“LUNA!” The loud shattering of ceramic shot through the air; shards flew all over the place.
I froze mid-step and stared at the broken ceramic bowls. “Oh, that’s bad.”
I stared at the maid; her face had gone pale, her eyes filled with dread as sweat dotted her forehead.
“I’m sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.” I smiled apologetically.
Her eyes darted to the top of the staircase as if waiting for my husband to materialize and yell at her.
I moved closer, my hand stroking her shoulder. “Relax. He’ll be too much in a good mood to care about some broken ceramic bowls.”
That was true. Warren would be too happy to care. After all his whiny texts for three days, pleading with me to come back early, I just couldn’t stay away.
“Forgive me for breaking the plates; I didn’t know you would be back this early.” The maid said, still trembling beneath my touch.
I nodded, noting the way her eyes kept shifting back and forth.
“Whoever you’re trying to mind-link clearly doesn’t want to talk to you.” I chuckled and stepped away.
“Quickly, clear this up before anyone gets hurt, alright?”
I turned, pulling my suitcase towards the stairs, and left it close to the wall before hurriedly climbing the stairs.
My wolf purred within me, pacing with excitement; her infectious joy rippled through me as my heart raced.
I can’t wait to see the pure look of joy on his face.
I yanked the door wide open. “Warren, I’m ho—”
I froze.
“Y-Yes, Alpha!! Oh! F-Fuck me!!”
“Fuc-king pussy! All m-mine! Yes! Do you love my cock?”
“Ughhhh… It’s s-so g-good!”
The words faded in and out. I stood there rooted to the spot, staring as Warren ferociously pounded into…
I blinked. It didn't make sense.
I could see them, and yet my brain couldn’t make sense of it…
I was dreaming… I had to be.
But three pounds later, the scene didn’t change. Warren was fucking my maid…
My stomach churned; bile rose in my chest.
I couldn’t speak; my tongue, heavy against the floor of my mouth, refused to move, and I stood there, forced to watch as my husband cheated on me.
Suddenly, his head turned, and Warren’s blue eyes clouded with lust met mine—
“By the gods!” he screamed, jerking out of her as he hurriedly covered himself.
Nerissa yelped, scrambling for her clothes as she scurried off to the corner like a mouse.
“M-Merilyn… H-how long have you been there?” Warren asked, his eyes frantically searching mine.
“L-Luna—”
“Shut the fuck up!” he yelled, glaring at Nerissa, who hid back in the shadows, whimpering.
Talk!
Yell! Say something! How can you stand there and watch this?!
“M-Merilyn, th-this is not what it looks like. I-I can explain.”
The lump in my throat thickened, and my eyes stung. Ten years…. Ten years together, and this was where it all ended.
Without a word, I stepped back—“No, no, no. Mery, baby, listen to me! I can explain!” Warren yelled as he rushed to get dressed—and slowly shut the door.
I walked down the stairs, picked up my suitcase, and in the corner of my eye, I saw the maid from earlier hiding behind the wall, staring at me.
So she knew. That was why she was so scared when she saw me, why she kept glancing at the stairs… why she continuously tried to mind-link someone.
Just how many people knew about this?
I dumped my bag into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat just as Warren burst out the door, running towards me.
“Merilyn, wait!” he blurted out, standing before the car. “Baby, please get out of the car and let’s talk about this.”
I turned on the ignition, and he became more agitated. “Merilyn, listen to me! I promise it’s not what it looks like! It’s not! Don’t do this, baby. I’m begging—” I shoved the gear into place and slammed down on the accelerator.
“Ah!” His groan of agony pierced the air as he leapt out of the way, sliding over the gravel pathway. “Merilyn!” He screamed after me, but I didn’t stop. I drove like a madman, amping up the speed as I crossed the pack borders into the lonely street.

“More.” I slammed my shot glass on the tabletop, watching the bartender refill it immediately.
“There you go, love.” He beamed, brushing his fingers over my palm. I hissed, pulling it back quickly and downing the entire contents at once.
“More.” He happily poured more, but I didn’t drink it at once; I stared at the glass cup, my eyes heavy but not fully drunk.
“Fuck…you. War—” hiccup “—ren. You should—rot… in Tartarus.”
I chugged it down, slammed it back on the table, and gestured for more.
“That’s enough.” A sultry command came from beside me; the musky scent of sandalwood, peppermint, and something else attacked my senses.
I looked up and up and up. Wow, he’s tall.
“Hey, let the lady drink to her fill—”
“Close her tab; she’s done for the night.” The same smooth command again. I hiccuped and realized who he was. The same man who had been glaring at me all night.
He’d glared so much, I’d scratched my arm until it turned red.
“Hey, who are you to her? She’s clearly—”
“Close. Her. Tab.”
Something shifted in the air, and the bartender went pale. “Y-Yes, sir.”
Ugh! I still can’t see his face.
I tugged at his sleeve, and his head lazily turned to look at me.
I let out a sound that was somewhere along the lines of a gasp, a choke, and a hiccup.
Two pairs of heterochromia eyes stared back at me. One was the color of ginger brown, and the other…it was like staring into the static waves of an ocean.
A strand of his silky dark hair fell over his face, and I itched to stroke it back in.
My gaze fell to his perfectly sculpted nose, freckled cheeks, and then his lips…
He was even more ethereal up close.
I suddenly felt hot . My thighs tightened, pressing down on the pulsating ache in the middle of my legs.
Oh goddess! I’m about to orgasm in front of a stranger.
THIRD PERSON'S POVMerilyn rolled on the floor, writhing in pain. She'd never felt something as nerve-wracking as this. Her stomach clenched, her legs trembled even though she lay on her side, tears streamed down her face, her eyes blurred back and forth and her wolf howled deep inside her.Her beast seemed to be taking a bit of her pain, but even that wasn't enough to relieve the one shooting through every fibre of her being. She couldn't even scream for help and the mindlink couldn't work because she hadn't been accepted into the pack.Merilyn's eyes snapped open at the thought of Caigar standing outside her door. Her guard. She whimpered as loud as she could, tried to use her body to make some noise, but nothing happened.Lycans had super hearing; he should be able to hear her breathing. That could only mean one thing. Caigar wasn't at his usual duty post. Dread filled her and made her stomach drop. She was truly and utterly alone. Another wave of pain shot through her and Merilyn
Turned out, I didn't have any. The most scandalous things here were a set of granny panties. Who on earth went shopping for me? A hundred-year-old grandma?I plopped back on my bed, arms spread out in surrender as I stared into thin air. The door opened and Gwendolyn walked in.“My lady, you called for me?”I jerked up with a “Yes,” and swiveled on my butt to face her. “I need your help. I want to go shopping.”Her brows furrowed for a second before her face shifted to a blank expression. “What kind of shopping? I may have the best place to recommend for—”“Lingerie.” I blurted out, and she stumbled on her feet and almost fell.Gwen cleared her throat and squeaked, “Lingerie?”I nodded, trying to swallow my blush. “Yes, I need some. Good ones.”Gwen stared at me like I'd grown two heads. Every emotion she went through showed on her face like a blank canvas displaying an artist’s colourful creation.“What? Is it abnormal for me to ask for some?”“No.” She shook her head. “No. It's just
MERILYNNo.My heart stopped. Nothing could have prepared me for what he said. And yet I couldn't stop myself from wondering…. Did they regret it?When death looked them in the face and it was the child they'd gone out of their way to protect, did they wish they'd killed him instead? My eyes closed at the thought of something that devastating happening to me. I couldn't even picture it.“How did he take the news?”Beta Valios shrugged. “He didn't even understand it. I'm guessing it had to do with how young he was. He did cry when he realized he'd never see his parents ever again, but the understanding of what had occurred didn't dawn on him until many years later.”“You make it sound like he was a child when it… happened.” I trailed off at the seriousness on his face. I wished I hadn't, but yet, I still did.“How old was he?”“Eight.”My jaw dropped. “That young?! How can he shift so early?!”“Lycans shift when their beasts are ready and mature enough to present themselves. Kairen's b
MERILYN.Her emerald green gaze held mine as she closed the distance between us and folded her arms under her breast, the motion pushing them up in the air.Her lips pursed, moving from left to right as she stared at me. Every movement of her head made her platinum blonde hair shine like the moon itself when it caught the light and the little headpiece on her head glittered—the evidence of her royal status. Now that I thought about it, she looked like royalty. Elegant, graceful, with an aura of authority around her and a gaze that was almost condescending. She leaned in, her gaze condescending “You're still here?”When I didn't respond, she continued. “Despite me being here, you're still clinging to him. You reek of desperation.”“You're mistaken.” I replied. “The desperate one here isn't me.” My gaze slowly raked over her form. Her brows lowered and her eyes darkened. “Are you calling me desperate?”I shrugged, “You're the one who crawled out of whatever hole you came from and rushe
MERILYN“Where are we going?” I asked, staring around as the hallways slowly morphed into a darker colour, a more silent and secluded part of the castle.“You'll see,” he said, his grip tightening around my wrist but not to the point of hurting. We rounded a corner and stopped right in front of a d
MERILYN“Lorelei!” Kairen raged. Shooting to his feet, he moved towards the lady and I quickly stood up, putting myself between them.“Don't do it.” I said. I wasn't going to stand and watch him hit a woman on my behalf. I turned to her, saw the blinding rage in her eyes. She looked out for blood,
MERILYNI moved away immediately. My heart thudding in my chest. What the hell was happening? Why did he look like… like a rogue?“Merilyn?” He whispered. He sounded like he was fine but his eyes, they were anything but fine.He moved suddenly and I squeaked, trying to dodge him. I raced towards th
MERILYNI bent next to the poppies growing in the garden, brushing my fingers against their petals.“My Lady, you look troubled.
