HAZEL’S POV As soon as the conference wrapped up, my mansion transformed into a cage. It's no longer comfortable for me to stay in. It wasn’t because anyone had pointed a finger at me. My name hadn’t come up in accusations,and yet, I could feel the shift, the murmur of an impending storm. I stood by the window, arms wrapped tightly around myself, trying to fend off the chill that seeped into my bones. The silence in the room thickened, each tick of the clock heavy with unspoken words. Behind me, the television droned on, reporters tearing apart every detail Celeste had spilled. Their overlapping voices created a cacophony of theories and questions flooding the airwaves. I snapped the TV off, and in the sudden stillness, I felt the weight of dread settle deeper.
