Elsie's POV The rumble of the engine grew fainter and fainter in the distance until it died out.I turned and walked back in the direction of the main camp grounds, heading toward the entrance gate. As I neared the boundary, I met my father walking in the opposite direction. He was wiping his hands, his knuckles raw and heavily bloodied, but he had a proud, thoroughly satisfied look on his face.
