Chapter 21- Marked By DarknessAURELIA POVTime didn’t move. It stretched. Folded into itself.Days bled into each other until I stopped counting them. Training kept me busy. Occupied. And I threw myself into it. All I knew was that I was getting stronger than I had been when I first came here. Not whole. Never that. But I was better. “You are spacing,” Ysara called out from the end of the clearing. I smiled, shaking my head and bringing myself to the present. I lunged forward, fist slicing through the air. Faster this time. More precise. More controlled. I pivoted, ducked. Still too damn slow. But better. A gust of wind clipped my shoulder, sending me stumbling backward. I didn’t fall. Not this time. And Ysara saw it too. A smile formed on her face.“Better.” She praised. It was small. Not a criticism. And it fucking meant so much. I threw myself into it afterwards. I kicked. Punched. Rolled on the sole of my foot before lunging into the air. My muscles burned, my lungs had ca

Chapter 23- Hope and PromisesAURELIA POVI woke up with a gasp. My body jerked upright, breath coming out in sharp, uneven pants as my eyes darted around the room. I was alone. And it was quiet. Too quiet. For a moment, I stared around the place like it was new, and then everything from last night came rushing back. The biting cold, the black mist, and then… Her.Selene. Chapter 25- Fresh StartAURELIA POVSleep never came. Not even once. I spent the entire night bawling my eyes out. Quietly at first, and then harder. So hard that my chest hurt, my throat burned, and my eyes were swollen shut. At some point, everything else, the exhaustion from the day must have taken over, because the next thing I knew, morning light was bleeding through the curtains. Too bright. Too soon. I groaned softly, dragging the blanket over my head, wishing I could hide from the day. From everything else that awaited me. All the instructions… I didn’t even trust myself to remember half of them. But I knew I had to follow them through.

I actually had a job. Me. Aurelia Voss. Former Princess of a werewolf pack, current owner of a Porsche Cayenne GTS, an air mattress, and emotional damage. A real job with time stamps and a monthly cheque. Not the pack’s affairs that used to mount on daily business…I snorted at my own thoughts while driving toward the shopping district. The city still overwhelmed me a little, but today, it didn’t feel as suffocating.

Chapter 29- One Picture. A Thousand LiesAURELIA POVThree weeks. Three weeks in the human world and somehow I managed to snag myself four speeding tickets, ran the red light about a thousand times. I swear that the four-way junction had problems. There’s no way I could have always failed to drive at the right time. And oh, I managed to put a dent in my car’s bumper when I tried reverse parking. But all in all, I survived. I was alive. No rogue attacks. No witches trying to rip my soul from me, no pack politics. Definitely no whispers about traitors and executions and wolves. Just work, coffee, shopping and chaos. Chaos
