Chapter 141. We are Making Progress

Josh Morgan Sterling POVI have been too cocky.I thought I was prepared. The next day at the breakfast table, Olivia was already dressed for work while the triplets were still in their pajamas.Zoe’s head was laid on the table. Her eyes were closed.Leo and Ivy, on the other hand, were helping their Mother prepare the table.I just got in from my early run and was on my way to the kitchen, but I halted when I passed by the dining area and found them there. My family. The beautiful sight made me pause. Then, Olivia turned and was surprised to see me.I was surprised, too. She looked breathtaking. A breath of fresh air.I looked at her wearing beige square pants, a black turtleneck blouse, a camel coat, and high heels.“You look lovely.”It pleased me to note that her cheeks reddened instantly. Emboldened, I snaked my arm around her waist and dropped a quick kiss to her lips, which earned giggles from our girls.“Daddy kissed Mommy!” Zoe and Ivy chanted.“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” They clappe

Chapter 142. Making Mommy Blush

Josh Morgan Sterling POVWe settled for breakfast not long after. As usual, these past few days, the table was lively and messy. There was a sense of comfort in hearing the children’s chatter alongside the sounds of cutlery as they scraped the plates.“Bacon! I want bacon!” Zoe said enthusiastically. The aroma of the smoked pork seemed to wake her up. Her siblings immediately reached out to fork bacon slices off the platter and place them on her plate. She beamed her thanks before she grabbed her fork and knife, cut a piece of bacon, and speared it before placing it daintily in her mouth.“Good?” Olivia asked. She grinned and gave her mother a thumbs up.I smiled, too, and wiped the grease off the side of her mouth with the pad of my thumb.Zoe smiled her thanks to me, and then she forked a bacon slice and stood from her seat.“Careful.” I cautioned, guessing her intent. She was rewarding me.When she had successfully placed the bacon on my plate, she beamed at me, waiting for my thank

Chapter 143. Can't Let My Little Girls Down

Josh Morgan Sterling POVWhen Olivia left, the children made a mini-race back to their room.“Catch us, Daddy!” Zoe cried, turning her head back toward me.I almost had a heart attack when she stumbled, but her two siblings were quick to help. They held on to her until she regained her footing, and when they reached the second floor, they all ran away, leaving me clutching at my chest.Until now, I could still feel how my heart thumped so fast.Zoe scared me, but the thought that Olivia would blame me when something bad happens to our daughter was scarier.I heard the sound of the door banging, and decided I needed to follow them or else the house would be knocked down

Chapter 144. In Good Spirits

Josh Morgan Sterling POVWhile doing the girls’ ponytails, Leo emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a fluffy white towel. The girls saw him, and they laughed when he made a face at them.He was clowning.Maybe he heard their disappointment when he was inside the bathroom, and this is his way of making his siblings feel a little better.“You look funny, Leo,” Ivy told him.His wet hair clung to his forehead, partly obscuring the view of his face. The skin showed droplets of water from his bath.“Daddy is funnier.” Leo shot back.I can’t comment because the

Chapter 145. My Wife

Josh Morgan Sterling POVThe car stopped outside the massive blue building that houses Sterling Enterprises.“This is your office, Daddy,” Zoe exclaimed when she recognized the place. At first, I was not sure if the triplets remembered. Part of me wanted to erase the memories from their first visit, which is one of the reasons I brought them here.“Would you like to come in?” I asked. My gaze encompassed the three of them. I did not encounter any major setbacks.Leo shrugged his shoulders.Same with Ivy.Only Zoe had a comment.“The w*tch? Was she still here?” I belatedly realized whom she was referring to and almost guffawed in response.Zoe’s antics never failed to make me laugh.I bit my tongue, but my eyes carried the mischief that was reflected in those three pairs of eyes. I was glad that they did not abhor this place because I intend to bring the three of them here in the future, especially Leo, to familiarize him with it, knowing one day, the operations of the business will be

Chapter 146. In Good Hands

Josh Morgan Sterling POVWhen we reached my floor at the executive office, everyone was surprised to see three little children hanging on me.To them, it was short of a spectacle as they gawked at us.And then, a figure extracted herself from the maze of cubicles to walk toward us.The triplets recognized her instantly.“Aunt Lucy!” The triplets cried out happily, their tiny legs pumped up while they ran toward her.Lucy smiled as she sauntered over to us.“Hello, Leo, Ivy and Zoe. What brings you here?”This time, Leo jumped from his perch. When Ivy moved to follow her brother, I clamped my hand to restrain her.She looked at me. “I wanted to go down, Daddy.” A smile weave its way to her cute face, making her eyes look like crescent moons. When she or Zoe were like this, I couldn’t say no.I bent and squatted on the floor, allowing Ivy to land her feet on the ground. Zoe did the same, but her legs were wobbly, and she did not have enough footing, so she landed on her butt.Ivy and Le

Chapter 147. Mrs. Sterling

Olivia Barnett POVI was so flustered. Gingerly, I stroked my lips. Even now, I could still feel the heat of Josh’s lips on my lips, causing my cheeks to warm up.“Mrs. Sterling?”I looked up at the driver with a start. He was standing beside the open door of Josh's Rolls-Royce, waiting for me to enter. It was only then that it hit me! He referred to me as Mrs. Sterling. It seemed surreal. I never regarded myself as Mrs. Sterling and would have wanted to correct him, but that would mean I had to explain my messy and complicated relationship with his boss.Deciding to forego the issue, I slid inside the car. The driver closed the door, got in, and started the engine almost immediately.I looked at the time and realized we were running a bit late. I wanted to blame the children and their father, but I can’t.The children needed the normalcy of seeing their father and me together. But they didn’t need to see the kiss, said the voice at the back of my head.I shook it off as heat pooled a

Chapter 148. Only Woman in my Life

Josh Morgan Sterling POV“Daddy, are you going to call Mommy?” Zoe asked when she saw me taking out my phone.I smiled at her, pinching her cute little chipmunk face.“Yes, sweetie.”I placed my index finger to my lips when the call got through, and I heard Olivia’s familiar voice on the line, silently requesting the three of them to be quiet while I talked to their mother.Today, we are going to set in motion my plans, and I was making sure that she would be right there.“Hello.” The perky voice told me that she had been successful in her job interview. I congratulated her. The kids also congratulated her.I reminded her about the lunch and told her the car had been waiting for her. When I ended the call, Ivy asked if today’s the day. I nodded in confirmation. The children cheered while the car coasted along the highway.Less than twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of a grand hotel.“Wow!” Leo looked fascinated by the sprawling greens made by soft, undulating mound

Chapter 149. To Family and Happy Beginnings

Olivia Barnett POVI went to meet my family, thinking that we were going to have a private celebration. Limited to the five of us. Lucas, I expected to be there after the celebratory lunch, bearing the forms needed to register the triplets as Sterling.I did not expect that Josh would spring up an elaborate surprise. That there was going to be a party attended by our friends, and some people from the press. The moment I walked in, there were congratulations.I pressed a hand to my chest, clearly overwhelmed. There was nothing simple about the whole thing. And for Josh to manage to call on everyone that matters?I smiled when I heard the children’s giggles, and then Josh came forward, grabbed me and tipped my chin for a kiss. Heaven!I heard a whirring sound. When I looked up, I counted at least three drones flying, but I was mostly aware of the erratic beating of my heart. When Josh pulled back, I realized there was a large LED screen in the middle, and it was replaying our kiss! And

Chapter 150. The Prodigal Wife is Back

Olivia Barnett POVThe drones continued to move, capturing priceless moments that are readily displayed on the screen.I looked at Josh.He had a smile on his face.A feeling of contentment settled inside me.A few weeks ago, I did not think that we would come to this.I went back here ready to sign my marriage away. I was ready for goodbye. I did not expect that the goodbye I was expecting would instantly turn into welcome back and restarting over.Until now, there are still blurry lines in our relationship, but I decided when I gave Josh a chance that I would take each day as it comes.“My wife came here, ready to divorce me.” Josh shared some tidbits about our relationship, and parts of it made my face flush.“What she didn’t know was that I spent the last five years waiting for her return, planning on making her mine again.”There was a collective gasp. And a loud whistle.“I admit I am still on probation. But I am working my a*s right now, to change our status into something more
