All Chapters of My Mafia Stepdad's Obsession : Chapter 31 - Chapter 40

HERMES' POVIt was the third suit I was changing into in half the day, I strode through to my office, workers stood in greeting…I wasn't in the mood to glance at them today, I threw the used tissue I had just used to wipe my hands of Kayla's blood into the trash can. She was lucky she was only Liana's colleague, I wouldn't have hesitated to throw her body into the sea.The moment I opened the door to my office I froze mid way. Sienna Vale. Sienna Vale sat on the edge of my desk, legs crossed, one heel dangling off her toes, the slit in her dress cut high enough to make the intent obvious. Glassy eyes, that same half-amused look she'd always worn, like she still owned the room just by sitting in it.She was bold, and audacious…it has always been the reason I had liked her in the past and the same reason I had left her too.I gave her nothing and took off the buttons of my suit jacket."Not going to ask what I'm doing here?" "What are you doing here?""Don't tell me you don't miss

HERMES' POVHer eyes lit up, and she bit her lower lip, believing it made her look alluring.I was more determined to get my flash drive back than to keep up with sienna games today. The moment she opened her bag I thought for once she was going to get this done but rather brought out her phone again. Her fingers had barely closed around the phone, still stalling, when I closed the distance between us and gripped her throat instead.Wrapping my hands around and pulling her body.I held it tight enough to lock off her air completely. Her eyes went wide, veins standing out along her neck as she clawed uselessly at my wrist, gasping for something that wasn't coming."The drive," I said, calm, watching her face turn a shade darker. "Now."She nodded, frantic, as much as my grip allowed.I let go.She dropped forward, gasping, one hand braced against the bed, tears streaking down her face as she fought to catch her breath. I didn't wait for her to recover. I straightened my shirt, buttoned

HERMES' POVDrake had been trying to drag me out since Marco’s funeral. Every invitation since then had gotten the same answer…. busy, another time, next week, until tonight, when he showed up at my office in person and simply refused to leave without me.The club was exactly what I expected. Low lights, bass heavy enough to feel in my ribs, girls rolling their hips in front of a table already crowded with bottles nobody at it needed. This was the kind of space Drake loved the most, including business meetings, his birthdays and when he wanted to cry his eyes out after getting heartbroken every month.I nursed one drink the entire time. Drake, three rounds in, had clearly decided that made him the more interesting man at the table."You've been a ghost, Hermes." He leaned back, one arm draped over the booth. "A year. A full year of 'busy.' Do you know what that does to a man's pride? Being turned down that many times by his best friend's best friend?""Send me an invoice.""Two gran

HERMES' POVThe moment the question left her lips I froze for a moment…not the one that I had to be scared to spill out the truth but the fact that I have to give an explanation for my actions.I had never done this in years, not in the life I had built in a world filled with people I can control.Touching her was one thing I already hated so much.I hated myself for it, but I needed her exactly where she was, unguarded, convinced she still had me, convinced the marriage still meant something to me beyond the mission I'd built it around. The moment she stopped believing that, every door I'd spent years prying open would slam shut for good. So I let her ask her a question. I let her think she still had the right to."Sienna's my ex." I said it plainly, no cushioning, no excuses built in around it. "She wouldn't leave me alone. She had something of mine and used it as leverage to get into this house. That's the whole story."Celeste studied my face for a moment, searching for the lie

LIANA'S POVI was still mad. I'd skipped dinner the night before out of spite, and my stomach had complained all night. By the time I got out of bed for school, I was starving. My phone buzzed just as I was putting on my socks. It was Rei."You're never going to believe what I'm doing this summer," she said the second I picked up."Try me.""I'm opening a cookie and coffee shop in Italy. It's going to have a full Barbie aesthetic....pink everywhere, gold trim, the whole place.""So, no more sleepovers or parties because you'll be too busy being a girl boss?" I teased, laughing despite the ache that still lingered in my chest."Exactly. You'll have to book an appointment to see me."We talked through my whole morning through light makeup, through grabbing my bag, down the stairs, past the empty spot where Sienna should have been sulking around the kitchen and wasn't. Rei moved from the coffee shop plan to some new transfer student she'd apparently already decided was cute, and I let he
