Alpha Adrian's POV I smirked at her. This side of her was a part that I had never seen—a part that intrigued me. I never knew she could talk this much, let alone stand up to me. Having her cornered next to the wall, her body flush against mine, was something I lived for. "I'm sorry," she managed to whisper. "Do you think that is enough to take back what you just said?" I asked her. I was enjoying tormenting her a lot more than was necessary. I could not lie—it was fun. "I did not mean to offend you, please," she said. I sighed internally. I preferred that side of her—the vixen. Now she was just back to being plain boring. I walked away from her. "I did not mean to question your integrity too," I said to her, taking my seat back on the bed. She seemed more relaxed now as she walked back to the couch. "Won’t you eat?" I asked, gesturing to the plate on the table. "I did not ask for anything," she said, her voice small. "Well, you flew with me, and I can bas

Tori's POV The town of France was beautiful. That was one thing I knew much about. From the beautifully paved roads to the people in the city and the way the sky blinked above us, it felt like I had stepped into an ethereal moment, far away from the hustle and bustle of New York. "I did not have much time to prepare a perfect plan, but I do know that we can try lots of their traditional foods—only if you want to, of course," he said, grinning at me. This was it. This was what I needed to heal. Perhaps I should have moved out of the country. Perhaps by now I would be among these multitude of strangers, no thought of Alex in my head, as I tried to take a cup of coffee. With each passing second, I could feel myself falling in love with Damian. With the way he smiled and the way he talked, with the way he showed care and affection at the slightest provocation. The soft-serve ice cream was the best I had had in a while, and as we walked through the city, looking at their beauti

Chapter 26 Tori’s POV I was nervous. I toyed with the idea of going back, telling him there was nothing I could do, and making a dive for it while I still could. Even as we pulled into the venue, I was still not sure I wanted to be amongst them—in such a powerful place. A hand gently slid between mine, his calloused fingers slipping into my hand as he pulled me closer, nudging me to walk forward. The butterflies in my stomach immediately gained attention, dancing around until I felt heady. I wanted to believe that this gesture of his was mainly because we were now at the event and not because he cared for me. It was better for me to believe that anyway—it helped my sanity. “Ah, Alpha Adrian! It’s always pleasant to see you,” a grey-haired man said as he walked towards us. “It’s great to see you too. I was beginning to think we wouldn’t be seeing you much around since your son already took over,” Alpha Adrian said, his face pressed into a thin line of a smile. I cou

Chapter 28 Alpha Adrian’s POV To say I was angry would be an understatement. I was furious. I wanted to grab his head and smash it into a pulp, watch the blood drain from his eyes as I made my kill slow and steady. But due to certain rules governing this kind of meeting, I could not, regrettably, carry out those actions. The look in her eyes said it all — the embarrassment she was going through and the pain she felt because she had to keep smiling like a pretty doll. I still could not wrap my head around who had invited him. He should not be here, unless someone invited him, and based on the odds it could have been any alpha. I hated that I had put her into such a predicament, hated that her heart was probably racing with pain now, and that it was all my fault for bringing her here. She was about to go into the toilet when I spotted a scene that was rather… interesting. “I’ll be back soon,” I said to her, then walked toward where he stood. The waiter saw me and imm

Chapter 30 Tori’s POV His mother looked young. So young that, if I had not seen her gray hairs, I would have suspected she was perhaps their aunt. She looked at me, an unreadable expression on her face as she watched me pick up the elated boy, his small hands wrapped around me. My embarrassment was now forgotten, and instead I chose to transfer all my attention to the little bundle of joy in my arms. I could not believe that I had thought of quitting. Everything — all the embarrassment and the awkwardness — was suddenly worth it, as long as I got to stay close to him. “Mum, once again you have succeeded in overfeeding my son and getting him to gain some pounds. At this rate I will stop bringing him to your house. All you do is pump his little belly full of food,” Alpha Adrian said. Unlike how he talked to his sister, Monica, he seemed to be particularly fond of the older woman. “I saw your video, Tori. I can’t begin to imagine how useless you must be for your mate to
