Missing Guard

Thalia’s POVI walked down the hall, unable to contain my happiness as everyone greeted me as if their lives depended on it.Maybe it did. After all, I was about to become not just a luna but the mother of the future king. The mother Luna had even given me a room in the palace. It was a sealed and irrevocable deal, one word from me could end their lives. Everyone knew this. I joined my father who had come to visit me, outside.“Father, you should have come in. I would have loved to show you my chambers.”His jaw tightened. “That’s not so important right now.” He sounded worried and thus unsettled me immediately.“What is going on? Did something happen?” I dropped my voice, looking around to see if we were actually alone.“Don’t worry, I’ve scouted the area. We are alone.”I let out a relieved sigh. “Okay, so why do you look worried?”“When was the last time you spoke with her grace?”“The mother Luna?” “Yes.”I looked away, thinking. “About two days ago. I’ve been going back but s

The Guard’s Confession.

Mother Luna’s POVMy door pushed open slowly, and I didn’t bother to turn. Not even as I heard the footsteps stop beside me.“Your Grace, you sent for me.”Of course I did. She was my ticket out of whatever trouble that had already been created by Rose. Although I had sent Theron to handle the matter, I still couldn’t leave anything to chance. The woman knew too much about me, just like I knew a lot about the brat beside me. “Your grace?” She called again.Without still turning, I threw the first question. “Do you have anything to tell me?”Brief silence. “Forgive me but I’m not sure I understand.”I finally turned to her, my eyes dropping to her belle sharply. She noticed and forced a smile while instinctively throwing her hand over her belly. “Really? You have nothing to discuss with me?”She looked at me. “Not at all, your grace.”“Hmmm.” I flicked a brow, before slowly rising to my feet. “Then follow me.”She blinked. “Where?”I paused. “I didn’t realize I now owe you explanat

The King Must Die.

Mother Luna’s POVShe stared up at me, shocked and still kneeling.“Didn’t you hear me? I said, get up.”“Your grace,” she called, rising to her feet slowly. “What is going on?”I took her hand in mine. “Oh dear, I know you must be scared now but I need you to relax. You’re not in trouble and I do not want anything to happen to the child you carry.”She blinked. “I knew about the guard from the beginning.”“What?”“And I was never against it. Since the king wouldn’t do what he was supposed to and you managed to find a way out, I was even very much proud of you.”“What?” The guard blurted between the food in his mouth. I ignored him.“Thalia, not only have you given me whatever I’ve always wanted, you’ve also proven to me that you’re worth being my successor as the mother Luna. You’re going to fill this seat to perfection.”“Your Grace, forgive me, but I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.”“I’m saying I know what you did and you’re not in trouble. The king is responsible for

His Despair.

Elle’s POV “So tell us, how is it that the mother Luna is a vampire but has been able to leave like a wolf without anyone ever getting suspicious.” I asked Rose. She swallowed and smiled briefly. “Because she managed to hide her vampire traits.” “What do you mean? How is that possible? I mean she was still drinking blood, right?” “Yes. But it wasn’t because she was a vampire. Before she married the king, she went to the priestess who performed a ritual successfully… or so they thought. The ritual was to hide the characteristics of a vampire and make her look like a normal wolf with just one hiccup.” “Which is?” “She could never change and could only always be in her human form. And it was easy for her to do this because as a Luna, she wasn’t expected to always fight anyway. As for hunting, people were also expected to do that for her. Most wolves only turned when they wanted to fight and hunt.” So I had learned. “And how was she able to do this ritual?” Kerman asked. From hi

My Identity.

King Kerman’s POVI couldn’t believe the things I was hearing. The woman was practically saying everything I knew about myself was a lie. The woman I thought was my mother wasn’t and the one I felt would have been nothing more than a stepmother was actually my mother.Mara. I remembered how much that name always managed to twist something in me. But then I didn’t understand why but with her confession, it all makes sense.I looked at Elle, realizing I was holding onto her hand too tightly. I want her to stop, I really did. But letting go seemed impossible. At that moment, she seemed like the only normal thing in my life.“Elle,” I whispered, unable to hold myself back. She shook her head and I could see that she was trying to fight back tears. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for the things I said to you.”An apology? Why would she? How could she know the truth? Even when I grew up believing I destroyed the mediator and her family. I never knew I was just a pawn in the game of a very ambitious w

A Cause For The Elders.

Dreamir’s POV“I still can’t believe Beymir would do that. Why would he try to work with them?” Cicily said.I let out a deep breath. “Why not? He wanted his throne and was ready to do whatever to get it.”“But he already lost the match. He was supposed to give it up.”“Did our father give up when he lost?”She looked at me. “Exactly. He never gave up. He fought so hard that he even left problems for us. Problems that we now need Elle for.”“And the Elle in question is still missing. I hate to admit this but I fear Kerman’s wrath if you find out about this. He’s going to blame us. He’s going to say we did something to her and are only trying to hide it.”I tightened my jaw because she was right. We had searched every corner around us. We even extended the search far away, and yet, nothing had come up. It was as if she disappeared into thin air. My only consolation at that time was that they were not on good terms before she disappeared but deep down, I knew that wasn’t going to last.

Unity.

King Kerman’s POV“How do you feel?” Elle asked me gently but I didn’t even know what response to give her. I wanted to say I was fine but honestly, I wasn’t. How could I? My whole life was a lie. My parents were destroyed by one person who I thought was my own mother.Sensing my energy, she squeezed my hand gently. “I know I said a lot of horrible things to you in the past and I’m…”“No,” I cut her short. “You don’t have to apologise for anything, you didn’t do anything wrong. I mean I also believed I did it. I grew up thinking I did something so horrible even though I had no reason to, so how could you know the truth?”“Are you sure?”“Of course.”She shook her head. “I just can’t believe any of this is real. I remember when you kept talking about that name. Mara.”I looked at her.“I should have believed you when you said there was more to it. You sounded so sure.”“You couldn’t have known. I didn’t know, I just had a feeling that had no label.” I looked away. “I always knew the

The Announcement.

Elle’s POVMarriage? His words were still in my mind as we traveled back to the palace. On one hand, I still had Dreamir and my own people to concede to. I already promised them. But on the other hand, this peace and Kerman settlement with Kerman was all I ever wanted. If I got married to him, it would be as if I was betraying my people. But if I didn’t, I didn’t know what life I would be leaving.“Are you okay?” he asked, breaking into my thoughts.“Yes.” I quickly forced a smile. “I’m Just thinking about all of this.”He let out a deep breath. “I know, it’s all overwhelming.”The way he was taking everything so calmly, I didn’t know what to think of it. It was as if he was bottling up his feelings because there was no way someone would hear such truth about their lives and be that calm. I put my hand over his. “I think that question should be for you.”“What?” he whispered.“If you ever want to say anything, remember I’m here.”He smiled. But I knew he forced it. “I’m fine.”Yeah,

Luna Intended.

Thalia’s POVI thought I didn’t hear right and had to ask the king again. “Your majesty, what do you mean?He looked at me like I was the last person he expected to speak. But I had no plans of keeping quiet. I was expecting his child… at least in the mind of everyone. And instead of publicly announcing me as his Luna intended, he reserved that for a worthless piece of nothing. My fists tightened beside me as I stared at her. “Your majesty.”“Thalia, I don’t suppose I owe you any explanation,” he fired back sharply.“I think you do. I’m expecting your child, my king. Even if you intend to carry two Lunas, I should come first.”He smirked. “What? Who said anything about carrying two Lunas?”I squinted. “What does that mean?”He looked at her and before I could make sense of it, she smiled and faced me. “You heard the king, my lady. He doesn’t intend to carry two which means that title will belong to me alone.”My mouth dropped. He just gave her the permission to humiliate me in front

A Dire Choice

“Why didn’t you tell me about her pregnancy?” Thalia asked as we walked into my chambers but I was too deep in thoughts to even pay any attention to her.My mind was on the insults the king fed me with back in his chambers. In all my life in the palace, I have never been insulted like that. Not even by the late. He would definitely have to pay.“Your Grace?”“What is it?” I snapped. She tightened her jaw. “Why didn’t you tell me about it?”“And what would you have done?”Her mouth dropped, clearly surprised by my harsh response. “Perhaps if you had told me earlier, I would have found a way to get rid of it. That way he would have no other choice than to fall back on mine.”I scoffed. “Oh please, the girl was under your nose all these while and you could do nothing to her. What exactly would knowing about her pregnancy have changed?”“Everything, your Grace. With your support, I would have been able to do more. Desperation would have pushed me. I became relaxed because she was far awa
