her forever.I had no idea.A familiar rumble settles in my chest, reminding me of the ache of loss. But I push it aside, speaking to this painting of my wife as if she were alive, standing right here before me.“I can’t believe he’d insist I do such a thing,” I continue. “It’s a sickening trad

My Duty

Maddie“When will we have sweet bread again?”Katy’s question breaks the silence, but not the static tension around the supper table.Neither of my parents had spoken to me all day, aside from the one-word exchanges necessary to help me get the chores done and tend to my sisters. When I came in for a glass of water earlier, between chores around the barn, they were in the one other room of the house, the door closed tight.I couldn’t understand the muted whispers, but the subject was clear.Because Mother was weeping. Her tears are dry now, and she conceals her regret well when she answers my sister. “We’ll have to wait for the next delivery of sugar, sweetie.”“We can use honey!” Katie’s smile widens, proud of her brilliant suggestion.Mother and Father look at each other before Father answers gently. “Well, Katy, we’d like to keep some of the honey, but we need to sell it for money for the farm.”Katie frowns. “Can’t we use just a little ourselves?”“I’m afraid not, Katy,” he says r

Been Nice Knowing You

KaiBy the time the ship draws near, it’s pretty clear that it’s Wyveronian. The flag’s stylized red dragon against the black background tells me as much, as does the ship’s name emblazoned on the side: Sea Flame.“At least they’re in human form,” Niko mumbles beside me. “Though, I’m pretty sure I can take ‘em regardless.”I exhale, turning to my Beta. “You’ve never once fought one of them. Hell, you’ve never even seen one of them shifted. Neither have I.”He shrugs. “So? Doesn’t mean we can’t take them down.”All I can do is shake my head. “You’d be better off bringing Hank on deck. At least he has wings too. Maybe they’ll bond.” I’m not much in the mood for this kind of levity, but it seems to come out without trying when I’m around Niko.He just gives me a smirk in response and turns back to the approaching ship. “What do you suppose they want?”“Whatever it is, I’ll deal with it. It’s a good opportunity to reach out to them. It’s impossible to send diplomats there.”The Sea Flame

The Plan Comes Together

ZachariahThe castle is bustling with activity today, and I wish I could just run off in my wolf form and forget any of this bullshit even exists. Already, carriages are arriving with women I’m supposed to choose from to be my breeder.Which is completely, absolutely disgusting. What am I, nothing but a beast, a vessel full of seed to sow into a woman who is herself nothing but an incubator?I want nothing, fucking nothing, to do with any of this. But Lucas came up with a workable, though equally-revolting, plan to get around this. As much as I don’t want to do this to a friend, I’m going to have to talk to April and see if she’ll go along with it.I reach out to her in the mind-link as I finish getting dressed. “April, are you busy?”She answers quickly. “Not really. Just watching your caravans of breeder women arriving.” Even in the mind-link, I can sense that her tone is a bit snarkier than usual. That’s odd.Still, I let out a groan just thinking about the breeder thing. I haven’t

A Whole New World

MaddieI reach up and take my doll off the shelf in our back bedroom, the room I share with Katy. I’ve had the doll since I was a little girl. I named her Tessa long ago, but the reason why is lost to memory. Not a single dust mite flies off when I pull her down and hold her close. No, I keep this shelf very clean, the one with the few treasured keepsakes our family owns. Cindy’s baby rattle, Katy’s wooden kitten that our father carved from teak wood, and Josh’s toy horse, also made by Father’s hand, sit in their places on the spotless shelf.I won’t take Tessa with me to the castle. That would be silly, though I will miss seeing her every day. Mother made her with rags when I was small, and the gingham dress she’s wearing, though tattered, has been mended many times through the years. After giving her a little hug, I set her back on the shelf and grab my bag. It’s also homemade, sewn together by Mother from the prettiest old sheets we had. She stayed up all night hand sewing it so, a
