OLPHEUSRather than going to Eloise first, I decided to go with Federick to my father. I couldn’t avoid him forever. It was better to know what he wanted now, and handle it than to let him ruin my moments with Eloise.Frederick didn’t know why he was summoned either. However, before we got to my father’s wing, goosebumps broke over my body and I knew something was wrong. “Are you alright?” Frederick asked, picking up on the tension that curled over my shoulder.I didn’t respond. I pushed open the door, and found Eloise there, crying softly. My father sat beside her, a smug look on his face, while my mate cried, shoulders shaking, cheeks flushed. Heat spread under my skin quickly and I took a powerful step forward, towards my father. “What did you do to her? What have you fucking done?” He didn’t respond, so I moved to grab him, but Eloise stood up, standing between us. She was still crying. Her eyes were red with tears and every sound she made cut through my heart like a dagger.

ELOISE“Would you like to go with me to court?” He asked afterwards. I looked at him, knowing he was talking about the King’s Court.“Are you sure that is a good idea? Are you sure they want me there? I don’t think it is right.” I blinked, confused. Now that my memories were back, I was constantly paranoid that everyone hated me.He kissed me on my forehead and assured me. “You will be fine, Eloise, you are with me, and if it is any consolation, no one remembers except the royal family and they aren’t in court with us.”I frowned at his word. “Nolan remembers though. How does he remember?”He froze, brows knitting. “That is true. He remembers. How odd …” he trailed off slowly, before giving me a smile. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll handle it.” I tilted my head at him, because I had heard him say that multiple times, and he always ended up murdering someone, mostly for me. I got up, and touched his arm softly. “Whatever plans you have, don’t do it. I know you, Olpheus. So, please, don’

“I can do it!” Natalia ran after me, as I carried the plates to the kitchen. “You’re hurt.” I told her gruffily, without even sparing her a glance.“It doesn’t hurt anymore and you have done enough. I am fine. This is my work, not yours. Please, stop.” She begged, and I glanced at her. She was lying to me. I could see the scars from her past kitchen accidents on her hand, as well as the new one from earlier, which was still red. My nose flared and my head pounded from within. I stormed forward, towards the kitchen, ruminating. I hated that she had to do these odd jobs, but I hated it more when she refused to let me help her. It was only a few dishes. Who gave a fuck about that?“People are going to see you!” She stomped her foot down. Finally, I stopped, and glanced at her. The sight of her knocked the air out of my lungs as if I’d been slammed down by a horse. She was delicate, like a flower, but the fire in her eyes was all mine. I wanted to feel the burn on me. I wanted to know h

OLPHEUS“How about you watch your fucking tone?” I seethed coldly, pulling Eloise closer to him.She wasn’t dead. She wasn’t dying anytime soon. She was here with me, and would forever be with me. Her father glanced at me, and turned pale. “I … I do not mean it that way. I am sorry. I meant … her mother told me she passed, she told me she mourned you. I didn’t … I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you.” I was done listening to their bullshit, so I snapped at him. “State your purpose here, and do not waste my time. What do you want? Why have you come into my Kingdom?” He nodded, and rushed out. “We heard about your decision to take over the Pack, and I am humbly asking you to reconsider, to take a step back, because you would be overstepping, infiltrating into our kingdom.” I rose my brows, stunned by his boldness. He had some guts walking into my home, and telling me to change my mind. If he wasn’t Eloise’s father, he would have lost his head already. “What makes you think I w

I shrugged, smiling at him as I started feeling a bit of discomfort. "I don't know... maybe?" I saw a bit of light die in his eyes as I answered him. Something told me that we meant totally different things as the answer came out of my mouth. "then I promise you, things are going to be different" I watched as his eyes darkened, unable to shake the dreadful feeling any longer. "look, I totally enjoyed today, it was...nice, maybe we could do this some other time. Olpheus is looking for me and genuinely, I think I would want to lay down now" he nodded, not saying another word as I walked out. as I made my way to Olpheus's chamber, I could not help but replay the last words. 'what had he meant? Why did it feel like he was not just talking about us in the library?' "Eloise!" Olpheus rushed to me like his life depended on it, coming a tad bit too close to my personal space. "I thought... you were not..." he shook his head, looking at me with a smile. "I was worried about you" he s
