***Aries“Class, this is Ms. Aries,” the teacher, Mrs. Walker, instructed as she worked to quiet the giggling classroom.In unison, the children cried out, “Hi Ms. Aries.” Bright, beaming faces looked up at me as I stood at the front of the room.It was a class of 15 to 20 children, around the ages of eight or nine years old. From what the woman told me, they had never had an art teacher before. So, I started off with a few basic shapes and then added additional, overlaying shapes to create faces and landscapes. I assisted as they each doodled at their desks. Frustrated, little fingers scribbled and erased, drawings of all differing levels laid out on craft paper. Some got stuck and needed more help than others.
