Kristine POVFour months later, after a high-risk pregnancy, “One more push, Luna,” the doctor said calmly. I felt anything but calm. The pain was just bearable. You knew there would be pain with labor, but you never could really anticipate what that pain would be like. Zack held my body up, and I pushed with all my might.I felt the release as my baby’s head came through, and then their little body slipped out. I slumped back, panting as Zack kissed my forehead, “You did it baby,” he murmured as he looked at the little baby being placed on my chest. I had tears in my eyes and looked at Zack to see he also had tears.He put his arms around both of us, and we simply sat like that for a few moments. “Luna, Alpha … we need to take the pup to weigh and measure him,” the nurse said softly, not wanting to intrude on our family moment. Zack stepped back slightly to allow the nurse to take our baby boy from our arms.Zack continued to hold me, and I cried in his arms at the arrival of our pup.
