Aria's POVSeveral minutes passed in silence as we waited in the pit. Then a voice reached my ears from above; an angry, impatient voice.Logan.The metal grate above us opened with a clang, and his irritable face peered through. He sneered as his eyes caught mine."Well, well," he jeered. "Did you hear for yourself, Aria? Your beloved mate Denderick doesn't care enough about you to search properly. You are never leaving this place!"Logan's hands gripped my arm so tightly I could feel the bruises forming, his fingers digging painfully into my skin. "Take her child away from her!" He bellowed at Erinne."No!" I screamed, holding on to Edward. I tried to shy away from Erinne's hands, tried to even summon my witch powers, but nothing was working. Where was the power when I desperately needed it?Erinne wasted no time in prying Edward away from my hands. My son began to wail, his screams piercing my heart and my ears."Come on!" Logan growled, yanking me away from my son.************Th

Aria's POVI was dying. The cold sting of the dungeon air barely registered as I lay there, bleeding and broken. Every breath I took sent sharp waves of pain rippling through my body. I was drifting in and out of consciousness, my mind teetering on the edge of complete darkness. My body ached with unbearable agony. It almost pushed me to physical blindness; even every movement hurt like a thousand needles embedded in my skin."I told you this was unnecessary!" A female's voice finally broke through the fog in my head, sharp and accusing. It was Erinne.I could hear the sound of heavy boots echoing across the stone floor as someone paced. "You don't tell me what's necessary, Erinne. I decide how this goes."Logan was angry; I could tell. Even though they hadn't said anything, I knew exactly who they were talking about. Me."And what did that accomplish? She's half-dead!" Erinne snapped back, her voice growing closer, angrier. There was a pause. Logan must have stopped pacing. I could f

Denderick's POVThe stench of rot and blood hit me before my eyes adjusted to the dim light in the dungeon. I had prepared myself for the worst, but nothing could have steeled me for the horror that lay before me. The flickering light from the braziers illuminated rows of women- no, skeletons- chained to the walls, their bodies barely alive. Their hollow eyes, sunken and lifeless, stared blankly ahead. Some whimpered, their breaths shallow and ragged, while others sat motionless, as if death had already claimed them in spirit, if not yet in flesh. My heart lurched in pain as I saw them. This.... this was all Logan's doing. His depravity and wickedness knew no bounds.I swallowed the bile rising in my throat as I moved deeper into the room, my boots echoing across the stone floor. A table stood in the very middle of the room. Torture instruments lined the walls above the women's heads. The walls themselves were ominously dark with years and years of decay and.... something else. Somet

Aria's POVI drifted in and out of consciousness, caught between dreams and the sharp pain that shot through my body. It was hard to tell what was real and what wasn't. I could hear a voice, deep and familiar, murmuring to me through the haze. Denderick. It had to be him. But sometimes, it felt distant, like it wasn't there at all.I was aware of being held and carried, but I couldn't open my eyes. My head lolled to the side, and I could feel the rough fabric of a cloak brushing against my cheek. Each step jostled me, sending sharp aches through my ribs, but I couldn't even manage to cry out. Everything was dull like I was wrapped in fog. That voice again, was soft and reassuring. "You're safe, Aria. I've got you. We're going home."Home. The word lingered in the back of my mind. I wanted to believe it, wanted to hold on to that promise. But my body wouldn't cooperate. I was trapped in this state of semi-consciousness, my senses dulled by the exhaustion, the pain, and the torment Log

Logan's POVI felt the blood drain from my face. "Edward?" I repeated."Yes," Erinne said, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Aria's son. The child she claimed was yours."I stood there, frozen, as the weight of her words sank in. The child that had been hunting my thoughts for all this time... was right in front of me.And it was in Erinne's arms.I stared at the child in Erinne's arms, and a load of bile rose in my throat. Blonde hair. Bright eyes. The child was the spitting image of Denderick. How had I fallen for Aria's lies? How had I believed for even a second that this boy was mine?I gritted my teeth, feeling the anger bubbling up inside me, threatening to spill over. Was I that desperate for an heir?My eyes bore into the child, but I spoke to Erinne instead. "Where did you find the boy?"Erinne held the boy ever tighter to herself. That infuriating smugness never left her face. "I never killed him," she said casually, as if the whole thing had been some minor inconvenience. "I
