A crack in the ice

Morgana’s POVMy claws are gone by the time it’s rehearsal. Same with the wounds on my palm.I spend a good thirty minutes staring at my open palm, at the smooth skin with crusted blood, and the only thought on my mind is: this is not supposed to happen.I’m an omega. Worst still, I don't have a wolf, the thing that makes our kind heal faster. If this happened to Ryker, or even Delilah, who is a beta, it would be perfectly normal. I have half the mind to slice my palm open and see if the cut is going to close up fast, but something tells me it wouldn’t.So many questions fill my mind. And for some reason, my thoughts circle back to Selene. I fish around my purse from yesterday till I find my phone, then scroll through the contacts lists till I arrive at her name. My thumb hovers over the screen, and I bite down on my lip, contemplating whether to just bite the bullet and call her.But then tell her what? That I had claws? That I cut myself and it healed up quickly?I scoff, toss my

A witchy reminder

Alpha Dante.Ryker is toeing a very fine line. Day by day it becomes increasingly difficult to ignore his actions toward Morgana.Just today, i wanted to rip him bit by bit till nothing was left. How dare he stake a claim on my mate in front of me?A voice of reason tries to say that Ryker isn’t aware of Morgana being my mate. But my wolf doesn't care for reason right now, neither do I. The image of him kissing her fills me with indescribable rage.I couldn't sit there and watch. Else Melissa’s wedding would have turned to a bloodbath.I heard her. I heard Morgana cry for my help. I felt every ounce of pain through the matebond. It burned like fire and hot coals. And when she looked at me, with those big, innocent eyes of hers begging me for help, I couldn't sit still. Getting Ryker to leave was easy, put his little fuck toy in danger and he’d abandon everything and run to her.The problem was calming my wolf after he was gone. Goddess knew I was going to chase him down and remove hi

I didn't know

Morgana’s POV“Morgana,” Alpha Dante’s eyes are entirely black. Furious. “Here to finish the job?”Cold washes over me, turning my veins to ice and my guts to slurry. I can’t breathe. I can’t feel, not even the harsh way his fingers dig into my shoulders. I can’t think. My brain scrambles for anything. Anything at all. Say something, Morgana. Say something! Laugh it off. Deflect. Say you don't know what he’s talking about when you damn right know what he’s talking about.A short, high-pitched laugh bursts out of me. “What do you mean?” I ask, instantly regretting the moment those words come out of my mouth. I sound so fake, like an old scratchy record.Alpha Dante’s eyes narrow. The heat bleeding off him gets hotter, suffocating me. His eyes are feral, a pit of eternal darkness. And when he growls at me I spot his fangs showing.“Don’t play fucking dumb with me,” he speaks through clenched teeth, his eyes accusatory.I swallow the lump. It tastes bitter and is so thick I have to swal

More and more.

Morgana’s POVI stumble the entire way back to the suite. My head is stuck in a permanent disarray. I can’t think straight or even see straight. I keep replaying that conversation with alpha Dante over and over again. He knows. He’s know. And now he hates me.Everything makes sense. Why he hates me so much. Why he keeps looking at me like I did something horrible to him.Outside the door to the suite, I stare down at my hands. With these hands, I ended his life. I gave him that poisoned whiskey. I watched him drink it. I watched the life and light fade from his eyes. What possessed me?What sort of sorcery did Ryker use on me? was the prospect of him fucking me enough to make me commit actual murder.I shudder, hugging myself and trying to shake off the images.Back then I didn’t give it this much thought.I turn, glancing in the direction of Alpha Dante’s suite. He’s right to hate me. he’s right to never speak to me again or even see me again. If he reports me to the council, or even

A glimpse into another world.

Third person POVIn another hotel. Inside a secluded, private suite. Selene Harley, dressed in a dark purple silken robe, stares out of the open window overlooking the Split. She takes dainty sips out of a wine glass containing a liquid too thick and glossy to be wine. Her eyes are focused in the distance, such that one might think she sees someone in the blitzing light. Her demeanor is relaxed and peaceful. Long red nails tap rhythmically against the wine glass. The liquid inside doesn’t move. “Darling?” A deep masculine voice calls from the door. Selene turns, her full lips curving into a smile. “You’re late,” she says, tilting her head to the side. Her straight hair sweeps over her shoulder, the motion slow and seductive. The man walks in, a cocky smirk on his face. He comes up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he peppers soft kisses over her clothed shoulder. “You should be resting against tomorrow,” he murmurs, his grip tightening. Selene turns back to the

Wedding bells

Morgana’s POV:Today is the day. I can’t believe it’s been two days since I came to Las Vegas. It feels like two years. The festivities are a blur. First, I wake to the sound of commotion outside the door. Turns out Ryker was already up and getting ready. When I asked why he didn’t wake me, he mumbled something I couldn’t understand. Fine. That wasn’t a problem. I’m one of Melissa’s bridesmaids. The fact that I almost overslept on her special day is a slap to the face. I hastily get ready and head to her preparation room. Surprisingly, things are more calm inside. Her friends are composed as they help the stylists get Melissa ready. After a furious apology for my tardiness, I join them, my stomach fluttering with nerves as if I’m the one getting married. Three hours later, Melissa walks down the aisle, Alpha Dante leading her. It’s a lovely day, the sun is out, the air is loaded with the scent of flower arrangements, and birds twitter all around the garden. I swear these weren

pup talk

Dante’s POVIf Morgana keeps looking at me that way, I’ll do something I’m bound to regret. My sister is getting married. She should be my entire focus. I should be playing the part of the overbearing older brother down to a tee. Instead I can’t stop looking at Morgana. Fuck me. Is it the dress that hugs her body, tempting me to rip it off and take her in front of everyone?Or maybe it’s her eyes. Fuck me. They way she’s looking at me I can fucking guess what she’s thinking. Or it’s the way her scent reaches me from a distance, soft and floral and slightly different than I remember. It’s a mix of everything. And exactly why I should keep away from her. My wolf hasn’t stopped judging me for the previous night. For making her cry and sending her away in anger. What a bastard. I’ve given up explaining this to him over and over. She doesn’t know she’s my mate. As far as she’s concerned, I’m her father in law. Yet my mind wanders. Melissa is the one at the altar. Yet I think of M

A challenger

Morgana’s POVI couldn’t focus for the rest of the wedding. In my defense, I tried. I told alpha Dante I wanted to end things. End things? That makes it sound like there was something between us to begin with. “Another glass?” The bartender asks with wide eyes. “Miss, I assume this isn’t my place, but perhaps switch to water?”I force on a small smile and nudge my empty glass forward. The ice clinks together. I pluck out one and pop it into my mouth. “Don’t worry about me. I have high alcohol tolerance.”He doesn’t look convinced. He’s looking at me, his expression caught between worry and professional ignorance. He chooses the latter, refills my glass and adds another ice cube. The ice in my mouth burns. I chew into it, ignoring how my teeth explodes in pain. The whiskey is gone in three gulps. “Hey, do you have a minute?” I push the glass forward again. “I’m kinda losing my mind here.”He gives me a skeptical look before looking around the bar. I’m at the hotel bar and it’s no

Foolish boy

Ryker’s POV:“Father, have you seen Morgana? She’s been gone all night and her phone isn’t going through.”Something is going on right now.And I'm sure it has everything to do with my father.“I don’t know,” he replies, without even sparing me a glance. “Why don’t you look for her?”“I’m trying,” I sigh. Seriously, what is wrong with Morgana? After the wedding she just vanished. I’d gone to painstaking lengths getting a reservation for us, a little treat to show her that i can still be the good husband she remembers, and this is how she repays me?I’ve always known her to be an ungrateful wretch but this is over the top.“Dad,”He sighs and turns to me. “What do you want, Ryker?”I open my mouth to reply, then it hits me.Something is seriously wrong. He’s dressed in all black, the attire I usually see him in when he has a bike race. Which is crazy, because shouldn’t he have given that up already? Isn't he too old for that?I don’t dare voice my thoughts. Partly because he doesn’t l

Deviation from the Norm

Morgana’s POVI died, and this is hell. This looks like a scene out of a horror flick. I’m sure if I look closely, I’ll find the carefully hidden camera crew.At this point, I’ve gotten used to the rough texture of the ropes digging into my skin. Not to say it doesn’t hurt; I don’t notice it anymore. Because whatever is happening in front of me takes the fucking cake.Alpha Dante came. After everything, all the rationalization I gave myself, all the reasons as to why he wouldn’t bother with me, every second of personal lies, here he is with his men. All of them looking pissed and ready for battle.Ryker’s screams grate on my nerves. Even now, with the situation at hand, he’s still seeking attention.“Are you all deaf?!” he yells from the tree. “I said untie me!”One of Karl’s men turns and hits him across the head.Ryker goes quiet.Oh, thank the Goddess.Wait. Did I thank the Goddess because my husband got knocked out?Well. I’ve done worse.Karl throws his head back and laughs. The
