Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Day My Daughter Fired Her Father: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 10

When my husband, Xavier Galvan, finally returned, it was already 2:00 am. Our daughter, Tina Galvan, had already come out of the operating theater, and the nurse, Sherry York, was wheeling her into the ICU for further observation.Meanwhile, I had also just gotten off the phone with Dad.Xavier came up to me, a woman's perfume still strong on his clothes, and asked, "So what's Tina's condition like now? What did the doctor say?"In the past, I had always hoped that he would ask more about Tina and show more concern about her. I wanted him to show himself as a good father to her and not let her suffer the same fate as I did of being treated as a mere dispensable substitute for his first love instead. But today, I didn't even look back at him as I replied calmly, "It's nothing much. She's okay."Xavier frowned."What is this behavior, Heather Shaw? Tina is my daughter too!""Really?"I smiled slightly, still not turning around to face him.…Just a week ago, Tina had been diagn

"Also, you were there with her the whole time, weren't you?" Xavier demanded with a frown on his face, his eyes filled with displeasure. He made it seem as though I was the one in the wrong now.I didn't want to argue with him."Are you done talking?" I asked him calmly. "If you have, then you can leave now. Winter is still waiting for you."Xavier was caught off-guard and at a loss for words."Heather, you—""The patient has woken up. Her family can come in to visit her now," Sherry said, opening the door."I'm coming," I said, hurrying over to the ward and putting on the protective suit as instructed without giving Xavier a second glance. He tightened his fist, feeling a little uncomfortable. However, he wasn't in the mood to argue with me either. He just reached out his hand expectantly to Sherry."Where's my suit?"Sherry looked up at him, her eyes filled with surprise. Then, she said coldly, "I'm sorry, sir, but the patient only said that she wanted to see her mother. Sh

When Xavier got out of the car, he was carrying a music box that he'd just bought. It was a pink music box with a transparent crystal cover. In it was a tiny pink bunny in a tulle skirt that would spin around and sing if it was wound up.He stood at the hospital entrance suddenly remembering Tina's third birthday when she hugged the music box he had gifted her and kissed him on the cheek."Daddy, you're the best!" she'd exclaimed in her childish voice.Back then, he had only replied with a nonchalant hum, but the corners of his lips refused to go down for a very long time.Xavier looked down at the paper bag in his hands and walked faster. He thought that Tina was just angry at him. But kids were very easy to soothe and placate, so he would just have to buy her favorite music box, give her a hug, and sweet-talk her a little before she would cave and acknowledge him again. After all, that had always been the case in the past.It didn't matter how late he got home at night, how ma

The door leading to the hospital rooftop was right there. Xavier threw it open with a loud crash like a madman, and a blast of cold air rushed in at once. The sound of the helicopter rotors was deafening.I was sitting in the cabin with Tina in my arms. Her face was still very pale, and she was all wrapped up in a blanket, clutching tightly to me as she leaned into my arms, as if she was holding on to the only person in the world who wouldn't abandon her.Xavier froze to the ground at the door. Then, seconds later, he rushed up to us."Heather! Tina!"I looked up and wasn't too surprised to see him there. I just felt exhausted—so exhausted that I was feeling fatigued. In the past, I used to be afraid that he would never turn up. I was afraid of disappointing Tina, afraid that she would cry under her blanket, and afraid that she would ask me, "Am I not a good girl, Mommy? Is that why Daddy doesn't like me?"But now, Xavier was here. And yet, it didn't mean anything to us anymore.

I continued, "Tina's tired of waiting for you. I'm also tired of waiting for you, Xavier."Xavier froze all over, remorse finally surging within him belatedly. But it was too late. It was simply too late now.Just then, his phone rang. Winter's caller ID appeared on his phone screen. He just glanced at it and ignored it. The call ended. Then, Winter called again. On the third time, he finally answered the call.Winter was crying her heart out on the phone."Xav! You have to hurry back! Ian just fell down the stairs, and he's bleeding everywhere! I'm so scared, Xav! Please, can't you come back? We need you!"Xavier's face fell. He instinctively replied, "I'll be—"However, his voice got stuck in his throat because he saw me waving at the pilot."Let's go," I said. The helicopter rose into the air.Xavier's pupils narrowed in terror as he lunged at us like a madman."No! Heather! You can't go! Tina, Daddy was wrong! It's all Daddy's fault!"The doctors and nurses ran up to hi
