Chapter 120. Tori's POV Monica's cry changed everything that I knew about her. She had always been mean to me, but she looked so ordinary and relatable as she cried into her hands like a little girl. I wanted to stand up, even though my surgery cuts were yet to heal. I wanted to go to bed and hug her till she was comforted. I didn't have a sister, but if Monica was mine, I would never want to hear her cry again, I would do anything in my power. But I was scared that if I went to her, she would reject me. She would push me away and ask me to get my poor hands away from her. So, I sat down fidgeting as I heard her sob again and again. Then the door clicked open and Mrs Lancaster walked into the room. The beautiful silver haired woman that housed me heme Carmen was going crazy months ago. She was unlike Monica. She was kinder, but I could see in my eyes that I was an inconvenience. Thankfully, she never said it out loud. I was enough with the kindness she

Chapter 122. Adrian's POV I watched Monica very carefully, and I waited to see a change in her, for her mask to shift so that I could prove that this was just a weak attempt by her to save her own neck. Over the next few days, she became best friends with Tori, and before I knew it, Tori had a copy of all the embarrassing pictures I had from childhood. My mother also stayed with both of them at the hospital, and came back to prepare meals for the two ladies. She even whispered to me one-day that whenever I was ready to propose to Tori, I shouldn't forget to ask her for the ring my father gave to her. As for Monica, my mind has concluded that she was genuinely repentant now because she gifted her Chevrolet Corvette C5 (1997) to Tori. If there was one earthly possession that Monica held dearly to her heart, it was that car. She literally starved herself for Dad to get her that car, and I could count with my fingers how many times she had allowed me to get into

Chapter 124. Tori's POV It was like my accident caused a shift in the cosmos. Monica finally genuinely apologized and warmed up to me, and now Emily was giving me a hug? I looked at the receptionist with confusion in my eyes, but she only smiled like she was proud of the two of us. "Madam, I cried when I heard that you had an accident. I went to the temple to pray to the moon goddess to cure you. I'm so happy that she listened to my prayer!" I nodded and reached out to hold her hand. "Thank you, my dear. It means a lot to me." Emily pulled away from me and as if that wasn't enough, she reached out to help me with my bag before even asking. Wow, it felt like I was in paradise. She lead the way into my office and even helped me to pull my seat out. "How are you feeling now?" she asked me. "I feel better." I replied with a shrug. "It was a scary experience, but I'm glad to be alive." "Heard that you had to donate part of your liver to Monica. That was v

Chapter 126. Adrian's POV Seeing my beta being rolled out of the building in a body guard made me so angry that my wolf almost came out. I kicked one of the police car so hard that it left a dent. "We are very sorry, Alpha, but from the look of things, he was already shot when we got here. His wounds were too fatal. There was nothing that we could do for him." I pressed my hand over temple. I blamed myself for this, because I told Damien that Emily was an unrepentant brat, but he believed her instead. She attacked Emily because she just realised that she wasn't going to have a chance with me? A proper psycho. "Sir, if Miss Blackwood would be kind enough to speak to two of my men, so that we could get a clearer picture of what happened. I can assign her to two of my female officers, if that would make her feel better–" "Miss Blackwood will speak to you guys when she is ready, gentlemen. This already ruined my day." I turned to walk away, but the head detective

Chapter 128. Damien's POV Fuck! I punched the steering wheel as soon as I sat down. I had been blaming myself for what happened to Collins, but seeing that look on Adrian's face made me feel awful. He couldn't even allow me to see Tori, and I wasn't going to blame him for that. I put her in danger by vowing that Emily was going to be on her best behaviour. From the rolls of marble headstones, I could see that Adrian's eyes were still fixated me on. I started my car and drove away. I drove back to my hotel and when the front desk called to know what I wanted to eat, I turned down food and ordered for two bottles of wine instead. "This is your fault." My wolf voiced out. "You think I don't know that?" I snorted, drinking directly from the bottle. I was staring out of the window, watching cars going and coming. I had to make this right, not for Adrian, but for Tori's sake. Taking care of Emily would be the only way to address this. I picked up my phone
