Elara’s POVCarl and I walked out into the parking lot. “Thanks, Carl,” I spoke when we were in front of my car.“No problem, Miss Elara,” he answered. His expression was tense, like he wanted to say something but couldn’t.“Ask,” I commanded him.“Huh?” He looked at me in confusion.“Ask what you want to ask,” I clarified before adding more to it. “You have a question. Something is bugging you. Ask what you want to ask.”He seemed visibly relieved. “I wanted to ask you if you thought it was ideal for you to break such an important contract.”“Voss Enterprise might not lose anything, but we might lose the credibility of the public.”“We didn’t do anything wrong. Northridge violated the terms of the agreement. We are just making do with it,” I spoke in a hushed whisper.“But we could have just let it go, fine them a compensation instead of outright termination of the contract.”“This would affec

I had been held up in my dorm all day.The loud clatter from outside reminded me of the events happening.Thankfully it was on the other side of campus, and almost everyone was there. It was the perfect opportunity to continue my research without any disturbance.I had to finalise everything. The date I picked for the messages to be leaked was well underway.A knock at the dorm halted what I was doing.“Who could it be?” I thought out loud to myself.I stood up, walking cautiously towards it.I had multiple enemies — from Richard to Rozetta’s defenders and whoever was in the betting ring.“Who is it?” I called out. I needed to know who it was before I opened the door.“It’s Kai,” he yelled from the other side.I yanked the door open, and true enough it was Kai in all his glory, standing in front of me.“What are you doing here?” I asked, puzzled by his appearance.“I came to see you,” he answered.“I know that.” I rolled my eyes at his words. “I know that. I meant what are you doing h

Me and Paisley were holed up in my dorm room laughing our asses off at the comments from people roasting their weirdo relationship.I didn’t actually release all the chats. I released a few of them. I would use them for next time. I knew they would come in handy.I felt justified and good at the same time. I knew she would get what was coming to her. But I never knew it would feel this good.“Oh my gosh, Elara, read this,” Paisley said between laughs.I read the comments. It was a meme of them roasting her and him.I frowned at this. How quickly those people would switch sides on who they were pouring their hatred towards.I had to make sure I wasn’t on the losing side nor the receiving end. Not because I cared what those spineless cowards thought, but because I didn’t need public opinion to switch against me.It’s the one thing that could help me.“Are you feeling bad for her?” Paisley asked when she noticed my smile fading.“What?!” I yelled in disgust. “I am not feeling bad for her

It’s been a week since I had the chats leaked. I had been keeping myself busy by focusing mostly on my investigation on the betting ring. While waiting for the investigation of the student union to finish and dish out their judgement.Which honestly had gotten me even more frustrated than ever.It had also been over a week since I last spoke to Kai. I don’t know why not speaking to him affected me more than it should.Hell, I don’t give a fuck about him that much. But I still felt irritated without him here, constantly annoying the ever-living fuck out of me.“What is wrong with me?” I needed to focus on this. But I was still getting distracted. I wove my hands through my hair out of frustration.“Maybe a walk would clear my head.” The idea was feasible. I needed to stop thinking about Kai, and what better way than this.I put on my shoes and left my room. As I walked past, I saw people whispering behind their hands.Which just irritated me more. I fastened my steps, walking towards a

“Hey Elara, are you with us?” I heard someone’s voice echoing from afar.I tried blinking multiple times to try and stabilise my vision. It was still blurry and distorted.I blinked again and this time saw the anxious face of Paisley staring down at me with multiple others who I didn’t know about hovering around.“Alright, give her some room. She just fainted. Let her breathe,” someone who I didn’t recognise said.“If you keep crowding around her she might faint again.” This time with those words they stopped hovering, leaving me alone.I tried to stand up and was assisted by the kind person.“Are you alright, miss?” They asked, placing a protective hand on my shoulder to help stabilise me.They began tying a bandage on my forehead.“Yes, I am fine. Just feel quite faint is all,” I said, trying to get up again.“She has already fainted before. This isn’t the first time,” Paisley answered. I turned to glare at her but it was weaker than I intended.“It’s probably due to stress. You see
