3 days later, Marvin's pov, “Is there any news about her?”. I asked him as he stepped inside my office. I did not even leave him the chance to breathe or feel comfortable. He did not answer me. And seeing the guilty expression on his face as he slightly lowered his head, told me everything I needed to hear. The search for her was unsuccessful… again. “You may leave”. I said to him after clenching my fists. I was in no mood today to yell at him. Neither was I in the mood to blame him for not being able to find her. It has been close to 9 years since she left. And the fact that I have not been able to find her or any trace of her ever since then, showed me that I had overestimated her. I rubbed my palms on my face, and after I removed my palms from my face and saw that he still stood there and had not moved an inch, made me frown at him and furrow my brows. “Didn't I just permit you to leave? What are you still doing here?”. I demanded, not expecting that he would fall to his

“How is this possible?”. I muttered, as I wanted to understand why they looked so much like her? “We are sorry, Mister. My sister and I did not mean to bump into you”. The boy who had two of his center teeth missing, said to me while massaging his forehead. His sister also massaged her forehead, and when she opened her mouth, I saw she was missing a few teeth also. I squatted, as I was much taller than them. “Where is your Mom, kids?”. I asked them, and just when my hands reached out to touch their shoulders, someone appeared out of the blue. It was a young lady. Her hands were placed on her laps as she bent forward a bit and was panting fast, as if she had run a marathon. “Le- Lewis, Lily, come over here. Did I permit you to run around like that? Do you want to put me in trouble?”. She asked while breathing heavily, before she grabbed their hands and took them to her side. “Did they disturb you, fine Mister?”. She asked me, but I didn't reply to her and rose up to my feet. S

The car pulled over in the parking lot of a massive hospital building. It was the biggest hospital in Sally City. I had told the president if he wanted me to find a cure for the virus, I would not settle for less. So he had this hospital prepared for my use, and had ordered everyone to welcome me and treat me with respect. I got out of the car. There was a black mask already on my face, and dipping my hand inside my coat’s pocket, I took out another piece of sanitized face mask and offered it to Clara after she got out of the car. She paused for a minute. Staring at the mask in my hand, and staring back at me. “What is that?”. She asked. “Are you blind? It is a mask”. I said, but she immediately dismissed me after she understood what I meant for her to do. “No. No, no”. She shook her head at me, and her arms made an X-sign as she dismissed me again, saying, “I am not like you. I am not going to wear that awful mask. Do you want me to suffocate?”. She was still complaining when

“I am really glad there is someone like you in this world”. Claire said to me as she rose up from the chair she was sitting on. She hasn't stopped smiling since the moment I gave her those pills, which she thought and believed were her lifesaver.Unfortunately, it was otherwise. “I will take my leave now. But, I really hope that once everything is settled, I will see the true face of my benefactor”. She said to me, before she left my office. A few seconds passed.Clara rose from the sofa and came to stand in front of my desk. She even went as far as sitting on top of my desk, and she was staring at me so intensively. “What is it this time?”. I asked her.“Is it over? Just like that? Are you seriously going to help her get pregnant? I mean, is that part of the plan?”. “I had initially thought you were going to inject her with some deadly medicine, and make her disappear from this world. I did not expect you would do the opposite”. She said to me, looking confused, as if she did no

Daisy’s pov, “Why?! Why is he avoiding me after the passionate night we spent together?!”. I scattered the things on my desk as I yelled and clenched my fists tightly. “You must calm down, lady Daisy. It's not good for your health. And, there we still have Cole's company to worry about. We have not made them lose face in the competition. We must focus on winning and let go of any distractions”. Serena said to me. Her words were true, but they made me more angry.I massaged my temple, and with a dismissive wave of my hand, I said to her, “Get me a cup of coffee right now”. “I will be right back”. She excused herself from my office, while I returned to my seat.My elbows rested on the empty desk, with my face resting on the palms of my hands. “F*cking 8 years, and he still got his eyes fixed on that woman. What does he even see in her?”. If my veins could explode, they would have by now, because of the burning sensation I was feeling. To think he would ignore a beauty like me due
