Natasha woke before Aaron the next morning, and for several minutes, she remained still beside him. Aaron slept on his back with one arm resting loosely around her waist. His face looked calmer in sleep, without the constant weight of New Haven, Eden and Aerion sitting behind his eyes. Natasha watched him quietly. Only a few days earlier, this same man sat with her over breakfast and talked about marriage, children and growing old together. Now Adrian Moss had turned that love into something he could use against her. And she hated him for it. She carefully lifted Aaron’s arm and slipped out of bed. He stirred slightly but did not wake up. Natasha went into the bathroom, showered and dressed before leaving the bedroom. She had made a decision during the night.
