New Surprise News

Keisha’s POV By the time we make it back home, Kole’s already checking the time. He’s got thirty minutes to get to his next case.Luckily, he’s not heading downtown, he’s going out to Maybrook. That’s only about fifteen minutes from us, so he’s cutting it close, but not that close. He pulls up, hops out, comes around to my side, and opens the door.“Love you,” he says, leaning in to kiss me, and then Mabel.“Love you too. Drive safe.”He nods once, quick and focused, then he’s gone.Gone like lightning.I just stand there for a second, shaking my head.“Boy, I hope he makes it in time…”I turn and head inside. Our beautiful three-story townhouse. As I step inside, kicking the door shut behind me, taking a second to just breathe. It’s quiet, calm, and nice.I mean, yeah, not gonna lie, I’d love something like Knox and Sienna’s house. Big, open, all that space. But honestly?Their house is cheaper than ours and three times the size, so… I’m not even about to go there. It is what it is.

Pests

Crandon’s POVThursday rolls around, and for once, everything feels… good.Busy, but good. The office is moving, cases are flowing, and for me personally?Yeah… life’s in a solid place.Especially with my girl, Tempest.Yeah, I said it, my girl. She’s been staying with me for a few weeks now, and honestly? We’ve been doing great. No pressure, no drama… just easy. And that creeper? He finally stopped. No more random gifts. No more weird deliveries.Nothing.Hopefully, he packed up whatever obsession he had and disappeared off the face of the earth, because I’m more than fine with that.Still, we’re not stupid.Tempest is still paying rent and utilities at her place, and we check on it a few times a week. Making sure nothing’s sitting on her porch, nothing out of place. So far? It's been clear. And us?We're good.We still haven’t had full on sex yet, but I’m not rushing it.That’s not where I’m at anymore.Back in my early twenties? Man… I was wild.Meet a girl, have a drink, and next

Vague Thoughts

Crandon's POV (continued)We’re still sitting in Sienna’s office, and she’s deep into it now.Not just the attack on her but everything that came after, from the court case to that so-called “accident.”And the aftermath. She’s telling Tempest about the man’s wife, and how she had a full breakdown after everything came out. About the kids. About how his family circled the wagons and protected him like he was the victim in all of this. How the wealthy assholes kept his name quiet. His identity hidden.Didn’t lift a finger to help the woman he destroyed or the grandchildren caught in the middle, and are selfish as hell.I lean back in my chair, jaw tight.People like that don’t just disappear. They wait until the kids are older. They watch from the bushes, and then—Knock. Knock.Sienna straightens slightly. “Come in.”The door opens up, and she blinks, caught off guard.“Shane? What the hell are you doing here? You’re supposed to be on vacation.”He chuckles, rubbing the back of his ne

Laws of Life

Shane’s POVI sit across from Talis in his office, trying to keep my thoughts from spiraling.Maverick referred me to him because he was buried in work, and honestly, I get it. The man’s juggling a lot right now.Still… Talis is a top-tier attorney. One of the best divorce lawyers in the area, and right now, I need the best.He leans back slightly, studying me. “So… what can I do for you, Shane? The kids are still at your cousin’s place, right?”I exhale slowly, dragging a hand down my face.“Yeah. They’re still there.”And when I say I panicked?I panicked.I had to call my cousin just to make sure. The kids are fine they were swimming, laughing, just being kids.My mom even offered to hop on a red-eye and go down there herself to make sure everything stays smooth.I shake my head. “I just… I panicked, man. I don’t even know what to do.”Talis nods, calm as ever. “Okay. Let’s take this step by step. You already filed on the grounds of infidelity and irreconcilable differences.”He p

His Return

Maya’s POVOkay, I’m not gonna lie, I am nervous. I’m nervous for Shane. Because the shit that he is going through, and what’s happening to him… it’s insane. This woman has literally threatened to take his pride and joy from him, his children. And he has never, not once, threatened her with the kids. He’s always said he wanted to work things out amicably with Isla. And she’s just like… no.Who wants to hold somebody captive just to keep them miserable? I’ve never understood that. It’s a choice, and that choice is a bad one.I’m not gonna lie, when Stanley was getting married, he threw all types of bullshit at me.“Oh, you can be my side chick.”“Oh, you can be my mistress.”“We can just hide the baby… or you could get rid of the baby and still be my mistress.”That was a big-ass no for me.First of all, I was not in love with him. I mean, I loved him, but I wasn’t that in love with him.Second of all, I was not getting rid of my child. Period.Third of all, I was with him first—so why

Pissed

Isla’s POVOkay… so maybe I went a little too far.I mean, I didn’t mean to threaten Shane with the kids, but I needed him to listen, because whatever that girl is offering him? It’s just sex. That’s it. There's no real companionship. No substance. Nothing. And I know for a fact she’s not going to be taking care of my children. From what I know, she’s got one daughter by that fucking mayor, and she barely takes care of her. So how the hell is she supposed to take care of my three? She’s not.So she can miss me with that shit. Fuck her.I get up from my bed in my hotel room, get ready for the day, and check out before twelve. This is technically my last day here, because I’m leaving tonight.I drive over to Shane’s cousin’s house, already knowing I’m about to see her stank face. And I already know she’s gonna have an attitude, because yeah, I threatened her cousin. And I know my kids told him what I said. I know they did. They love their dad, and they talk to him all the time.As soon

New Opportunities and News

Keisha’s POV Okay, bitch. Tell me what happened. You called me sounding really pissed. Sienna sighs. “You fucking jinxed me. Why in the hell am I pregnant?” I burst out laughing. “Well, that's a shocker, since you took three at-home tests and they all said negative.” She groans. “I decided to go to the clinic since everyone said I looked pregnant. I just left the fucking clinic. They did a blood test, and yes, I am pregnant, pregnant. My HCG levels are through the roof.” I laugh even harder. “Well, hopefully you’re not having twins.” She screams, “Stop pouring salt on me! How in the hell can I be pregnant on birth control?” I shake my head, still laughing. “Birth control is not a hundred percent, girlfriend. Abstinence is. And I know for a fact Knox is not letting one day go by without having sex. I know he’s not even letting you go two or three hours if he could help it. He might give you a break on your period, but that’s about it. Plus, the Michaels men have super spe

Courtcases and Packages

Kole’s POVThe restaurant case and my opening statement went very well. Shocker. The litigators in charge of the restaurant group don’t know shit, and even though I turned over everything and they reviewed the witness list, which now exceeds over 350 people and they still weren’t prepared for what we were gonna throw at them.So yeah… this case is about to be big. Another win, just like Universal Airlines. After wrapping up both cases for the day, I’m honestly relieved I didn’t have to go downtown to the Daley Center. Just Maybrook today. But the next one? That’s at Daley Plaza, so I already know I’m gonna have to deal with that parking garage headache.I pull up to the restaurant, grab our to-go bag, and sigh. Thank God Keisha is picking up Mabel today, because I do not feel like going over to my grandmother’s house and sitting there for a whole fucking hour. Every single time I go, she’s telling me what I’m doing wrong with my own child. So imagine when baby number two gets here. In

A Different Me

Crandon’s POVFriday morning hits, and I’m the one waking Tempest up.At this point, she’s basically living here, semi-permenantly, sleeping in my bed, moving through my house like it’s hers, and honestly, I don’t mind it. Not one bit. But today’s different. Her mom and her sister are flying in.Because they’re worried about her.And yeah… they should be.She’s shut down a little. Not completely, but enough for me to notice. Enough for it to bother me. This situation with that guy? It’s messing with her head. I can see it in the way she goes quiet, in the way her eyes drift when she thinks nobody’s watching.I keep telling her to think positive, but that shit sounds real easy when you’re not the one going through it. I’m on the outside looking in. I know what she told me, but I also know there’s always more to the story. There’s always the parts people don’t say out loud. The parts they bury.I asked her about going to therapy. She told me she’s done enough of that and she’s not ready

Pickups and Groceries

Crandon’s POVSo now we’re at O’Hare International Airport.Easy enough to get to, but the police presence, is crazy as hell. Lights, patrols, and security everywhere. I’m just glad we don’t have to sit off to the side like everybody else getting rushed, honked at, or ticketed. We pull up to the private hangar instead. A completely different world.I glance over at Tempest, and yeah… her whole energy has shifted. Completely. She’s lighter. Brighter. Damn near glowing. She looks excited, like genuinely giddy, to see her mom and her sister.I smile at that.“So,” I say, leaning back in my seat, “your mom, Diana. Is she nice? Mean? What am I walking into?”Tempest laughs. “My mom is lovely. And I already told you about my sister.”“I know,” I say, exhaling. “I’m just… nervous. It's my first time meeting her.”She tilts her head. “What, as my boyfriend?”I smirk. “Yeah. Unofficially official boyfriend. We never really put a label on it, but I’m labeling it now.”She laughs. “Okay… I like
