Lahat ng Kabanata ng REBIRTH: I REFUSE TO BE LUNA: Kabanata 131 - Kabanata 140

Lyra's POV:Lyra was furious. No, she shook her head. Furious was a light word, it wasn’t adequate to describe the amount of rage that was boiling within her. She was’t just furious, she was livid, burning and her health was seething.Today was going to be Nyssa’s mating day and the thought of Nyssa finally getting a man like Damien was more than enough for her to bear. Lyra tried to push the ceremony off her mind, but no matter what she did, it seemed to be stuck. And right now, every breath she took now felt like fire in her lungs. Why Nyssa? Why not me? Why not me?Those were the thoughts that kept on spiraling into her mind. What gave Nyssa the right to be able to live with Damien, what gave her the right to dress up and get mated to a powerful alpha? Those and more questions kept on endlessly repeating inside Lyra's mind. And since she couldn’t stop thinking about it, she tried to understand it. After all, maybe that could work to calm her down. But no, all it did was increase her

I blinked, and for a split second, I froze as I stared right at Lyra.I froze not because it was a surprise to see her. The truth was that, if there was anyone I had expected to crash the ceremony, it would have been her.Lyra had been my best friend for decades. I knew what she thought most of the time, and there was no way she would be able to resist the urge to show up. So, while I wasn’t surprised that she had showed up, I was surprised by just how little I cared about her presence.Even though I knew she was going to come, I had expected a small part of me to feel anger at the sight of her, or maybe satisfaction at finally winning. But instead, I felt nothing at all.The desire to walk over to her and send her out of the hall wasn’t even there, even when I momentarily tried to muster it up. Our eyes met, and I watched her grow tense.A flash of fear passed through her eyes, overclouding her rage. She took a step backwards, and prepared to run, but instead of walking towards her li

Damien's POV:"Nyssa?" I called out with a pained voice. One second, everything had been perfect. And the next, she had screamed with far more pain in her voice than I had ever heard before in anyone else's voice. The sound was so harsh and loud that it ripped through the room like the spinning blade of a fan. The moment I heard her scream, I sat upright, my body moving before my brain had even gotten the chance to send the signal to it."Nyssa!" I called out again, my voice filled with fear as I reached out my trembling hands towards her.Nyssa had doubled over on the bed, both of her hands were clutching her head and her entire body was shaking and convulsing, as though she was having a seizure so painful, she could not even control herself.A second after I called out to her, another scream rippled out of her throat. It was raw, agonized, and just terrified enough that for a second, my heart stopped with complete fear.I immediately reached for her shoulders and grabbed it, taking e

Lyra's POV:She should have left. She should have. And yet, why was she still here? No matter how long she thought, or how hard she tried. She just couldn’t bring herself to leave. That thought of leaving the ceremony had crossed Lyra's mind at least twenty times since the moment it ended. And yet, she was still there, still standing inside a grand hall that was slowly turning empty. Still holding a half-empty glass and pretending as though she belonged.Even though she didn’t want to acknowledge it, she knew the real reason why she was still there. Nyssa had hurt her. And she hadn’t done it with words, threats or violence. No, Nyssa had hurt her by the absence of reaction in her gaze when she noticed Lyra. The casual dismissal and the ease with which Nyssa had turned around still burned brightly in her mind. She could still recall how frozen she had been when she realized that Nyssa didn’t even care about her. She had never felt so ignored, so empty, so useless before in her life. And

Nyssa's POV: The very first thing I felt when I woke up was warmth, and I let out a sigh of relief when I realized that the pain was finally gone. For one, long second, I closed my eyes back and took a deep breath, letting the feeling of warmth I felt from him ground me. The splitting agony that had nearly split my head up was now gone. And the feeling of being free from pain was heavenly. And yet, the memories of the intense pain I felt had caused a small amount of trauma. So, before even opening my eyes, I raised my head up, expecting a slight stab of pain, but I felt nothing. I let out a relieved sigh and smiled as I fully opened my eyes and looked around the chambers. I had woken up later than I had expected. It was late enough that the sunlight streaming into the chambers had painted it into a fully golden room. It was at least mid-morning. I remembered the pain, but for about a minute after I woke up, I could not remember anything else. The memory of the past day came cras
