บททั้งหมดของ The Alphas Broken Mate: บทที่ 31 - บทที่ 40

IRISTwo days of having Timothy and three other scouts hover around me was starting to crack my sanity.Their heavy boots thudded against the ground, gravel crunching underneath their weights. One of them breathed too loud and I snapped, turning sharply. They all came to a halt, Timothy holding an apologetic expression while the others looked like they would be anywhere but here. The feeling was mutual.“I’m heading to Alpha Ryker’s chambers.” I announced, crossing my arms. “I would appreciate it if you gentlemen could give me some privacy.”A frown formed on Alan’s face, the youngest. “Uh I don’t think-““Alpha Kade’s instructions were clear.” Timothy cut in sharply, his tone flickering with something too close to jealousy.Cute. But I didn’t have patience to have four grown wolves breathing down my neck. Not today.I tilted my head to the side, meeting his gaze. “Are you trying to say the alpha of the Moonveil pack isn’t strong enough to keep an eye on me?”Three out of the four pal

KADEThe eerie creak of the door forged inside this twisted tree echoed in the forest.Ash wouldn’t stop shuffling on his feet, his boots squelching into the mud was only adding to my unease.A little child peeked from behind the door, suspicion and fear twirling in his eyes. I stepped forward, ignoring how he shrunk away.“We’re here to see the witch.”His eyes widened. “There’s no witch here, wolf. Go back to where you came from.”Before I could speak, ash brushed past me, quick enough that the child didn’t have the chance to slam the door in our faces. Ash caught his tiny wrist, pulling him up into mid air.“Ash-““This isn’t a child,” Ash said tightly even as he thrashed against his unforgiving grip. “Now let us in before I cut out that serpent tongue of yours.”Before my very eyes, the child shifted. Pale skin covered with scales, bright golden eyes, and a forked tongue. I couldn’t hide my surprise.I’d heard of creatures other than werewolves, I wasn’t unfortunate enough to cros

IRISThe time I loathed the most was fast approaching. Dramatic but true. The Blossom Spring Festival was an entirety of finding the best wine in the cooler, dodging the pack’s weary gazes, silently asking why I was even here. This time was no different. In fact, it was worse. Because I was stuck on the decoration team. That meant I had to meet here every weekend until the day of the festival. That also meant catching stray stares earlier than anticipated.I let out a deep sigh, staring at the box of fake sprung flowers. “At least they’re staying away from me this time.” I muttered, hauling the box with both hands. My steps staggered, the weight shifting until a hand held the box steady. My head snapped up, pulse pounding. It was a girl. A young cub, not more than thirteen. Her green eyes pierced into me like they were trying to rip away everything I hid.“Thank you-““I wonder what kind of spell you placed on the alpha.” She whispered, leaning in.I blinked. “What?”She let go, takin

ASHWe had six days left until Kade was left powerless forever. It would have been more if the hardheaded wolf didn’t insist on taking a trip back to his pack to make sure personally that the festival arrangements were in place. If you asked me, I would say he had his priorities mixed up. Or Kade was still arrogant, thinking the witch’s spell on him would eventually fade. Either way, I wasn’t about to let that happen. We had a swarm of hybrids still roaming around our territories. All we had to do was find one and bring it back to the witch.“I’ll search for trails concerning anything suspicious,” I said to Kade. “Maybe it will lead us to one of the hybrids.”He didn’t reply, just stared into space like he could see something no one else could. Very out of character. Maybe I was mistaken, the spell had an effect on him.I heaved a sigh, slinging my bag over my shoulder, the sharp scent of pine and wet soil whipping through the cold air. “The faster we find the hybrids the faster we p

KADEI couldn’t tell how long I stared at that crack in the ceiling. From the point of impact to the lines spiderwebbbing around the concrete. My jaw clenched. Not from the unease gnawing at me the minute we stepped into this city. Not even from that damned faucet dripping with water, the sound grating in my nerves all the way from the bathroom. The sole purpose of my unease was her.Iris.Any time I remembered the way her eyes glistened, like she was barely holding herself together. That was able to undo me quicker than losing my ability to shift.Stupid but true.I couldn’t understand why it meant more to me if she was hurt. Couldn’t understand why my chest felt heavy, why my mind wouldn’t rest knowing that I had done something I couldn’t take back. The idea of Iris hating slowly pushed me to insanity. What the hell was I thinking going after that creature? Storming toward it like I couldn’t feel the strain of the curse tugging at my speed?A sharp pain cut straight through me like
