Jeffery’s POVThe hot water blasted down on my back, but I still couldn’t shake off the cold feeling from the dream.I stood under the showerhead, letting the steam fill the tiny bathroom until I could barely breathe. The water was almost scalding hot, turning my skin bright red, but I kept the handle turned all the way to the right. I wanted it to burn. I needed it to wash away the lingering ghost of those weird hands, that dark forest, and that strange, booming voice that was still ringing inside my ears. You are the one. What the hell was that even supposed to mean?I grabbed the soap and started scrubbing my arms like crazy. I scrubbed until my skin was sore, but the words wouldn’t wash off. They felt stuck under my skin, right next to my bones. Every time I closed my eyes, I was right back in that creepy dream, surrounded by fog and shadows, listening to a voice that sounded like it belonged to something huge and dangerous.I leaned my head back into the spray, letting the w

Jeffery’s POVThe locker room smelled like hot steam, body spray, and sweaty equipment. Guys were shouting across the room, slamming metal doors shut, and laughing about practice. I sat on the wooden bench, taking way too long to unstrap my shin guards. My fingers were shaking so badly I could barely undo the velcro. I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Every time someone walked past me, I flinched, my heart pounding against my ribs like a trapped bird. Five minutes. That’s what Roland had whispered in my ear on the ice. Five minutes, and I better not keep him waiting. My whole body was buzzing. The heat from the shower room was spilling out into the main area, making the air thick and heavy. But the steam had nothing to do with why my face was burning. It was Roland. It was always Roland. I could hear his voice echoing in my head over and over again. Fake. That stupid word kept running through my mind, sending a sharp wave of heat straight down to my stomach. Out on the ice,

Jeffery's POVRoland’s hands were tight on my shoulders, pulling me up off the cold tile floor. I stumbled a bit because my legs were shaking, but he caught me before I could hit the ground. His chest was moving up and down quickly, his heavy breathing loud in the silent room. I stood there, trying to catch my breath, and wiped the back of my hand across my chin. My lips felt hot and sore. My jaw ached from taking all of him. But honestly, I didn’t care. Not one bit. The locker room was completely quiet now. Coach’s footsteps had long faded down the hallway, leaving just the two of us standing near the back row of gray lockers.I looked up at Roland's face, and my heart did a weird jump. He looked totally thrown off. The arrogant, cocky guy who always acted like he owned the whole rink was gone. His dark hair was messy, sticking to his forehead. His skin was flushed dark red, and his eyes were wide and unguarded. There was no mean smirk. No sarcastic joke. Just him, looking down at m

Roland’s POV Strong hands slammed onto my shoulders, yanking me backward. I stumbled against the cold lockers, the sharp metal digging into my spine as my heels slid across the wet floor. I thrashed around, my chest burning. Miller had his thick forearm locked tight across my chest while two teammates grabbed my wrists, holding me down. “Get off me!” I roared, twisting against their grip. Across the narrow gap, Jeffery was still trying to lunge at me. His face was dark red, his chest heaving fast, and big tears spilled over his lashes. He looked wild, furious, and completely heartbroken. Three defensive guys threw themselves in front of him, forming a human wall. They were sweating through their shirts, shoving him back toward the wooden bench, blocking my view. The whole locker room was pure chaos. Everyone was shouting, their voices bouncing off the tiled walls. “Break it up! What the hell, guys?!” Miller yelled into my ear, straining to keep me pinned. “Are you two out

Roland’s POVI leaned against the doorframe with my arms crossed. Jeffery was out there with Maxwell, and it pissed me off more than I wanted to admit. I kept my face blank, but inside I was burning. This was supposed to be our night. Just us. And now this guy was here talking to him like he had every right.Jeffery was mine right now. Or at least that’s how it felt. Our night wasn’t over. We still had things unresolved between us, and Maxwell showing up messed it all up.Maxwell looked at me carefully. “You okay, man?”I forced a grin. “Oh, I’m fantastic. Just never been great at sharing. Ask my kindergarten teacher.” I winked, but my eyes stayed fixed on Jeffery. I couldn’t look away even when I wanted to.The air felt weird and heavy. Everyone was being polite on the outside while the real feelings sat underneath. Jeffery kept glancing at me. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, and that made the whole thing worse.I stayed right there, blocking the door. This was my place. Jeffer
