After I asked whether I was the problem, he shook his head. When I asked if I needed to be bitten again, he said no to that too. That should have given me some relief. Instead, my desperate need to understand what was happening to Kai only grew stronger. Why had a giant wolf suddenly appeared in front of me? What exactly was needed for the incomplete bond they were hiding? Was it really that hard for him to make a decision? Harder than marking me, even after we knew the consequence was death? Frustrated, I headed to the coffee shop, hoping I’d find Zara there. Just as I expected, she was there talking to a young man who looked vaguely familiar.
