ANNA"Anna, have you really not spared a single thought for your sister's feelings?" Jenna asked. My gaze slowly lifted from my shoes to Jenna's irritated face. My stepmother let out an impatient huff while I merely raised an eyebrow. What had she just said?I was supposed to think about Lea's feelings? Then what about mine? Not a single person cared about how I felt, not even Dylan. Watching him leave me standing alone in front of the boutique had left an ache in my chest. I fought to keep my tears from falling. And now Jenna was putting all the blame on me. What had I done wrong? Dylan is my husband. Why should he give in to my own sister when she's nothing more than the woman he's having an affair with? Was that really how narrow-minded Jenna was?"Lea is nothing but a mistress," I said boldly.Jenna's eyes widened. "You've got a lot of nerve saying that to my face." She stepped forward and grabbed my arm, dragging me away. When we reached the deserted hallway outside the restroom,

“Lea said you were rude to her.”Jessy's voice came from the living room, stopping me just as I reached the first step of the staircase.Just as I expected, Jessy had already heard everything from Lea.What a tattletale.I tightened my grip on the paper bag in my hand before turning to face her. I forced a smile onto my face. “What exactly does my little sister mean by rude?” I asked, deliberately emphasizing the words little sister.Jessy clicked her tongue. “You shoved her away and told her to leave when all she wanted was to spend time with Dylan. Do you seriously think you can steal Dylan from Lea?” she mocked with a dismissive laugh.“Dylan doesn't have time to entertain Lea. He's busy. That's why I told her to leave. Erwin already has his hands full handling everything at the office,” I replied firmly, making one of Jessy's eyebrows arch.“And how would you know that? What could you possibly know about Dylan's business?”“I know,” I answered.I turned to walk away, but Jessy gra

DYLANAnna caught her breath. I could faintly smell the wine on her lips. I had no intention of taking this any further.Just a brief touch of our lips, that was all I'd planned. For a few seconds, I pressed my lips against her soft ones before finally pulling away. Our first kiss after three years of marriage.Ridiculous.Anna's cheeks were flushed, whether from embarrassment or the alcohol, I couldn't tell. Her eyes were still half-lidded as she looked at me. Slowly, she slipped both arms around my neck, catching me completely off guard."Anna, you should get some sleep. You're drunk," I said. She shook her head with a pout. Honestly, I'd never seen this side of her before. Seeing her cling to me like this was something entirely new. Her breasts pressed against my chest, soft and warm.Instinctively, I rested a hand against her back. Tilting her head, Anna spoke in a teasing voice, her lips only inches from mine."That wasn't really a kiss, was it?"Then she leaned close and whisper

LEATHIS ISN'T MY FAULT!I repeated those words to myself the entire drive back to my apartment. My hands trembled on the steering wheel. Without realizing it, I chewed at the skin around my nails until my thumb started bleeding. I barely noticed the throbbing pain. The image of Anna lying on the floor with blood pouring from her head made my body tense all over again.A chill crept over my skin. There was no way she'd die from hitting her head like that...No way.And even if she did... wouldn't that be better? She'd never get in the way of my relationship again. The police might arrest me, but I was sure Dad could get me out of it without much trouble.Yeah.Everything's going to be fine, Lea.I kept repeating those words in my head, trying to calm myself.Besides, this was all her fault. If she hadn't played those stupid games with Dylan, I never would've done something so reckless.Maybe.Either way, if anyone accused me of pushing Anna and causing her injuries, I'd stick to that

Dylan had promised to stay with me today. But a few hours after I woke up, he still left to meet Gio. I didn't mind. His work couldn't wait.To keep myself from getting bored, I left my room and walked to the garden where Vallen and I usually sat and talked. While I was quietly enjoying the afternoon, someone took the seat beside me. Vallen held out a cup of tea and a bag of bread from the bakery we used to love."Your eyes light up every time you see this bread," Vallen teased as he unwrapped it for me."We used to come to this bakery with my mom all the time, remember?" I said, studying the chocolate bread with a wistful smile. "I don't love it just because it reminds me of those days. Mom loved it too," I added, my vision beginning to blur."Just enjoy the bread. Don't be sad. I won't buy it for you again if you end up crying," Vallen warned.Instead of holding it back, I burst into tears. He let out a weary sigh and turned to face me. Cupping my cheeks with both hands, he gently w
