Semua Bab I Was His Secret Wife, Now I'm His Nightmare : Bab 1 - Bab 10

Never would Audrey Lockwood have imagined that the night she planned to save her marriage would be the night the marriage would come crumbling down. She had been cooking for four hours. Not that the kitchen had been particularly cooperative. Two failed attempts at her husband’s favorite herb-crusted salmon, a pot of risotto she had had to start from scratch and a smoke alarm she had silenced with a kitchen towel.Audrey wasn't the best cook and she knew it but tonight was different. Tonight, she needed everything to be perfect. She stood back and surveyed the dining table— candles, Derek's favourite wine, his favourite meals — and her phone buzzed against the counter. She almost didn't reach for it. She was used to it being nothing — a spam email or a package notification. But when she flipped it over and saw Derek's name on the screen, her heart leapt. Derek never texted her, he rarely even talked to her, but here he was, sending a text on their third anniversary day.She opened th

Derek's mouth crashed against hers before she could react. He was kissing her roughly, roughly trying to pull her clothes off her her. Audrey immediately fought back, shoving against his chest, but he was stronger. Her injured wrist sent a sharp bolt of pain through her arm every time she struggled. She was filled with disgust. She had always longed for moments like this when Derek wanted her. For years, she had wanted him to look at her the way a husband should look at his wife. She had begged for his attention, begged for scraps of affection, begged for him to choose her.He never did.And now, after shattering her heart beyond repair, after humiliating her with Regina, he suddenly thought he could touch her whenever he wanted. He now had the audacity to try and force himself on her.The irony was enough to make her sick.Rage mixed with disgust consumed her and she dodged the next kiss, turning her head away from him. "What the hell, Derek? Get the fuck off me!" She screamed at hi

Derek didn't sleep that night. He had expected Audrey to storm off to the guest room again, slam a door, maybe cry where he couldn't see her. That was the pattern. That was always the pattern. He'd say something cruel, she'd shrink, and by morning she'd be quiet and compliant again, moving around the kitchen like nothing happened.Instead, she hadn't said a word after his threat about the child. She'd just looked at him – that same cold, unreadable stare she'd been giving him more and more lately – and walked upstairs. He told himself it didn't matter. He told himself she'd come around. He fell asleep on the couch sometime past three a.m, still half-drunk, and woke up to a deafening silence. No coffee smell. No sound of her moving around upstairs. No radio playing softly in the kitchen the way it always did when she couldn't sleep.Nothing."Audrey?"His voice cracked through the empty living room. The balloons from last night sagged limp against the ceiling, half-deflated, some of th

Audrey found a spare blouse and pants in the back of the closet, it was untouched and tucked behind the ruined rack. It was cream silk and slightly too big in the shoulders for her but it was clean and that was all that mattered. She changed quickly, her hands still trembling from the incident with Diana, and folded the card with Diana's handwriting into her blazer pocket instead of throwing it away.'Evidence,' she told herself. 'Keep everything. You'll need it later.'By the time she stepped back into the hallway, her face was smooth again, every trace of the espresso and the shaking hands locked away where nobody could see it.She found her father near the executive lounge, standing beside Diana, who had somehow already changed the entire shape of her expression. Gone was the venom from twenty minutes ago. In its place sat a warm, doting smile, her hand resting lightly on their father's arm."–and I really do think the Q3 campaign needs another look before we present it to MacKenzie

Her name in his voice... his voice... was deep and calm and controlled. The way her name rolled off so naturally... Audrey had never loved someone call out her name so much. Then Audrey realized that he actually just called out her name."You–" Her own voice came out barely above a whisper. "You remember me.""I remember everything about that night."Beside her, Carla made a small, strangled sound."I don't understand." Audrey shook her head slightly, still trying to catch up. "I never even got your name. I had no idea you–""Owned this hotel." He finished the sentence for her, and the corner of his lips curled into something like a smile, it was barely there and gone almost as fast as it appeared, but it was real. "I didn't exactly advertise it that night.""You let me think you were just some guy hiding, when it was actually your own party?" Audrey almost exclaimed, she still couldn't believe what was happening. The man she had had a magical night with at a random party with, on a
