Chapter 21

AmaraI heard a feral growl. I gulped. This growl was Alpha Mark's. 'Yay My sweet mate' Zia was dancing in my head.Stupid her. He is the big bad wolf, nothing sweet about him, only salty. We kept running. This place was way bigger than our pack's territory. I could stay here forever, only if the alpha were someone else and not my cruel mate. The breeze felt amazing on my wolf fur. Zia suddenly became excited and increased her speed.Goosebumps rose on my body when the forest scent filled my nostrils. Ohh no, was he coming towards me? But why? I told Zia to run as fast as she could, but instead of listening to me, my stupid wolf stopped dead in her tracks and turned her head. The heavy sound of paws echoed through the forest.'Shit, Zia. Mark is coming here. He will kill us. Let's go.'But of course she was not ready to move.Suddenly the temperature dropped many degrees and I froze, because in the blink of an eye Mark appeared in front of me. He stood tall, his magnificent wolf for

Chapter 22

Magnus "What the fuck is happening here?" I growled, the sight before me like acid poured on my body. Roan and Amara flinched at my harsh tone. "Ohh, Alpha, we…we are just talking," Roan said, while my mate refused to make eye contact with me. 'Punch the beta', Mark screamed inside my head. "Don't you have work, Beta?" I tried my best to keep my voice composed, even though i was feeling a fire raging inside me. "Yes, Alpha, I have." His gaze jumped on Amara. Jealousy ripped through me, fuck. I had to fight the urge to rip out his eyeballs that dared to look at my woman, my mate. "Then go. Don't waste your time on chitchat," I barked. Roan's expression flickered with surprise but he nodded and turned to my mate. "Bye, Amara, see you soon." 'See you soon nah', this won't work I told myself. Then he walked out. Amara smiled at him and waved, like he was her friend. "Seems like you can't live without male company," I blurted out before I could stop myself. Her head snapped towa

Chapter 23

Amara I was still in shock over why Magnus had told me to have breakfast. What did he want? I was damn sure this alpha had a personality disorder. Ahh stupid him. 'He cares for us, my sweet mate' Zia purred. 'You're a pick-me wolf, not me. I'm sure he's making a plan to clear me from his path so he can make Chloe his luna. Came back to reality Zia.' 'No… ' 'What was Mark talking to you about?' I interrupted her, not wanting to hear Magnus's praise. 'Ohh… Mark was asking my name and seeking my permission to chase me next time.' Zia's voice was laced with affection. My mouth hung open. 'Wait, chase you? Shouldn't he be chasing Chloe's wolf?' 'No, Mark is ours, he wants me,' Zia snorted. 'You mean Mark doesn't hate us the way Magnus did?' I asked her, wanting confirmation that I'd heard correctly. 'Nah, Amara, he wants me as his mate. Magnus is the one who's a pain in the neck.' I sighed. 'It was expected, since a wolf tends to respect the bond more than the human do

Chapter 24

Magnus "Ready," I barked, ordering as my warriors stood in the row. "Yes, Alpha." They shouted, looking all set to attack. This time I wasn't going to leave Kurt. This fucker had become a nuisance in my life. I didn't call anyone from my alliance, because this was my fight. "Best of luck, son," Uncle Steve said, and placed his hand on my shoulder. I glanced in his direction. "Thanks, Uncle. I hope in my absence you'll look after my pack, just like last time when I was in Chloe's pack." He gave me his warm, fatherly smile. "Of course, son, go without any tension, everything is under my care." I sighed in relief, he was the only one I could count on. I didn't want to go anywhere, because of Amara. I wanted nothing but to stare at her, to stay in her warmth. Shit. What had I become, a lovesick pup, perhaps, still thinking about her with danger looming over me. "All the best, Alpha." Chloe came to my side with her fake smile, her eyes looking worn out. She kept yawnin

Chapter 25

Amara I didn't want to think about Magnus, but no matter what, my thoughts drifted toward him. He was going after the Alpha who was behind the previous attack on our pack. 'I hope he'll be safe.' Zia said, her voice laced with concern. I huffed. 'Of course he will. After all, he's the infamous Alpha Magnus, one of the most powerful alphas in the world. Besides, I don't care.' 'Ohh, please, we both know you do, Amara.' I ignored her, though she was right. It was because of this stupid mate bond. My heart squeezed in pain when he hugged Chloe, the sight was like venom injected into my body. Their relationship was a mystery to me, it felt like there was nothing romantic about it, like it was just an act to show others. 'Exactly, I noticed this too,' Zia chirped, wagging her tail. I shook my head, hoping my mind would go blank again. I tried my best to kill time, but like a fool I was secretly praying for my arrogant mate. I had no self-respect..the man who'd threatened to kill m

Chapter 26

Amara I was still in shock because the sight before me was incredible. Maybe I was dreaming.'Nah, you are not,' Zia said happily, doing a hiphop dance in my brain and kept saying, mine, mine.'Can you stop, Zia?' You're giving me a headache. She ignored me, and I focused on the man who happened to be my mate. He kept staring at me like a creep, his eyes brighter than usual. Wait — brighter than usual? And suddenly it struck me like lightning, this wasn't Magnus. This was his wolf, Mark."Alpha Mark," I whispered. Tried to be sure.He tucked his hands into his pockets and let out a chuckle. "So finally my little Amara recognized me," his voice was soft, too soft for someone as crazy and powerful as him.I shivered because the intensity in his blue orbs was hard to ignore, especially with that rare beautiful smile plastered on his face. With a nervous edge to my voice, I asked, "Why are you here, Alpha? Did I do something wrong?""Can I come inside?" He ignored my question and asked

Chapter 27

Amara "That was my first kiss, Alpha," I blurted out suddenly. This time, he went completely still. He kept looking at me with strange emotions in his eyes. Why this expression? He was behaving as if I'd told him the secret of the universe instead of just telling him about my first kiss. "Yours too," he said, after what felt like forever. I nodded, but my brows knitted together — mine too? Wait, what did that mean? My eyes snapped to him. He softly cupped my cheeks. "Amara, I'm happy it was me, your mate, who kissed you first." A blush crept onto my face. "And yes, you get it, you're my first too." My heart pounded at bullet-train speed while Zia jumped and howled inside my head. "Umm.. Alpha... why?" He chuckled and hooked his finger with mine. "What why? Obviously I was waiting for my mate. For you." I shouldn't have been shocked, since wolves wait for their real mates, but this wasn't the same with humans. So I blurted out my next question without thinking. "What about Mag

Chapter 28

Magnus My eyes opened when sunlight fell on my face. I sat up on the bed, but my hand quickly flew to my forehead — fuck, it was pounding like someone had hit it with hammer. Why wasn't I feeling fresh like every other morning? Even my body felt different. 'Mark, why is this headache bothering me? I called out to my wolf.'My brows knitted together when Mark didn't reply.'Mark.'Still no reply. Fuck, why wasn't he saying anything? He always woke up before me. Don't tell me my wolf left my body because of anger.'Mark. Where the hell are you,' I shouted through our shared mind.'Why are you screaming? I'm here,' he finally grumbled.'Since when did you start waking up late?' I asked, annoyed, making myself comfortable against the bed.'Did you forget I'm a wolf? A living being who can get tired and sick too,' he said, then let out a yawn.'Yeah, but it's never happened before. Besides, my head is fucking killing me.'Hearing that, he quickly healed my head's pain.'I hope you're not

Chapter 29

Amara Magnus's words were still ringing in my ears. Day after tomorrow he will be holding the Luna ceremony for Chloe, though I shouldn't be bothered as this was bound to happen, he'd already made that clear… still the pain didn't lessen. 'He betrayed us,' Zia howled in pain. I didn't reply, suppressing my own heartache. No, I couldn't react like this. Magnus wasn't mine. How could I forget the Goddess never granted me any happiness. All she gave me was a mate who was out of my league. 'We should do something, Amara, otherwise Magnus will mark Chloe and they'll seal the mate bond,' Zia said hopefully. I sighed and wiped my tears, though they kept coming. 'And what do you suggest, Zia? What's your plan? Didn't you hear Magnus?' 'But Amara…' Zia whimpered. 'No we will not do something that could put us in danger. And stop wasting your time and emotions on someone who doesn't give a damn about us. I know Mark, as a wolf, wanted us, but it's useless — Magnus is the one with real po

Chapter 30

Magnus The girl in front of me was shivering like a leaf, my fingers tapping the chair handle as I waited for her to speak. "Al... alpha... My.. my name is Cindy." "Hmm, so Cindy," I said calmly, though my voice was laced with a dangerous growl, "now tell me, do you hate your life?" She burst into tears. "I am...so sorry, Alpha, I didn't know that girl was related to you." Her tears didn't stop which irritated me even more. "Stop crying if you don't want me to pull out your eyeballs," I threatened coldly. Hearing me, she paled and hurriedly wiped her tears, still sobbing, shaking her head repeatedly. When my men, the ones I'd sent to protect Amara secretly, informed me how this bitchy woman named Cindy had insulted my omega, called her poor, called her names, it fucking enraged me. I wanted to teach this woman a lesson so she'd remember it for the rest of her miserable life. "You think so highly of yourself, don't you, low life wolf." I growled, folding my arms.
