MERILYNKairen stood at the other side of the door.I froze. My gaze held his. His mismatched eyes flickered between mine. He stepped in, standing in my space, his brows as expressive as always. He looked at me like he had no idea what to do, what to expect. It wasn't until his palm cupped the side of my face that I realized I’d been holding my breath. It was one thing to miss him for the whole month he was gone, for the entire week he was unconscious.I hadn't truly realized how much I'd missed him until now, when he stood before me. The back of my eyes stung, his face slowly blurred as tears pooled beneath my eyes.“Kairen,” I whispered.I didn't know who moved first, but the next minute, both of us were locked in a warm embrace. He cradled the back of my head, his other hand wrapped around my shoulder. My face buried in his chest, my hands wrapped around him as far as they could go.I missed this. His scent, his touch, his warmth, the sound of his heart beating right under my ear.
