Chapter 41- The ImposterMALRIK POVI clearly may have overestimated my plan and didn’t think through before I decided to go ahead with it. In my defense, knocking my brother unconscious and chaining him in the dungeon had felt like an excellent idea. He wouldn’t run after me, telling me this and that. Oh, don't, it will kill our mate, Malrik. Oh, let’s wait for Ysara to come back, Malrik. Oh, you can’t control your beast, Malrik. Blah fucking blah. While he was right half of the time, I didn’t need to hear his voice preaching about control and shit. So I chained him with the same chains that I always wore on the night of the full moon. Brilliant. Right? But, right now? Not so much. Because seeing Aurelia made all thoughts go poof, and now I stood against Azrael’s car with a dry mouth and a slight tremor in my bones. I was a nervous wreck, especially when she looked at me like I had hung the moon myself.Against my better judgment, I unglued myself from the car and walked to wher

Chapter 43- The Painful TruthAURELIA POVSomething wasn’t right. I had been staring at Azrael’s neck for the last five minutes. Not subtly. Not discreetly. Blatantly and suspiciously. Like a detective trying to solve a murder. And the conclusion my mind was drawing was fucking harrowing. There was absolutely nothing on that skin. Not a mark. Not a bruise. Not even a faint discoloration. Just smooth, tan skin. My stomach knotted. I knew what I had done last night. I remembered it perfectly. Azrael kissed me with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Cancel that, he didn’t kiss me. He devoured my lips like he was sucking the very essence of my soul right from my mouth. And I melted, my knees turning into jello from the ruthlessly delicious assault. And then, I kissed his neck. I left a stupid little hickey on his neck. When he left, it had been there, bright red and very much alive. So why the hell wasn’t it there now?A chill crawled down my spine from the possible answer. But

Chapter 45- The Second Chance I Never HadAURELIA POVMy head felt like it had been split in two. I had no idea whether what I saw whenever I closed my eyes was nightmares conjured by everything that happened in the past few hours or the revelation that my life was in fact, not my own. My veins hummed with the painful flow of blood, the sides of my head pulsating with every inhale of breath. A small groan slipped past my lips before I turned to my front and buried my head into my pillows, then closed my eyes, only to send my mind on a whole other crusade. Red eyes. Golden eyes… Ysara… every fucking thing. I reached fo

Chapter 47- Bile and RegretMALRIK POV Everything sucked. Every fucking thing. I didn’t need to be told, but we were going to lose her. This whole entire clusterfuck seemed to be a good idea at the beginning. But now? Not so much. Not when the very foundation of our story was built on lies and deceit. Where the fuck did we all go wrong? We were doing everything right. We followed the fucking script from the get-go. We did everything by the bloody book. Now when the hell did we fuck all this up? Was it when we started inching closer towards her? What were we supposed to do because we couldn’t stay away? She was peace and redemption wrapped in fine, smooth skin and sweet laughter. She was our mate. And we were drawn to our mate like moths to the flame. There was no denying the pull she had on us. Was it worth it?“Goddamnit.” My fist collided with a punching bag so hard it came off its hold before landing in front of me with a loud thud. I looked at the sorry thing only to realize

Chapter 49- The Calm Before The StormAURELIA POV The sound of a light tap by the front door yanked me from my sleep. I hopped off my bed, careful not to trip and face-plant as I pulled on a nightgown and wrapped it tightly around my body. I was not even slightly alerted when I raced down the stairs heading towards the front door in the dead of the night. I knew it could only be one of the two people who rocked my world, or both. I never really had visitors because I had zero social life. And my cabin was tucked safely away from the city. Even the guards that were assigned to me were never visible to the eye. I just knew they were there, but never really saw them.I yanked the front door open and gave a small smile as I stared at the ball of muscles and restrained chaos, clad in black jeans and a black shirt. His wet hair danced lazily, brushing his broad shoulders, his fresh after-shave wafted in the air around us, à signal he had just jumped out of the shower. He looked so deadly
