Chapter 11LilithFrom the look written all over Daphne’s face, I knew she was pissed with my decision, but since I was hellbent on taking the job, there was nothing she could do. Guilt tore my heart to shreds when I saw her face drop in sadness. I hated making her feel bad. I wish there was another way, but there wasn't. The end of the week was around the corner, and it would be more tragic if I went to the hospital empty-handed. “I want you to wish me luck,” I said to her, my eyes pinned on her sad brown ones. “Goodluck,” she mouthed, holding my arms firmly against my sides. “When do you want to start?” “Right now!” I replied in excitement. “Fine. If only you know what's in that section, there is nothing to be excited about.” She resumed her speech. “Girl, I thought we've passed that stage. You wished me luck.” I threw my hands in the air in confusion. A part of me started to get irritated at her constant discouragement. If I had another option, I wouldn't take this job.
