Chapter Eleven Hazel’s POV“No.” I scrambled up from the floor, arms still crossed over my chest. “No, no. I was not dreaming about you.”Creed looked at me.“I was dreaming about escaping.” I lifted my chin. “That’s all. How to get out of here. How to free myself from this whole situation.”Something moved at the corner of his mouth. Not quite a smile. Something quieter than that.“That’s amusing,” he said. “Good choice. Because you need to leave this room and resume normal activities.”I stared at him.“You have two options right now.” He said it the same way he said everything — calm, unhurried, like he had all the time in the world. “You go rogue, which means no pack, no protection, no rank. Or you get named an omega by default. Lowest rank. You know what that means.”I knew exactly what it meant. Breeders. Pack mistresses. Serving whatever Luna decided she needed a girl like me for. The life my mother had been living since before I was born, just with a different name on it.My

Chapter Thirteen Hazel’s POV Nobody told me where the Alpha’s quarters weapons room actually was.I spent twenty minutes walking the wrong corridor before a passing housekeeper pointed me toward a heavy wooden door at the far end of the east wing, set slightly apart from the rest of the rooms like it did not want company.I pushed it open. The smell hit me first. Metal and oil and something older underneath, the particular scent of weapons that had been used and maintained over many years. The room was long and low-lit, racks running along every wall from floor to ceiling. Swords, axes, combat blades, training weapons, ceremonial pieces in glass cases that looked old enough to be historical. A workbench ran the entire length of one wall with tools laid out in precise order.I stood in the doorway and stared.I had been told to clean and sharpen the weapons.Nobody had mentioned there were approximately three hundred of them.I dropped my bag by the door, found an apron hanging on a

Chapter 15 Hazel’s POV I woke up before the sun even had the decency to crack the horizon. Every muscle in my body throbbed from yesterday’s weapon-sharpening marathon, but the mental exhaustion was far worse. My mind was a hyperactive projector replaying the image of Emily in Creed’s lap on a loop. I needed to get out of this house. Fast. If I could sneak out to the Academy early, I wouldn't have to look at his perfect, arrogant face. I threw on my uniform, grabbed my bag, and crept down the grand staircase, moving like a ghost. But as I neared the dining hall, the faint, rich aroma of expensive cigar smoke and the low hum of a voice made me freeze. Peeking through the doorway, I found Creed alone at the head of the long table. There was no Emily this morning. Instead, he sat in perfect, quiet isolation, casually reading the morning newspaper. A silver lighter sat next to a smoldering cigar resting on an ashtray. He looked like a king ruling over a silent kingdom. Determined to

Chapter 17Hazel’s POV My heart didn't just thud; it violently battered against my ribs, the echo of it deafening in the sudden, heavy silence of the woods. I was entirely exposed. The cool night air hit the damp skin of my torso, sending a harsh shiver straight down my spine, but the ice spreading through my veins had nothing to do with the temperature.A few yards away, shrouded by the sweeping, skeletal shadows of the willow trees, sat Creed. He didn’t move. He didn’t look away. He just leaned back against the low bench, the tip of his cigar glowing a vicious, warning orange in the dark. The faint, rich aroma of tobacco smoke drifted over the water, cutting through the crisp scent of the stream. He didn't speak. He didn't have to. The silence radiating from him carried the suffocating weight of an absolute ruler, completely paralyzing me. He had seen everything. The lunar heat, my moment of weakness, my complete surrender to a body that apparently belonged more to the moon's prima

Chapter 19Hazel’s POV “No no no you can’t do this to us ! This is work assault “I screamed but he spit and said security and immediately 4 hefty looking big men came in.The cold concrete of the alleyway bit into the palms of my hands as the security guards shoved us out the back doors of The Velvet Lounge. The heavy metal door slammed shut behind them, the click of the deadbolt sounding like a guillotine in the damp night air."And stay out!" a burly enforcer barked from the window slit before snapping it shut."Nana," I choked out, the tears finally bursting past my eyelids as I scrambled to my feet. My dress was torn, my mask hung loosely around my neck, and my hands were shaking so violently I could barely breathe. "Nana, I'm so sorry. Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I made you lose your job. I ruined everything.""Hazel, stop it. Look at me, it's not your fault," Nana said, her voice breathy as she tried to brush the alley dust off her apron. Even though her hands were trembling, her
