Mira’s POV The night was unusually quiet. I lay alone in my room after dinner, staring at the ceiling as the silence wrapped around me. My apartment felt emptier than ever, and boredom slowly settled over me. There was nothing worth watching on television, none of my friends were online, and no matter how hard I tried, sleep refused to come. With a sigh, I tossed my phone onto the bed. Barely five seconds later, I reached for it again, unlocking the screen out of habit. My thoughts drifted to Damon. My ex-boyfriend. It had been months since we broke up, yet memories of him still found their way into my mind. I remembered the way he’d smile whenever he caught me staring at him, the lazy Sunday mornings we spent tangled beneath the blankets, and the promises we’d whispered to each other promises that had eventually become nothing more than broken lies. I let out a weary sigh and rubbed my forehead. “Get over him already, Mira,” I muttered, forcing out a humorless laugh.
