Chapter 11 ~Lowest rank slave~

Simon walked to her and looked her up and nodded before speaking.“Follow me.” As soon as Adriana stepped into the gates, they creaked close shutting them in and her pulse jumped sharply.“Walk fast!” Simon hissed and Adriana turned back to follow him.He walked quickly and she tried to catch up with him while gazing around. The place had an unusual fog around it and she tried to make out the place. She said Simon mumbling ahead of her and she trailed after him.Groans and grunts sounded afar and as she walked after Simon, it became clearer when she saw them.Women, men, children. They were in a very big hole digging with their hands, their bodies covered with dirt and the clothes they had on were torn and dirty. From a corner, she saw men holding whips in their hands and it was so long and thick. They watched the people in the hole with eyes like hawks as if waiting for them to err.And it happened.A child stopped for a moment to yawn and a whip landed sharply on his back.He waile

Chapter 12 ~The Citadel ~

“Move,” Simon said to them and Adriana and the rest of the slaves went out of the room. They saw Aaron turning into a corner, and they followed him. They saw three carriages already waiting for them, with two guards beside them. One of them opened a carriage door and Aaron got in. Then, the other guard walked towards them.“Be on a straight line and get into the carriages.” He said to them and they obliged.Adriana entered the last carriage with only a tiny space left for her to sit. There were two seats in the carriage facing each other and they all crammed among themselves.A whistle sounded outside and the carriage lurched forward, throwing them against one another.Adriana wondered where they were going and who the man in the first carriage was.Since last night she hasn't been able to get a moment of rest or even catch a breath. It was as if life was having a good laugh playing with her life each time putting her in dreadful situations. She clasped her hands together and stared

Chapter 13 ~Scars~

Miranda's eyes darkened as she held Adriana's own.Adriana shifted in her position under the woman's scrutiny, but she didn't avert her eyes.Miranda's hand came up and she touched Adriana's hair, her fingers tightening on it briefly.“Silver hair.” She said to Aaron over her shoulder.Aaron shrugged. “Peculiar but she is beautiful.”Miranda looked at Adriana and eyed her then her chin came up and she turned away from her.“You all will be serving the king and..” She paused, a dark smirk appearing on her face. “The rich nobles.”Adriana didn't like the sound of that and the way the woman's eyes squinted at them.“You will be assigned your work at the crack of dawn but for now, rest,” Miranda said and beckoned to one of the guards.“Take them to the second slave quarters.” She turned and walked up to Aaron who was holding the door ajar and she cast a swift glance at Adriana before entering the door with Aaron slamming it shut.“Move it.” The guard ordered and they all followed his lead

Chapter 14 ~A day before the full moon~

The slaves in the quarters stirred as the sun rose on the horizon and activities bustled around them. The door creaked open and the guard from last night came in.“Arise from your slumber and get ready to be assigned to your day's work.”Adriana tapped Erica who was still sleeping beside her and she stirred awake. They scrambled out of the quarters falling into line and went to stand before Miranda who was waiting for them outside.“Ladies, today is your first day and I don't want sluggishness. You have to be sharp and smart as do the work given to you if not you will be dealt with.” She moved around them in circles and looked them up and down. She came to stand before them again and laid her hands on her waist.“Some of you will be working inside the palace while some will work outside the palace walls.” She pointed at one of the slaves. “You will be working within the palace walls, move to the right.” The slave went to where she had pointed.Miranda pointed to another one. “To the l

Chapter 15 ~The beast within~

Adriana scrubbed the floor and her stomach grumbled. She had been assigned to the horse stable and had been told to pack the horse waste and also scrub the grounds till it was sparkling before she could eat.Her hand throbbed from all the scrubbing but she went on.She needed to be done with this and rest and her stomach needed to be fed.She heard noises coming from outside then footsteps entered the stable and stopped. She looked up and saw two men staring at her in surprise. They didn't look like guards and their attire told her they were nobles.“Who are you?” One of them finally spoke.Adriana tipped her head up to look at them. “A maid.” She replied.“Why are you here cleaning the stables? I thought that was the work of the male servant.” The other one spoke up.“I was assigned to do so.” Adriana was already exhausted and wished they would just go on their way.“Marcus leave the maid alone to her work and let's do what we came to do.” Marcus nodded and followed his brother to t

Chapter 16 ~Before the full moon~

Adriana woke up with a groan, feeling the stiffness in her neck and hands.Erica was patting her hand trying to wake her up and Adriana turned away opening her eyes. She groaned again and sat up slowly.“We have to go out for the day's work. Miranda will be waiting.” She heard Erica's voice slip into her foggy brain and she yawned.“Come on let's go.”Adriana looked up and saw the other slaves already on their feet and moving out and she struggled to her feet wincing as her legs held her weight. Her legs were still healing, and they throbbed with every step. Yesterday's endless work had only made them worse. She went out with Erica who was a little step ahead of her and they joined the other slaves who were already gathered in front of Miranda.Miranda tapped the sole of her shoe on the ground, her arms folded and she waited for Erica and Adriana to join them before speaking.“Good morning slaves.”Adriana grimaced hating the name more than anything else.“Today is day two of your wor

Chapter 17 ~The breaking point~

Adriana moved to the last stable and bent down to scrub the floors. Her back ached and she felt her muscles screaming in protest but she couldn't stop.Stopping will only give Miranda the chance to punish her more than she had done and she won't give her the satisfaction to do so.So she kept scrubbing even when her fingers scraped on a sharp edge in the floor and tore.Adriana was done at last and she stood up slowly. Her bones cracked loudly as her stiff joints settled back into place. She took up the bucket with the remaining cleaning supplies and walked slowly outside. The sky was already darkened and she saw the moon in its full form shining so bright. She had forgotten tonight was the full moon.A night meant for mates to satisfy their hunger and also a night of hunting and shedding of blood. She had always suppressed her heat by surrounding herself with flowers but tonight wasn't going to be like that. She felt her heat building up and her wolf whimpered. She dared not go to th

Chapter 18 ~The king's chamber~

The King's aide ran as fast as his legs could carry him and he went to the slave quarters where the female slaves resided. He had heard new slaves had arrived days ago and were kept in the second slave quarters and he headed there. He couldn't go to the first slave quarters. They have served the king for years and he couldn't let rumours get out about the King's state, so he needs someone new. Someone who wouldn't be recognized or missed if she didn't leave the King’s chamber alive. He met Miranda outside and she ran over to him when she saw him.“Your royal.” She bowed her head. “What brings you here to our humble place?”“I need female slaves, fresh blood.” He said to her and Miranda looked up.“Why?...”“They are to satisfy some nobles. This is the full moon and they are all at the edge.” The royal aide lied quickly and Miranda nodded.“Your wish is my command. I'll select the finest ones and bring them to you.” But the royal aide was already shaking his head. “No, I'll choose th

Chapter 19 ~Behind the golden door~

Adriana placed her palm on a muscular chest and felt hair protruding from the skin; a growl rumbled from within. She could feel Mia trembling in fear but she didn't know why she wasn't scared. Instead, she felt a strange excitement curling in her stomach. She moved closer and her body brushed against his.A hiss came out of him and Adriana leaned in.Moonlight came flooding in at that moment before receding into the clouds, bringing the room back to darkness, and Adriana was able to see the man before her in the briefest moment, and she gasped. His upper body was exposed, and patches of fur covered parts of his chest and shoulders and she also saw hair pouting from the back. But that was not what made her mouth drop.It was his face. It was structured in fine lines, two horns were protruding out on top of his head and his golden-red eyes made him look dangerous, yet magnificent. He was magnificent. Her body tingled and she almost purred.Mia wasn't whimpering anymore and had gone sile

She wanted to feel him deep within her and even when her legs screamed for mercy, Adriana still felt the heat burning within her.He rose and then slammed into her again hitting her depth.“Deeper.” Her voice came out cracked from all her screaming. She heard herself and a small part of her wondered where this word was coming from. She had lost her mind when she felt his shaft probe her entrance and she was here shouting and moaning for more. She couldn't understand her body, it was like it had a mind of its own, clinging to the king. Her top had been thrown aside in the heated moment and she raised her body, her erect nipples pressing his chest as if wanting to leave an imprint. The room was still dark and she couldn't see his face again but his golden-red eyes illuminating the dark, were enough for her.It burned brighter and she found comfort staring deep in it.She felt the sweet pleasure of fulfillment building u
