ZaraThe way his touch felt on me was something I would never forget in a hurry, it enveloped me so much in that short period of time and till now, I was still feeling the effects of whatever he had done to me. It didn’t help because the music within the ball was getting increasingly louder with every minute that passed, making it increasingly difficult to even concentrate on my feelings and emotions at that moment.“Damn you Ryan!” I snapped.I sighed yet again, feeling very tired at that moment because everything happening was something I didn't think would even happen in the first place. Coming here, I had thought would be a good way for me to relax especially with the way Ryan had been treating me like complete garbage ever since but apparently, this only meant that he brought me here simply because he wanted to show me off, an act I found not only prideful but condescending because I wasn’t a property or a tool to be showed off.The card Denver had given to me stared back at me a

ZaraThe lone wolf... The look on Ryan's face as soon as he heard those words was something I would never be able to forget in a hurry. It just felt like all his worst fears had come to pass in that moment, all wrapped up in a huge ball of anxiety and all the worst things he could ever imagine.I didn’t need a seer to tell me that whoever was at the other end of the call was Simon, no doubt the bearer of bad news. The phone clicked, indicating that the call had ended but still, not the fear that had clouded his face. Even though we were in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the ball, everywhere felt silent and the only thing that was ringing so loudly in my ears was the pounding of my heart, hitting so hard with every minute that passed.“Stay here.” he said, walking away.I had a good mind to argue but yet again, I realized this wasn’t proper. Even if I argued with him, it would get me nowhere simply because whatever it was that was happening in that moment was far bigger tha

ZaraI stood in complete silence just as the darkness settled in as my eyes tried to adjust. My hands shook by my side and no matter how much I tried to think about what this could mean, it still ended up with me being in a place I wasn’t even supposed to be in the first place.“What’s going on?” I muttered, fear lacing my voice. It just seemed like I had been sucked into something I knew I might never be able to get out of, seeing how bad this situation is. The minute I saw who they called the Lone Wolf, the power went out like it was waiting for that exact moment.Ryan stood some meters behind me and whatever he had going on in his mind, I knew it couldn’t be good, seeing that whatever he had planned was something we both would never begin to understand.“Stand behind me.” Denver muttered.“Like hell she would!” Ryan snapped.Even in the darkness of the room, I could feel him coming closer, shielding me from whoever this monster was.“No… I…” I didn’t even know what to say because

ZaraEverything inside me went still in a way that felt unnatural, like my body had finally decided it could not keep up with everything happening around me anymore while my mind tried to catch up with words that did not make sense no matter how many times I repeated them in my head, because mating trial was not something I had ever heard before tonight and yet the way Mira said it made it sound like my life had already been decided without my permission.I looked at Ryan first because he was the only thing in the room that felt even slightly familiar to me even though nothing about him had ever truly been safe since the day I met him, and I saw the way his jaw tightened so hard it looked like he was holding something back that could destroy everything in one second if it was released, while Mira stood like she owned every breath in the room and the men behind her filled the space with a kind of pressure that made it hard for me to even swallow properly.“What does she mean?” I asked

ZaraSimon led me further out of the building, away from the chaos that had come on during the battle with the Lone Wolf and into an already waiting car. At that moment, it just felt like I was totally disconnected from everything happening around me, like I was in another body entirely, a spectator of some sort as I tried to wrap my head around what had happened.“You are in shock, it's normal… just breathe through it all. It would be fine,” he said. His words did nothing to comfort me. In fact, it added to the already growing fear that threatened to choke me till I passed out. I closed my eyes for a bit, seeing if the lull and the dull noise around me would force me to sleep but that didn’t work. Instead, it just made me anxious all the more.“Ryan…” I muttered.I felt Simon’s eyes on me, watching me, seeing if I would break but the truth was I was beyond breaking because I felt nothing. The only thing I felt within me was a constant gnawing feeling that told me that this was far fr
