41CLEOPATRA I fell back on the bed panting heavily for breath. The ward had a raw smell of sex and sweat. Valentine sat on the couch opposite watching intently as I tried to gather myself. I had a fluttery feeling deep down my stomach. I felt a throb between my legs. I guess my sex drive was terribly high today because I wanted more. I stepped down from the bed. Valentine studied quietly with a stoic expression. I went down on my knees before him, held his gaze and slowly undid his belt.“Let me give you a reward, my big bad boy." His lips cracked slightly apart. He eases himself into the chair, I took out his belt and freed the mighty monster who had been waiting all this while. It had stretched to full length and was rock hard. I gave it a pat. It twitched under my touch. The cap glistened. My throat bobbed. I ran the tip of my tongue over the cap, Valentine drove his hands into my hair and squirmed, “Do it daredevil." I gave a triumphant smile and gently took time to e

42VALENTINE "Will she be okay with this?” Marcelo asked by the time I was done sharing my plans with him."I don't care…" I drove my hands into my pocket. The wind swung by waving the flowers about. Marcelo stepped up close to me.“Everyone can see how you feel about her…" "What are you saying?”"Do you pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about? You love her, boss.”"Love?” The words felt like a bitter pill on my tongue, I chuckled softly. Why do I feel this way after saying this? My guts twisted. "How do you feel right now?” "You want to protect her. You want to keep her safe … I see that is the reason why you are marrying her,” He blurted out the words reeling in my mind."Yes. I don't love her… love isn't my thing," I responded, a huge lump lodged in my throat. Marcelo's lips cracked in a smirk and he turned around.“Make sure she doesn't find out," I instructed him. He bowed and left. I'm doing this just to protect her, nothing more or less. I can't afford

CLEOPATRA He was acting suspicious. I laid on my side while staring at the white dress laid next to me. I recalled his words. He thought of me when he saw the dress and decided to get them and now he wants me to wear them. My chest fluttered. I was grinning widely to myself as I imagined myself dressed up and walking down the aisle.“Eish, Cleo get a grip of yourself!!" I smacked my head and jumped down the bed. My phone beeped next to me. It was a text from Valentine.“Marcelo will pick you up at 8. Be ready before then." I exhaled and tossed the phone on the bed. Was this a date?Deep down, my stomach flustered with butterflies. I couldn't stop thinking about his nice gesture. I am going on a date with the most feared and handsome man. I took my bath gleefully, thousands of thoughts roamed freely in my head. At 7:45 pm, I heard a knock on my door.“Are you ready?" Marcelo called from the door. I exhaled with satisfaction as I clipped the last earrings. I had light makeup

VALENTINE My eyes stung. My jaws set into a hard line. The warehouse had been broken by those scum bags. I pushed open the door with a burning rage. It was empty. Those riffraffs swept the place clean. Not even any merchandise was left. “Here boss. We found this lying outside the warehouse," Derrick, one of the guards bringing the cargo from Costa Rica, stretched a piece of note to me. I opened the note with a chest panting hard for revenge. |Catch us if you can| The note read. At the end of the note, a tiny dagger symbol was placed. The Green skaters. "Shit!!!” I cussed and tossed the paper away."I'll crush you ,Declan,” I sweep my eyes again through the empty warehouse. Not only did he kidnap my cargo, he also stole from me."Let's go,” I ordered Derrick. He nodded."Move!!!!!” Derrick yelled out loudly and all the other guys trouped behind us. We got into our cars and drove off. I held the steering with fury. I will rip off Declan’s throat when we meet. I'll ma

45CLEOPATRA The fast beat of my chest jarred into my thoughts. I was getting goosebumps all over my body. What could she possibly want to say to me?"I'm sorry,” she apologized. "What? Why are you…”"I've hurt you in the past. I didn't get a chance to get to know the sweet person you are. I tried to take you down when I should have treated you with love,” she sniffled."I was just…. Jealous,” Her voice dropped low, " You were getting Valentine's attraction. He was getting distracted and I felt it would be good to eliminate…. You,” she whispered in the last part. "Please, find a place in your heart and forgive me. I have spoken to Valentine…”"Why are you doing this?" She chuckled nervously, “I'm being sincere, Cleopatra. I've been haunted by my misdeed to you." I exhaled.“Okay. I forgive you." It's fine. I just need to forgive her right.“Seriously?" “Adeline, I hold no grudge against you. I forgive you," I repeated. She let out a long heave, “Thank you so much, Cleo. I wa

VALENTINE My thoughts are still been disturbed by Marcelo's call. Marcelo woke me up with a call about Cleopatra. I pray she doesn't get herself entangled in danger before I return. Marcelo said she has been on the phone all day, smiling broadly. She has never left her phone and it was as though she found a new friend whom she couldn't spend a day without. Was this friend a male or female? I slammed my hands hard on the mahogany table. It rattled heavily. The room fell silent. I was in the middle of a meeting with our clan members when Cleopatra slipped into my thoughts. These guys were getting noisy and into my head.“We are in the middle of a serious crisis," I spoke with fury pulsing through my veins, “We have a serious case before us and you all are only concerned with your personal issues," My eyes scanned the room. The faces fell. The room remained quiet. I walked out of my table. We were only discussing how to infiltrate our rival's camo and get what is ours when a feud b

CLEOPATRA I hissed loudly again for the umpteenth time. The world seemed to be too quiet today. Why was no one talking to me? I buried my head between my folded knees. Adeline hasn't been online all day. The house was as quiet as a morgue house. Marcelo stayed out of sight. I checked the time, It was past 3pm. I wish the time would fly quickly. I can't force myself to sleep again. I have been sleeping all day. My sides ached. My lunch sat at the table barely untouched. My phone chimed, it was a text from Adeline. Finally, I exhaled and opened up the text.|I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU TODAY|A smile crossed my face and I returned the text: |SAME HERE. SOMETHING CAME UP| |WHAT'S WRONG?| I sat up and crossed my knees:|I HAVE BEEN GROUNDED. I CAN'T LEAVE THE MANSION| The door was pulled open without a knock. Marcelo trudged in like he owned the room. My brows furrowed. “You know you were meant to knock before entering a lady's room?" I asked with spite in my tone.“How wi

VALENTINE I held the invitation card in my hands. This was the card that determined how tonight's game would play out. This card will give us an entrance into the party."The uniforms are ready," Derrick announced.I needed one more thing: Camelia. Fedora walked by looking downcast and devastated. The rest of the team were getting ready to leave for the mission. Her face slumped into disappointment when she saw Natie amongst the team. She lowered her head and walked away."Fedora…” I called out loud. The whole team stood at attention. No one moved and eyes rose to me. Fedora went down on her knees."Get her,” I motioned two of the guards. They dropped their guns and dragged her up to me."I need your help…” She jerked her head up. Surprise gleamed wide across her face“M…. My help?” Her lips shuddered."Yes,” I waved my hands in dismissal of the other team."Come with me,

49CLEOPATRA Through my hazy vision, I saw Marcelo talking to the doctor in hushed tones."Will she wake up?”" Yes. But it would take a long time.”"Is she okay? Are there any major damages?”The doctor waved, " She is out of danger thankfully.” Marcelo's chest fell in relief."Let's give her time to rest,” The doctor patted his shoulders and took his leave. Marcelo held my hands, " I'm sorry Boss. I failed to protect her.” Protect me? Was all that strict orders a protection? I doubt it. They are all captors and know nothing about protection. He turned around and left the ward. When I was sure everyone had left, I opened my eyes with a loud gasp. My dress was folded on the table. I yanked off the IV running through my wrist. I stripped off the hospital dress which reeked of and medicine. A nurse barged in. My face lost its color. I had been caught in my

VALENTINE It was really tough over here. Declan's men were all over the place. While I stood guard behind Fedora, the rest of the team scouted the place for the key. Declan was a very discreet man who knew how to hide important things. Gregory was always casting discreet glances at Fedora every now and then like he suspected foul play. He held her close to his sides and went about introducing her to all the dignitaries.“Why does a pretty lady have a mask on?” Salvador intoned, his eyes glinted sensually. He stared lewdly at her chest and ran his tongue over his bottom lip. Gregory caught his stare and grinned, "It is her wish, Sal.” He turned Fedora, placed his hand over her shoulders and drew her close, "Say Hello Camelia.” Fedora remained mute. Her eyes scoured through the men's faces. They had wide smirks plastered over their faces. Time ticked like a bomb. Fedora didn't utter a word, "Camelia, Ar
