Blair. The hold was gentle, and the muscular arms shielded me, and my head was buried on his chest, “It’s okay, Blair, it’s okay.” Those were the words he muttered. I sniffed and pushed my tears back in. His smell, like a blend of bergamot and rich cedarwood but Inker was too weak to feel anything, and she was slowly withdrawing from me. I couldn’t force her out, I wouldn’t be able to do that, she was breaking down. We expected the break of our bond, we didn’t expect it to come this way. Then I pulled away and started to run out of the town hall. “Blair!”“Wait, Blair!”I didn’t turn, I kept on running, not even the laughter behind me could stop, I wanted to go far away from them. “Why are you telling her to stop!” “Let her go, Aden.”“What are you doing right now?” Kayda’s voice was loud enough for me not to hear the words that she said. I didn’t turn to see their reaction, I didn’t care. They were part of the people I wanted to get away from. I stopped when I got too far of

Blair. He dropped me off at the house and left. He didn’t come in, he didn’t see Kayda, no words, nothing. I stood on the front porch, watching as he drove out. His presence made me feel nervous, while he was seated next to me in the backseat. Inker had stirred, but it wasn’t much, and she was quiet again. I wanted another sign from the Moon Goddess if he was indeed my mate. And if he felt the same way, I didn’t want another one-sided affair, that’s why I was going to ignore whatever feeling was coming. Worse, he was engaged to Kayda. “…” He glanced at me and caught my stares, we both looked away instantly. “I want you to know that you’re enough,” I said the most unhinged thing when I get nervous, so most times I would want to keep quiet. “Nobody can handle a big woman.”“I can.” My eyes darted to him and found him staring back at me, this was the longest we held eye contact, I broke it. “Kayda is beautiful.” I peeped at him, and his gaze had gone to the window. “She is…

Blair. I didn’t step out of my room for almost two days, I took everything that I needed into my room and ate. I wanted to look for my mother, but the only thing I knew was her first name. She was the one who could find me, I couldn’t find her, there were a lot of names that started with Susanne, and my dad won’t tell me anything about her.I had no pictures, nothing. Inker was healing, and she was slowly coming out. I could feel her and she responded more than before. And I never heard from Morris after that day. I heard a knock on my door, I wasn’t ready to leave the bed and the baked chickens I was eating, the reality show had all my interest, and I didn’t want to move. “Who is it?” I yelled. “Your sister.”I rolled my eyes. “What do you want, Kayda?”“Can you open the door?” I sighed, paused the TV, pushed everything to the side, and came down from the bed. I went to the door and opened it, but she didn’t come in. She stood in front of the doorpost. “I came to apologize

Blair. The lady took off her glasses, and I saw the scar that was on her right eye down to her cheek, the right eye was blind. She ran straight into Kayda, gripped her by the shirt, and pulled her. Kayda tried to fight back, but her grip was strong. “Go ahead and tell everyone what you did to me!” She shouted, and cast a swift glance at me. “Isn’t she Blair?” “You are not going to…” Kayda forcefully pushed her away, and their voices got louder. The strange lady pointed a finger. “You know how Kayda is, manipulating, and evil, because you’re rich and…and…” she started to stutter, and the direction of her gaze shifted, I turned, knowing I had been quiet the whole time. Aden was out of the house, with his Beta beside him, he was staring right at Kayda, and she was trying to clear everything up with an awkward smile. “What’s going on?”“A misunderstanding.” She chuckled and brushed her hair with her hand. “You don’t have to worry about anything.”“Where are the guards, take her out

Blair. Alpha Aden left before I could even speak, he didn’t give a glance back, he walked out of the house with his Beta behind him. I stood with my jaw slack. Was he going to use me for the wedding? Was he insane? Why would I want to be a replacement for Kayda? She was the one he was with for the engagement, and he wants to be with me?Kayda turned slowly and stared icily at me. “What is this, Blair?”I shook my head. “I don’t know.”“You don’t know?” She stepped closer to me threateningly. “You don’t know that you shared a bond with my fiancé the whole time?” “You slut!” She grabbed me by the hair and tried to hit my head on the railings on the stairs. I held the back of her hair, and we were both gripping hard at each other and not letting go. She hit me, and I retaliated. I didn’t care that she was taller than me, and she wasn’t thirteen anymore that I let her do whatever she wanted. “Enough!” Dad growled, but Kayda didn’t let go of me, stepmom interfered, but she joined her
