Semua Bab The Naive Lady Is Gone: No Longer The Docile Fool: Bab 51 - Bab 60

Mr Ricardo’s pov, “Sir, your daughter has been admitted to a hospital and is currently unconscious!”. The head of my bodyguard fell to one of his knees as he reported to me. I was seated in my office chair, with my back against him. I frowned and removed the cigarette in my mouth, as I slowly released smoke through my mouth, and some through my nose. My hand around my chair tightened. “What happened to her?”. I asked with a groan. “She-”. My eyes darkened, and I rose to my feet, with my hand holding my walking stick firmly. I turned to him and paused for a few seconds as I stared down at him, before I went and stood in front of him. “Look at me”. I ordered him, while the veins in my neck popped out. “Is it related to that bastard?”. I asked him as I gritted my teeth. I have not forgotten the humiliation I went through 8 years ago at his hands. How he infiltrated my house, attacked me, and hurt my leg. That day was something I could never in this lifetime forge

I arrived inside the ward after opening the door. And there, I saw her. She was lying unconscious on the bed. “Leave us”. I said to the young lady who followed her around. She hesitated, but left after taking several glances at Daisy. I went and stood by the side of the bed, and before I could do anything else, a doctor suddenly came in. “How is she?”. I spared him no second and asked. “She is alright, Mr Marvin. She is just exhausted and will recover fully after having some rest”. He replied to me. I nodded. “Make sure you take care of the child. Nothing should happen to it, or else…” I said to him, before I left the ward without sparing her another glance. It has been 8 years, and she has never given up on me. Very well, then. Since she badly wanted to remain by my side for my power, I could fulfill her wish. Maybe that would make my wife come out of her hiding place, thinking that she was free. And if I got my hands on her, I would never make the same mista

I found myself on the balcony, with my arms resting on the railings, as I sighed over and over again. I suddenly began to look back to the person I used to be, before I looked at the current me and asked myself, “Am I cruel? Have I become so cruel?”. I wondered, but looking back at how everyone trampled on me when I wasn't like this, caused my eyes to darken, and I held the railings tightly. “I am not cruel. This is how the world wants me to be”. I declared, before I wiped off the drop of tear that escaped my eye, and I turned and left the balcony. I did not have the time to feel sorrowful or miserable, not when I still had so many things to do. I returned to the living room, where I saw Clara waiting. “Are you alright? Have you become calm?”. She rose from the sofa and went ahead to place her hand on my shoulder as she asked me. She might not look like it, but I could tell she was worried about me. It was written in her eyes, and I could see it. I smiled at her as I replied, “

“I have a very important announcement to say. Or rather, I have something important I must say”. I broke the silence in the dining room and said, causing all eyes to turn to me as they stared at me. “Huh. An important thing to say? What is it?”. Clara asked as she directed the spoon containing the soup to the mouth. After she swallowed the soup, she cleared her throat and added, “Why did you not mention this to me in the kitchen? Did it slip your mind?”. “No, it did not”. I replied to her, and taking a deep breath, the look in my eyes turned serious, and my voice changed from being friendly to icy. I said, “Clara, after I returned to the estate, you noticed that something was wrong somewhere with me and asked me about it in the kitchen”. “Yeah, I know. Wasn't it because of that Travis guy?”. Clara casually asked, as she continued to drink from her soup. “No, it was not completely because of him”. I told her, and before she could get the chance to say any other thing to me, I cont

I hurried to the exit door and opened it, instantly crossing paths with Evans and almost bumping into him. The cell phone in my hand fell to the ground as I grabbed his shoulders. “Tell me. What was the clue you were talking about?!”. I asked him with a shaky breath. I was desperate and needed to hear the answer directly from his own mouth. “Well? Speak already! I don't have all the time to wait”. I demanded impatiently. “Dignolly City. We found traces of doctor Kevin Robert there. At long last!”. Evans exclaimed, and for once, after my heart skipped a beat, I returned to the penthouse and slowly went ahead to take a seat on the sofa. I allowed Evans’ words to reply and sink inside my head over and over ahead. To think Doctor Kevin Robert hid himself in such a place like that. I gritted my teeth thinking about it. “Have you-”. I stared at Evans and tried to say, but I could not finish what I wanted to say, because he interrupted. “Don't worry about that, boss. I have already
