Lahat ng Kabanata ng Marrying The Wrong Brother: Kabanata 41 - Kabanata 50

"Couldn't sleep too?" He asked.I felt his eyes roam over me very briefly. But despite the fleeting nature of that stare, my body reacted a little more than I wanted it to. "Yeah. Your bed feels strange." I told him. Zane chuckled."I can imagine."I walked over to him, handing over a cup of hot chocolate. It was cold outside and caffeine was out of the question to warm up."Thanks." He said, before taking a sip. "Tastes really good.""You sound surprised." "Considering the fact that you barely know your way around the kitchen...""Zane it's just hot chocolate." I rolled my eyes. He laughed and went quiet a for a while, obviously lost in his own thoughts. "What are you up thinking about?" I asked him."A lot of things. What about you?" "Same here." I muttered in agreement. "I honestly feel like going away for a while." "I thought you wanted to stay so Sophie wouldn't suspect anything.""Yeah you're right. I'll stay." We stayed in comfortable silence, occupied by our thoughts.

I paused at the doorway, looking around to be sure no one, especially Sophie, heard her. Sloane hardly ever raised her voice at me or anyone for that matter."Calm down."Her calm composure returned just then. She got on her feet as I stepped further into the room. Her glare was fierce as she looked up at me."You were supposed to be home hours ago! I tried calling, texting and there was no response."She wasn't done speaking so I let her talk."Not only did you make me look like a fool in front of my sister, you also had me worried for your safety." Her last statement caught my attention."You were worried about me?""That doesn't answer my question, Zane.""I'm well aware but I'm stuck on that."She scoffed, turning to walk away. "It's pointless talking to you."I held her hand and pulled her back to me."What are you doing?" I didn't breathe a word, I just hugged her tight until the stiffness in her posture dissolved into something softer. Yes I couldn't tell her where I was. A

It was the weekend and I was forced to stay home on Maya's directive. I wanted to be at the office, proving those men who had downplayed my efforts wrong over and over again until they couldn't deny it anymore that I was worth the CEO position.Maya insisted that I use my weekends for something other than work. I knew she was saying that for her own benefit. Her perfect excuse was my step sister who I needed to sell it to that I was less of a workaholic because I was now a newly wed wife who was in love with her husband. Ugh!I was chilling outside with Sophie, glancing through a business magazine in between our random conversations. In between all of this, I was trying to get over the events of the previous night. I didn't want to ever lose my composure like that ever again. It was very unlike me.Zane and I were yet to have a proper conversation since then.So imagine my shock when he came to the poolside with a bouquet of flowers .Sophie had her phone up and recording before I

Third Person POV:Sophie's feet tapped the floor in a nervous rhythm.Even the staff cast her worried glances. This was supposed to be her home but she felt like a stranger as she waited for her dreadful mother to make her way downstairs to where she was seated. It had only been fifteen minutes but it felt like forever. Fifteen long minutes of hearing nothing but the large wall clock in the living room tick meticulously.Even her phone seemed to lack interest which was very unlike her. Moments later, she heard the footsteps she had been waiting for."Sophia," "Hi mom."Veronica's smile never reached her eyes. At least not since when Sloane became her obvious rival."I've missed you." She said, spreading her arms.Sophie hesitated before going into them."Me too mom."An obvious lie. But they weren't going to dwell on it."Do you have news for me?"The nerves she had tried to suppress came rushing back. Sophie shook her head slowly, unable to meet her mother's eyes."Words, Sophia.

I felt my confidence falter when I walked into that conference room.Something was off. I wondered if Zane could feel it too."Good morning everyone," I said to their hearing over their loud conversations.Zane muttered his salute as well as he pulled out my chair for me and let me sit.Veronica was seated there in a bright red outfit that made her the center of attention. She obviously thought it was her day to shine. They responded neutrally. Or at least almost all of them did."Good morning Mr and Mrs Della-Ross." Gregory had a sort of mocking grin that made me feel very uneasy.Zane and I exchanged glances. He could feel it too. Maybe I had celebrated my victory way too soon. The secretary read out the minutes from the previous meeting of this sort. We listened with rapt attention like we didn't already know what it entailed. Then finally, the meeting properly begin. It seemed like they were dragging over the point with several gibberish and were about to say something false
