~Nick~ I slouched back in my office chair after today’s run-in with the cops, rubbing a hand down my face. My mind wouldn’t shut the hell up. They weren’t backing off. If anything, they were getting more desperate. They’d do whatever it took to find Lily, which meant we had to do whatever it took to keep them from getting anywhere near her. “We’re not sitting around waiting for them to make the next move,” I muttered. I pushed out of my chair, walked over to my desk, and grabbed the phone. Within minutes, my senior members were filing into my office. The second everyone was inside, I got straight to the point. “We’re taking the fight to them,” I said, looking each of them in the eye. “I want more intel on Vehement. I want to know how deep this shit really goes.” “We already know we can’t trust the cops,” Snake said. The room answered with a chorus of grunts. “And who knows how many people this Lightfoot bastard has in his pocket,” I added. “For all we know, he’s got judges, po

~nick~It was late when I decided to check on Lily before turning in for the night. As soon as I pushed open her bedroom door, I froze. The room was trashed. The desk had been knocked over. Papers were scattered everywhere. A chair lay on its side, and the lamp had been smashed against the floor. There had been a fight.“Lily?” I called, already knowing she wasn’t going to answer. My eyes darted around the room until they landed on the open window.“Fuck.”I stepped back into the hallway.“Everyone upstairs, now!” I roared.Within seconds, heavy footsteps thundered up the stairs as the club rushed toward me.“What the hell happened?” Snake asked.Ironhead looked over my shoulder and let out a low whistle.“Jesus… Look at this place.”“Someone took her,” I growled, clenching my fists. “And she didn’t go willingly.”Death stepped inside, his eyes sweeping over every inch of the room.“Check outside,” he ordered a few of the prospects. “See if they left us anything.”The guys rushed out

~nick~The clubhouse was buzzing with activity as I worked the phones, calling in every favor this club had ever earned. The first call went to the Midnight Wolf MC.Hector answered on the second ring.“I need eyes everywhere,” I told him. “One of ours has been taken.”“You have my word,” Hector replied without hesitation. “We’ll see what we can find.”“Thanks.”The next call was to the Vortex Raiders. Before I could even finish explaining the situation, their president cut me off.“We’re already rolling out.”I hung up, grateful we had allies willing to stand beside us when it mattered. Then my radio crackled.“Hey, Prez,” Death’s voice came through. “We’ve got something.”I grabbed the radio.“Talk to me.”“Slick found a wrecked van. Looks like he came across it after spotting a fight on the road. We’re checking it out now.”Hope flared inside me.“Good work,” I said. “Keep your head on a swivel.”“Always do.”The radio went silent. The next few hours felt like a lifetime.Every min

~nick~“Tell me exactly what happened,” I demanded, keeping my eyes locked on Slick. He met my stare without flinching. Despite being one of the younger members, there was something about him that was hard to read.“I recognized the van from the security footage,” he began. “I tailed it to see where it was going. After a while, the driver realized I was following him and opened fire.”I motioned for him to continue.“The driver lost control after a few shots. The van swerved off the road and crashed. I called Death over the radio because I wasn’t about to walk into an unknown situation alone.”I studied him carefully.“And Lily?”“I found her in the back of the van,” he answered, his expression hardening. “She’d already been beaten pretty badly. I got her out and stayed with her until the guys showed up.”He shook his head.“It was bad, Prez.”My jaw clenched.I wanted to believe him.Everything he said lined up with what we’d found, but something still didn’t sit right with me.There

~nick~“So how long have you been selling us out?”My voice echoed through the clubhouse.Every man in the room stared at Slick. He swallowed hard, his confidence from earlier completely gone.“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he stammered.A cold laugh escaped me.Then I grabbed the beer bottle in my hand and smashed it against the floor. The sharp crack made him flinch.“Oh, you don’t know what I’m talking about?”I stepped toward him.“Let me refresh your memory.”The brothers moved aside, creating a path.Slick looked around the room, searching for someone to step in.Nobody did.Because everyone knew the truth. He was alone.I grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him close.“You remember Lily, right?”His face changed.“The woman we just left at the hospital?”His eyes widened.“No… she’s probably mistaken,” he rushed out. “Yeah, that’s it. The meds probably messed with her memory.”I stared at him.“She’s mistaken?”My grip tightened.“You really expect me to bel
