EILAN The latch clicked shut as Mrs. Donnelly left, but before I could even let out the breath I’d been holding, the door swung open again. Like what in the name of the heavens was going on with these early appointments.. It was Marcus, my eleven-thirty walk-in. "Dr. Moore? Sorry to barge in, but the receptionist said you had a quick opening before lunch." "Mar.. Marcus," I choked out, my voice tighter than I intended. ELIAN Aiden emerged from beneath my desk wearing the most infuriating smile I had ever seen in my life. It was not a victorious smile. It was worse. It was the smile of a man who knew exactly what kind of effect he had on someone and intended to enjoy every second of it. I immediately rose from my chair, nearly sending it rolling backward across the office floor. My pulse was still racing and I hated that he probably knew it.
