The crimson hunt

NyxWith the number of times my jaw dropped today, I'm surprised it's still attached to my face. Even though I wasn't able to witness it, I'm so happy that Mira found her mate. But then, Cullen?"Cullen? As in my brother Cullen?" I knew my question was stupid but I couldn't help it. Her eyes caught the reflection of the chandelier in the middle of the ballroom."Of course, Nyx. Which other Cullen do you know?" Like I said, I'm happy she found her mate, I just don't get why she is."Cullen is a douchebag." The words slipped out before I could think."He's the future Beta." She had a dreamy look in her eyes. What the fuck?"He's a douchebag." I repeated. I don't know what the mate bond did to her, but she's not paying attention to the douchebag part."And he's so handsome," her eyes found mine, "and he accepted me. We accepted each other." More like you handed your brains to him in exchange for the bond."Is this what you want?" Of course it's all she ever wanted. Is he who she wants th

Marked

NyxMy heart skipped two beats, before pounding against my chest again. It was so loud, I'm sure every wolf here already had sore ears. The current attention was a blur, especially when his voice dropped so low, so taunting. For a heartbeat, there was silence, then the uproar began again. Overlapping voices laced with shock and disgust filled the room. Kyrell blinked as if he had just broken off from a trance. That's exactly what it was, a trance."What's going on here?" I didn't realize Vesper had already crossed the room and was now standing beside me. My eyes swept the room. The disgust of the wolves, the anger in the Alpha's eyes, and the confusion in the Luna's. I shifted my gaze back to Vesper, who looked like she was seconds away from tearing me apart."I don't understand. Why are you standing next to this human?" Vesper's voice cracked, like she was refusing to accept reality. What the fuck is the reality? That I'm his mate? That's not possible. I'm not even a werewolf. I sho

Until she turns

NyxThe sound of birds chirping woke me up, my eyes fluttered open, but my mind was blank for some time. Slowly my eyes scanned the room. Too big for one person, not cramped up with unnecessary furniture, the bed beneath me didn't creak, this wasn't my room.I sat up too fast and the room tilted, the soft bed sinking in a bit. Memories of last night rushed back in pieces. The last thing I remembered was Cullen trying to take me home after the hunt before...My hand flew to my neck and I pushed myself off the bed and crossed the room. My legs were shaking as I walked towards a full-length mirror. I pulled my hair aside and gasped at the sight before me.There was a bandage on the spot that was beginning to throb. I gently took it out to see what was behind. A mark was just below my pulse point, like an animal bite. Four fang marks that seemed to be connecting to a single mark.I touched it, and the mark glowed faintly under my fingers. What on earth? Warmth spread down my neck and into

Connected to him

NyxI stared at the man in front of me, trying to make sense of his words. I came up with nothing. I didn't understand what the fuck he just said, and he didn't look like he was going to offer any explanation."What do you mean until I turn?" I asked after a brief moment of silence, staring intently at him.Actually, there wasn't silence. There hadn't been since this morning. I've been hearing different sounds and I don't know how that's possible when he's the only person with me. Hell, I don't know anything at this point."Aren't you going to say anything "Alpha"?"He didn't answer, just turned to leave."Don't you think after everything you've done, the least you owe me is an explanation?" I snapped, my eyes fixed on the back of his head.He halted and faced me. His expression turned cold, and his eyes were filled with resentment. He took a step towards me."You," his voice felt like ice on my skin. I didn't know when I stepped back. "You mutt."Suddenly, he closed the distance and

Please stop

KyrellThird personKyrell has never hated anyone this much. He hates her so much it literally hurts him when she's in pain. He hated that she had survived the bite. That mark was meant to be for his Luna, reserved for their mating night. At the same time he wouldn't have forgiven himself if she didn't.He walked through the hallway of his mansion, heading to the garage. He wasn't blind. He knows when someone was faking concern. The first time he saw her, she was running from someone, and he confirmed who that person was last night."Alpha." Samiel was already waiting by the car. He didn't say anything else to him when they got in. Samiel was shocked by last night's events, as was everyone present. It's a relief that the former Alpha and Luna left the ceremony early.Kyrell was angry with himself, and he knows he's the one to blame. His parents already left the leadership of the pack to him and his Luna. He should be at the pack house with her, not here with the abomination he couldn'

Escape

NyxIt's been happening for a week, whatever it was that kept causing me unbearable chest burn. First, it was the rejection, then the day "Prince Alpha" brought me here.I was plotting my escape when the mark began to throb before exploding into pain. That pain kept coming back every now and then. And I don't think today would be any different. Pain doesn't care about birthdays. Just like every other birthdays, I'll be spending this one locked up in the room, with additional pain as a gift. The lock opened, and the security guard walked in, holding a tray of cold food. He kept it on the floor and walked away without a word, like he always did. I didn't know how many guards they were, but he's the only one I've seen so far. After days of trying and failing to understand what he meant by "until I turn," I gave up. There was every possibility that he was just messing with my head, and I refuse to let him.I moved to the bathroom, showered, and changed into one of the dresses the guard br

The Fall

NyxWatching Prince Alpha running towards me at full speed didn't offer me relief. Panic surged through me instead. I knew that I would have been safer with the guards. The closer he got, the more I felt weak in the knees, but I'm not giving up now. Please, magic thingy, don't run out on me yet, not when I'm fast approaching a cliff. I looked at the cliff up ahead. If I somehow managed to jump an eight-foot-high fence, I should be able to jump down a cliff, right? How hard canbit be if not a couple of crushed bones?I could only hope thick bushes lay at the bottom. At least I wouldn't have to worry about drowning. Swimming is one of the basic things I miraculously don't know how to do.When I got closer to the cliff, the voice sounded in my head again, clearer and deeper this time.'Stay still, Nyx.'How's he talking in my head? I came to an abrupt stop when I got to the foot of the cliff, my hands grabbing nothing but air for balance. I had managed to stop just in time. Unlike what I

The crash

Third personWhatever Kyrell was feeling at this point was something he had never felt before. Something he never thought he could feel.Fear.To think that a creature so insignificant could draw out such emotion from him was nerve-wracking.However, Kyrell couldn't wait around to hate her. He lunged after her. The sound of bones cracking and guttural snarls filled the air as Xerus clawed out of him and let out a deafening howl before jumping after his mate.'Stay put. Inform my beta of the situation,' he mind-linked the guards before they could transform and follow after him.Xerus saw his mate falling like a potato sack, her red hair covering her face. She didn't struggle, but he smelled her fear. He felt it.Nyx was waiting to crash into a rock, hoping for a quick death. Instead, arms like bands of steel wrapped around her, slamming her against a hard surface. She shot her eyes open, tilting her head to meet deep red ones. The beast holding her felt like a giant teddy bear made of

Lycan Attack

NyxI woke up with an excruciating pain in my spine. I'm eighteen, not eighty, it's too early for waist pain. Not that I had anyone to blame when I slept sitting up all night.Wait. All night? I took in my surroundings, a narrow path with bushes, rocks and my sweatshirt lying on the floor. I stood up straight and winced at my back pain.Where is Prince Alpha? I wouldn't be surprised if he ran off and left me here. However, that's unlikely since he literally jumped off a cliff just to save me, even though he was the one who put me in the situation to begin with."Prince Alpha?" I picked up the sweatshirt from the floor and started searching for him."Hello!" I shouldn't even be looking for him. However, I needed to know if he was still alive. I don't think I would be able to add murderer to my portfolio."Prince Alpha? My Lord? Honestly, I don't give a damn about you, but if you're alive, just howl or growl, whatever sound Lycans make, because I wouldn't..."I stopped dead in my tracks

I know love

Nyx Instinct took over, and I clawed at the soil, trying to push myself back to my feet. But I was no match for a Lycan, not even with my newfound strength, which had somehow vanished. It lifted me by my ankle, turning my world upside down.My scream filled the air, but I could still hear the familiar growl in my head.'Useless.'Almost immediately, he knocked down the Lycan that was about to devour me, and I hit the ground with a thud. This time, I didn't waste a second before scrambling for higher ground. I scrambled to my feet and ran like my life depended on it. It actually did.I ignored the lightheadedness I felt and kept running farther into the field, my eyes searching for any form of shelter. Some part of me was worried about the Lycan Prince, and it had nothing to do with the throbbing on my neck. My breathing grew heavier, but I didn't stop until a tiny cabin came into view. The cabin was old and looked abandoned.Cobwebs welcomed me as I pushed open the wooden door. Inside
