Chapter eleven

Travis "Trav. Trav!" I snapped back to the present, blinking in confusion. "What?" Neal shot me a strange look. "You totally zoned out man. What the hell? Are you okay?" "Yeah. Sure." I raked my fingers through my hair. "I guess I'm just a bit exhausted, that's all." "We can meet some other time." He suggested. "No. No." I shook my head emphatically. "I've missed hanging with you. And anyway, I'm hungry. I'm looking forward to stuffing my face with something that isn't made for by a Michelin star chef." He scoffed. "The rich kid curse, I fear." I rolled my eyes at him with a chuckle. "Get outta here." The truth was that I had missed Neal. Since the whole scandal last month, plus the arrival of Hunter and his mother, I hadn't yet had a chance to see him. We had texted a few times, but it wasn't the same.I should have been excited about this surprise meet up tonight, but all I could about was Hunter. After our game tonight, I had found myself searching for him during the team

Chapter twelve

Travis Everybody liked home games, and I guess I was the exception. There was something special about beating a team on their home turf. It made winning that much better. Sure, we didn't get the thunderous cheers and generally, we had to stay sharp after the game because of angry fans that could get brave enough to attempt to fuck with us, but the booing was nothing compared to the high. I was already pumped as I got on the team bus, even though it had been a long day and I hadn't gotten much sleep last night. "Finally decided to show up cap." Sammy called out as soon as he spotted me, prompting the others to call out their own greetings. I shook the hands they offered as I made my way to my usual seat. And froze. Irritation worked it's way through me as I spotted the blond in my seat. A rational voice reminded me that he couldn't have known this was Neal and I's space, but it seemed pretty convenient that out of the three empty rows, he had chosen that particular one. Hunter ra

Chapter thirteen

Hunter I stared down at the tent in my sleeping pants, irritation working it's way through me while I tried to convince myself that it was normal. Just a regular response to the fact that I was in a soft, comfortable bed and about to play my first away game in the major leagues with a chance at winning. The Red Rogers had been a great team in the sense that the guys were laid back and they were all about enjoying your time on the ice.But I had never fit in there. I had known it and so had they. Sure, having fun was great and all, but I craved the burn and sweat of going to war on the ice and coming out triumphant. I wanted to win. I wanted championships, cups, a stadium full of fans cheering my name. I wanted to step off that ice feeling like I had given it my all, like I had bled for the game. Anyway, I was finally here. I should have been excited about the game, I should have been resting, catching some much needed shut eye. But instead, I was staring up at the ceiling and gla

Hunter The final scoreboard flashed amidst a thunderous booing from the fans of the home team. 4-0 I grinned, turning around to blow a kiss at them. The sight of furious faces made me want to cackle with glee. After all, the home team had had a lot of bullshit to say on the internet before the game. All that talk had quickly dried up after the first two goals from us. "Get off our ice, trailer trash." One of the guys from the rival team spat at me. If he thought doing some shallow dig into my past and throwing those words at my face would make me cry, he had better think again. "You should try living out there." I grinned at him. "Might help with that wonky left hand grip." He growled, and I braced myself for his next move. He must have realized that a physical attack would be a stupid move, because eventually he huffed. "Whatever." "We should definitely celebrate tonight." Sammy announced. "I know a bar that won't have sulky fans. Let's go let loose a little, celebrate tonig

Travis I couldn't for the life of me remember the blonde's name even though she had mentioned it twice. I thought about asking a third time but decided that it wasn't worth it. I didn't need to know her name to enjoy what was about to happen here. "I watched your game tonight." She purred, pushing me down on the bed and slinking out of her black dress, revealing a barely there, pale pink lace thong. I waited for my body to stir at the sight of the almost naked woman before me, but... nothing. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion and I stared down at my crotch, feeling a little bit betrayed. What the hell man? Do your damn job. The woman's gaze moved down my body, tongue swiping over her lips in a practiced move that I was sure had made several men trip over themselves, but was completely wasted on me tonight. My usual type was runway model trim, and she fit that description to a T. Was it the alcohol? Or maybe I was just tired.I started to climb to my feet, ready to apologize for w

Chapter sixteen

Hunter The only reason I heard the knock on the door was because all my senses had been laser focused on that door for the past two hours or so. So by the time the knock sounded, I was already leaping out of the bed and lunging for it. My senses came back right on time and I paused, waiting for the second knock to sound. I didn't want to look like the loser who had been waiting around for him. "Finally back from your_" I froze as I took in the person standing there. Instead of a tall, muscled figure with dark hair, a dainty blonde wearing freaking pearls stood there, clutching her Chanel bag like someone was intent on snatching it. Zahara blinked at me. "Hello." "What are you doing here?" This was like something from one of my worst nightmares. Instead of replying, she pushed past me uninvited. "I'm here for Travis. Where is he?" "I'm not my brother's keeper." I quipped. She shot me a loathing look. "You're teammates and step brothers now. You should know where he is." I ra

Travis I braced for the punch. The guy's fist came at me fast, his face twisted with rage, and I tightened every muscle in my body, preparing for the impact. But it never came. Instead, there was a grunt, followed by a loud thud. My eyes flew open in time to see the guy sailing through the air and crashing against the dumpster, and suddenly standing before me was none other than Hunter, breathing hard, chest rising and falling and his blue eyes blazing in the dim streetlight. "What the-" The other two guys released me immediately and went after him. My eyes went wide, and I tried to get up and help, but I only ended up stumbling and falling down on my ass. I grabbed my stomach, grimacing. I hoped those fuckers hadn't broken a rib. "Hunter, run." I snarled just as the two guys charged. He grabbed one of them and shoved him sideways with enough force to send him crashing into a parked motorcycle. My jaw dropped open as he hit the second guy with two quick upper cuts, then slamm

Hunter "Yo Bailey, you down?" My head snapped up and I found several sets of eyes watching me. I blinked, confused. "Sorry, what's going on?" "We're doing a charity fundraiser event for kids with disabilities." One of the guys informed me. "We've been doing it every year for the past three years, but this year it's going to be way bigger. We're having press coverage and the goal is to get the word out there, get as much donations as possible." "Yeah, sure." I agreed with a shrug. "Sounds great." "Really?" He looked excited. "So far, I've only been able to get Sammy, cap and the goalie in on it. The others would much rather just send in their donations." "Quit making us look like assholes." Another teammate whined. "By the middle of the season, we're all just beat and want to get some rest. It's the donations that matter anyway." "No way." The first guy argued. "Sure, the donations matter but these kids see us as their heroes. They get really excited to see us."

Chapter nineteen

Travis I'd barely crossed the front door when Mrs. Johnson announced that my father expected me to be at one of his business launch event in a few hours. "I'm beat." I told her, trying not to snap at her. "Do I really have to be there?" I hated going for those stuffy things. Years of wearing tailored suits and ties hadn't reduced my hatred for the things. These events always went exactly the same way. First, Dad would show me off to his friends and partners, talk about my stats and the last goal I scored. Of course, all the hockey information was fed to him by his bevy of assistants a few minutes before the event began. Michael Moore didn't give two shits about hockey unless it was to brag to his wealthy friends. "He made it clear that it was an order, not a request." She winced. "Would you like me to microwave something for you before you head out?" I scrubbed a hand over my face. "Nah, I'm good." I regretted that decision two hours later as I adjusted my collar for t

Travis For a second, I didn't move at all. I stood frozen as Hunter's hot mouth moved over mine. Something fluid slid throughout my body, and my knees suddenly felt like jelly. My eyes fluttered shut and when his tongue dragged against the seams of my mouth, I found myself opening for him. A moan rumbled in my throat as his tongue slid against mine, his hand on my suit tightening, pulling me in even tighter. The world fell away around me, all my senses attuned to just his mouth moving against mine. It felt so good. Like I'd never actually been kissed before until this moment. Like my world was being rearranged, brick by brick. Blood rushed downwards, gathering at the base of my stomach, and I felt my dick swelling in my pants. I moaned again, wanting to be closer, wanting his hands on me, wanting- The sound of my ring tone snapped me back to my senses. My eyes flew open and everything came rushing back. I was at the rooftop of a party, my father, step mother and the woma
